SCOPEDA!
It looks like Yamato is going to release a BRAND NEW Perfect Transformation 1/60 VF-1S. As most you all know the old 1/60's had removable legs in order to transform to Battroid mode. All in all this is very interesting news, only time will tell if Yamato plans to redo the ENTIRE 1/60 VF-1 lineup.

I think it's kinda MOOT at this point. We've already got the 1/48's. The only thing of Interest in the VF-1 line up would be a 1/48 Elintseeker, Ostrich, and VF-1D. Just another attempt to milk the franchise. The original 1/60's cost about +/- $50.00 (for the Super and Strike sets), these'lll probably cost $ 90.00, and another $20 for an FP set.... meh

Apparently the new 1/60's have been designed to accomodate 2-seaters, so yeah, VF-1Ds almost definitely, maybe Elintseekers, etc..

Well it does make sence since most of their releases have been in the 1/60 scale and at a smaller size Yamato will be able to produce different versions at lower costs instead of the usual re-paint.

Well color me excited. No chicken hands, VF-0 style cockpit transformation, so VF-1 will not look so much like he is over compensating for something, and double jointed elbows. Now all we can hope for is if the price is right for the size.

I must admit - he does look sexy. Particularly since the legs no longer have those huge obvious ball-joint connectors for the hips that were on the original 1/60.

Yamato is going in circles with their stuff. They've milked the crap out of the 1/48's...now basically they are going to shrink the 1/48 down to 1/60. If I knew about this maneuver...I would have never got the floppy legs 1/60's to begin with.
I never like the 1/48's that much to begin with. The detail is nice...but they are fragile and a pain in the ass to transform.
Long live the 1/55! ! !

Meh. Most Macross toys are variations of one single mold to start with (the VFs), so just changing the scale is hella stupid. The franchise needs a real reboot.

so they're re-designing a VF-1 @ 1/60 And they're doing a 2 seater??? This takes redundancy to a new high. A sort of Milk the cow til its bone dry approach? Sad part is that they're actually going to make out like bandits when all the dust settles.

At least we can look forward to what Bandai has to offer with the Macross Frontier toys. VF-25's and VF-17 Nightmares are looming. Hopefully, they're at par with Yamato in terms of aesthetics, accuracy, and details, but WITHOUT the ludicrous price tags.

Not sure of we can avoid the price tags...but I hope its not as fragile and overly complex to transform.
Thats what I liked about the 1/55. Your able to transform it without worrying about breaking it...but alas...it doesn't have the detail of the Yamatos.
I'll see how the new 1/60's turn out. I'll probably get one of the two seater's...or a Minmay Guard if they decide to make it.

I'm actually looking forward to this 'cause now the Queadlum-Rau-whatchamacallit finally has in-scale companions.
Also, for the first time it's possible to display the entire Macross lineage (or at least a couple of valkyries from each era) all on one shelf and in one scale. You can technically do this with the older 1/60 and get close enough with the 1/55 but those are getting harder to find, more vintage-expensive and they lack (presumably) the QC and better proportions of the new 1/60 lineup.
Finally, the Zentradi battle-pods (cannon fodder) have much better odds of being made in 1/60 than they ever did in 1/48.
Of course, I'm speaking as someone who hasn't spent $100's or $1000's (ouch) on the 1/48 lineup. I still wanna get at least one of those with a strike package, though.
I just hope they're not sold at 1/48 prices. That would suck ass.

If they were sold at the 1/48 prices...I'd just get the 1/48.
Hopefully they stay somewhere in the old 1/60 price range.
I'll probably end up waiting for the second batch...after they work out/improve on the early QC issues...which we know they'll have.

Perhaps we will get more diecast content with the 1/60 scale?.....................................hopefully.

Unlikely, lots of moving parts in that small frame, die cast will not do, just looking at the chest they are doing the transformation ala VF-0 where in the cockpit slides more inside. Die cast legs will not work good with ball joints. In this case less diecast the better.

Oh well, so much for more diecast hopes. As long as the quality is the same as the 1/48's I guess I can live with it.

That is not bad at all. If the qc and price are decent I think they just might sell some of 'em!
I'm also gonna start repeating these two phrases as a mantra: Zentradi-Pods & Destroids!!!
I want 'em in that scale too, Yamato. You know you can do it.

The matchbox battlepods are at approximately 1/60 so further creations by yamato just wouldn't do it for me. As far as the Destroids? I'm fairly content with the matchbox ones at approximately 1/100 [according to macrossworld]. So that wouldn't do it for me as well And rest assured any of these creations by Yamato will have the Qua's price tag. I may go for the 1/60 2-seaters. But at this point, I am just so put off on Yamato stuff. I did recently get the 1/12 Scopedog Bulldog & matching Faye figure. And I'm probably going to get the last 3 1/48 VF-1 s I'm missing sometime this year Other than that, unless Yamato comes up with something more creative, I'm giving my $$$ to bandai, CM's, Max Factory, Fewture & a little to aoshima ;D
