If I already didn't have the 1/48 with Super Parts and Armor and if the new 1/60 valk were cheaper, I'd probably get this based on Graham's review. However, with the market currently flooded with so many great items like SOC's and the frenetic rate of new releases, I'm not buying. I'm looking for valks or bots I don't already have 3 or more versions of (think Bandai VF-1, Yamato 1st Gen diecast 1/60 VF-1, and Yamato 1/48 VF-1). With more time these figures just keep getting better and better so I've learned to wait longer before purchasing--like 2nd or 3rd revisions. I am interested in the Macross Frontier VF-25 though maybe I'll wait for an eventual re-release of this one.

i wish there's a 1/48 version exactly. I'd by a D, an Elintseeker, etc... I'm flat-out not into 1/60 scale, there's so little available to make cool dioramas and displays, whereas in 1/48 there's so much stuff widely available... it makes your expensive purchase look so much better. what's the point of doing the same scale over and over again? a smaller scale at basically the same price point as the larger scale. what crap.

If anyone is concerned about the shoulders on their VF-1 2.0, there is a way to relieve the tension (not my idea by the way, but I'm sharing because it's a good one) on the shoulder joints by removing the covers on each shoulder and loosening the screws a bit. It's quick and easy and should help prevent the hinges from cracking and breaking. To get the shoulder armor off you simply need to grasp the corners on the bottom and pull outward and up, and they should slide right off. They are held on by friction with a shallow peg on each side.

An important note: this will only ease the tension on the ball joint so that you worry less when moving the arm. The hinge is still vulnerable while transforming and you should always be careful to lift the entire assembly over the stop-peg in the channel, instead of trying to shove through it.

True true, the hinge is still needs to be handled gently and braced when posing/transforming, just to be on the safe side.

Lol! Nah, I love the fact that the design of the 1D looks great and all, but I'm staying away from the 1/60 VF-1's. I'd rather go back to non "1" designs.

Just received my TV VF-1A Max from HLJ yesterday. The package arrived safely (it seemed to have eluded customs inspection, since the outer plastic seal is intact). This is my first Yamato toy, from the series that is notorious for breaking shoulder. I decided to take the plunge because it was marked 30% down in HLJ a couple of weeks ago, and because the reports from Macross World indicated that this variant is one of the "fixed" and less trouble plagued.
I'm liking the Yamato Manual, it is very classy and detailed. When I handled the product, it's quite light for its size, but it's tight, no sign of floppiness due to the multiple locking points for the various modes. However, since this is my first time handling a Valkyrie toy (never had takatoku, bandai re-issues or jetfire before, only a bootleg plastic valkyrie), the transformation process was quite scary to me, even though the manual was very detailed in explaining the transformation sequence. One, because of the aforementioned toy series problem, and two, because the plastic seemed fragile, which was unsubstantiated, because nothing broke when I completed the transformation.
My main concern is the way the shoulders are tucked away in the fighter mode from the gerwalk and vice versa. Has anyone find an easier or less forceful way to lock the shoulders without filing or trimming down the plastic notch that locks the shoulders in gerwalk or battroid mode? Due to this issue, I had to transform the toy out of sequence to gain some space to carefully move and lock the shoulder pieces.
EDIT: Apparently you can loosen the screw to the connector that swings the arms assembly so that it can have more clearance over the locking notch.
Note: I was pleasantly surprised to find some chogokin amount in the toy, since I previously thought that the only metal parts are limited in the landing gears and the swing bar (plus that the figure rocks in all three modes).
