I'm guessing that Bandai decided to make the GFF line out of that awful soft PVC-type material to further distinguish this line from 1/144 model kits. I suppose GFF made of harder plastic like polystyrene would pose too much competition to their own model line. It'd also be bad for klutzy people. I don't really have time for models anymore especially when you consider the time involved for prepping and painting models. However, after getting a few of these GFF figures, I stopped. I was disappointed with the painting, the construction, and the darn material. I'll stick with the HCM Pro figures and the Metal Material Model lines.

No offense meant to the folks who like and collect GFF's, but I find the material used too gummy. They look great displayed though. If I had some extra cash, I'd get only one GFF, the Deep Striker.

I agree that the GFF figures look nice displayed and the tampo printed-on details are often impressive. But these figures are intended for adult collectors willing to pay premium prices. As far as I'm concerned the material doesn't cut it for collectability purposes.

Hi, guys! I am ashamed to say that my knowledge about Gundam world is almost "zero", so I would really appreciate if you can patiently answer my questions...
1) The 18 meter life-size Gundam in Japan, was it made after the figure GUNDAM FIX #0026 RX-78 / GM-79 Ka version? - If yes, why didn't they just create the one after the anime-like figure known as [The Origin]?
2) Are both figures [The Origin] and Ka ver. the same height?
3) Personal question: - which one do you like/prefer more?
I am asking because I want to purchase a nice Gundam figure; since I don't have any...And we have at our local store the Gundam Fix Figuration RX-78 NT-1 "Alex" -- which I might buy, but I was looking for the most genuine RX-78 figure...and now, I am really confused between [The Origin] and the Ka version.
I would really appreciate your advisory on this! Thank you.

Kinda hard to answer these question but here is my best shot. Question 1, yes it was made after the GFF 26, had to be because by the time the Statue was made and finished, the GFF line was way past 26. The Manga, the Origin, those design came after the statue. I know the manga looks old but I believe its newly created. I could be wrong on this but I don't think mangas were this detailed back in the early 80's and (ate 70's. Question 2, Yes, because it is the same mobile suit. Think of it as a different interpretation. Styled differently with different parts added, that is all. I guess the best way to explain this is GFFMC is old ver Ka and GFFMC is new ver ka. Question 3, the Origin, technically it is still a ver Ka because GFFMC is produced and the designs are by Hajime Katoki. Correct me if I am wrong on this. But the new one is just a more refine update of the old one with more accessories.

Thanks so much for the info Well, I have been looking through these RX-78 Fix Figuration figures all day online, and now I think I gotta chose between either #1009 RX78-2 GUNDAM [The Origin] or #0004 G-ARMOR [RX-78-2+G-FIGHTER]. I know that #1009 is a better quality and newer figure...but if I ask how good/bad is #0004...what would you say?Again, thanks for your patience with me...I truly appreciate your time helping me. Vs.

Personally, I like the GFFMC 1009, brand new, has lots of parts for multiple conversions. I don't own either one but I would take the new one over the old one any day. This is because I can't think of Gundam without thinking aboutt the Model Kits. And the newer model kits are always way better in detail, sculpt proportions and engineering. There were some talks about bad QC paint on the eyes for the GFFMC 1009 though.

Not sure if you noticed, but #1009 is from GFFMC line which is 1/100 scale and made of metal and hard plastic. #0004 is from the GFF line which is 1/144 scale and made mostly of softer pvc. A proper comparison to the #1009 would be the #1001 from the same GFFMC line. The #1001 GFFMC is the non-origin ver.ka with the G-fighter in 1/100 scale and made with high quality materials. It won't be as posable as the #1009 but it has the G-fighter to play with. Hi! True regular Fix is 1/144 scale while the metal Fix line is 1/100. I have #1001 and its a great figure its not as modern as #1009 but it has a more classic look. There are comparisons between the two so you can see the differences. Also the Origin Gundam is based on a NEW manga that retells the original Gundam story and all the different parts is to depict how the Gundam changes through the series.

{Guys, I have deleted one of my posts w/ some pics & links by mistake (it was just before this one), so, my apology for that and 'THANKS' to all who made a reply after my questions about Gundam Fix Figuration line(s).} Um, so what does " FRAME MODEL" mean?

Um, what does " FRAME MODEL" mean? Thx. It means the figure has an inner frame with armor placed on it, sort of like a real grade. Here's a review of the RX-78(not mine): www.toyboxcollection.com/reviews/gff-rx78/

Here's a review of the RX-78(not mine): www.toyboxcollection.com/reviews/gff-rx78/Thanks for tellin' me the meaning, man! Thanks also for the GFF RX78-2 ver. Ka link! It must be very rare to find. Well, I know that I am skipping a great figure by skipping GFFMC #1009 and #1001/or 1004 ...but as I said, I am still not a huge Gundam fan yet so it doesn't matter if I get its perfect figure and spend money on... and hopefully the GFF line isn't that bad with quality cuz I read some scary reviews 'bout it! ;D So, as I am getting the #0004 G-ARMOR [RX-78-2+G-FIGHTER] and #0039 RX-78 NT-1 ALEX [FRAME MODEL] I feel like I am gettin' Mazinger Z and its upgraded version Great Mazinger! Any other notable Gundam units related to those RX-78 units?

Honestly if I were you I'd be looking at the Robot Spirit toys instead of the FIX ones, I personally think their better plus there's way more variety not to mention their cheaper. You can get your standard RX-78-2 but also get all the variants plus Zaku's and enemy mechs too newer designs like the Unicorn, Strike Freedom and 00 Gundams. That's the way I would go.

Dude the GFFMC #1004 is only around USD100 - that's how much I paid for mine about 3-4 months ago from one of my local toy shops.

We don't have it in Egypt! + Egypt f**kin' central bank does not allow the usage of PayPal. So, in order to buy from eBay (which already costs more than local stores + the int'l shipping cost) we have to transfer money via Western Union first (and pay extra fees), to someone who has a PayPal account. Where in the end, postal customs rob you in daylight! It's a pain in the @$$ to be a collector and live in Egypt.

Oops my bad bro - Didn't notice you were from Egypt Imagine we only have 1 specialized store for action figs., collectibles and comic books here (that's Kryptonite Toys) and the damn Egypt customs are trying to shut the project down unless they get bribes. The revolution didn't kill all corruption yet! As for stores like Toys'R'Us in Egypt, they are a tragedy...maybe good for kids under 16 years old. Pffft!

Sorry to hear about the situation in Egypt bro. Sounds frustrating for a collector like yourself. Hopefully things improve...
