I really don't like the bubblechest . I guess that's good, really, as I need another VF-1 like I need a hole in my head, but still.

Bubble chest?

While most VF-1s have a slightly protruding chest to some extent, the new 1/60 is REALLY pronounced. I can't look away from it when I see photos. It's like the VF is pregnant Obviously it's my own hangup, but I still don't like it.

I really don't like the bubblechest . The chest on the original 1/60's were already pronounced. not sure if the new 1/60's are a bit "worse" but if they are, it might be from the hidden heat shield design (the originals had removeable heat shields). www.macrossworld.com/macross/toys/yamato_vf1/battroid2.jpg

Yeah, the VF-1 has always had a kinda bulbous chest, but for some reason it never stood out on the 1/48 or old 1/60 the way this new one does, to me. Maybe it's just the effect of the higher neck that makes the big belly stand out more.
EDIT: Actually, looking at photos, that's exactly what it is. The chest lines used to run right into the neck area and it all looks fairly even and proportional. Now that the head is no longer recessed, the curve ends below the neck which makes the jutting chest less form fitting.

at around $120 a pop, why not pony up the extra $20-40 and get a 1/48? and if you have a ton of 1/60s already, why are you going to buy this? and the 1st run of any Macross Yamato product always has issues.
i don't see why you'd want one of these, until the D or Elintseeker models come out. Maybe it's just my DX-size bias.
why go away from the 1/48 scale? why not make the D and other variants in that scale? its easy to find diorama and customizing parts in that scale vs. 1/60.

Because by releasing the 1/60 line AGAIN, it gives yamato an opportunity to sell the same paint schemes and molds AGAIN to poor saps with more money than sense (no offense to those who are buying these. Hell, complaints aside, I'll probably end up buying one myself. Self control isn't a strong point for me)

Anyone know where can I pre-order this at a fair price? The pre-order price from BBTS is ridiculous!!!!

As nice as it looks @ 1/60, I already have the 1/48 version with fast pack/armor so I probably won't be shelling out the extra $ for just a smaller version.

In the second episode of the original series, Roy (in his VF-1S) detaches the nosecone of Hikaru's badly damaged VF-1D. Let's just say the needed to make a quick getaway.

Except.... There's no separate Fuselage "accessory" that will come with the 1/60's when you purchase it. In order to be able to do the whole "rescue" scene, you need to buy a second VF-1 v2. It's all nice though, really a great improvement over v1, but the price is what keeps me from getting it.
