Looks like it will launch in 2010. tformers.com/article.php?sid=12492Previous statements from last comicon is there might be a Movie based toon. I suspect that is exactly what we will see. Its been their biggest money maker. I would much prefer to see a toon based on the classics line, I doubt it will happen. I really hope they keep their promise and they are going to release more classics for the universe line like they said.

Someone mentioned that the new toon should be based on Human Alliance figures. That's not a bad idea, it would force them into doing things in scale for a change, but at the same time it would really limit what vehicles they can do and people would be sure to complain about how much screen time the humans get in the toon like they did for years with AEC.
If they do happen to go with a movie spin-off I hope they do something closer to the G1 stylings just because I can't see them doing super detailed animation models unless they go the CGI rout.

Partially, they both mixed 2D and 3D elements. I preferred the cell shaded look of Energon over the straight CG look of Cybertron.

I've been mostly successful in fighting off the urge to buy movie figures, but I've been making up for it in Japanese releases...
Hopefully Classics 3.0 isn't any time soon. If the new toon has a good look I'm really going to be in trouble.

It's also not something I'd let my children see, and would not promote the cartoon based on the movie either.

So not a fan of the TF movies... I haven't bought anything from that line at all - not even as gifts. I don't want to rehash that old argument, but yuck! Prolly won't have a thing to do with the new animated series either.
Would totally love some Universe, tho. And I never even got Classics Inferno either - I just thoughta that! >_<; Never even saw him in the stores, ugh.
That about sums up my disgust with Transformers right now - ugh.

If its movie related then as many have said no sorry not interested, the movies killed much of my interest in Transformers and will no doubt continue to do so. If it's something with more substance then yeah I'll give it a go. It was a shame the original continuity had to end with Beast Machines, if that had ended less...wrongly and we'd continued into Transtech then maybe we would have had to suffer the endless rebooting that has occurred ever since. For me (an hopeless child of the late 70's) Transformer lost its way around about that point even tho I hung on for dear life until the movie came along and finally pushed me away. The only reboot I would like to see is for it to go back to the beginning and start again, only this time do it with a bit more intelligence and more impetus on stories and characters than selling toys a bit like IDW have been doing with the comics or a little like Matell did with He-man(even tho it was a commercial disaster). The perfect line(s) of toys already exists to compliment this in Classics/Universe/Masterpeice.Alas I fear this is just a fanboy pipe dream

Sadly, I agree. Transformers really jumped the shark as far I'm concerned. I don't really even care about continuity - if they just ditch the American designs, I'll be happy.

If it ends up being like Powermasters/Headmasters/Targetmasters then I'll be happy. I wasn't completely disappointed with Armada, using little robots to make big robots do different things was a very G1 concept. Wasn't a big fan of the keys, those just went in a junk box. My favorite Minicons were the ones that turned into weapons or actual parts of their larger counterpart.

I hated minicons since most of them turned into mini cars. The thing I hated most about Armada is Prime was a giant Puss, and those kids were horrible. If they were more like head masters or target masters I might dig them. I am not sure what this next cartoon will be but I am hoping it is not 3D again. I liked that animated returned to traditional animation.

There were a few Minicons that I really liked on their own like the three cars, and the Perceptor team was in scale with the other Transformers, and of course the three combined weapon teams and the teams that turned into individual weapons. The only ones I didn't like were the ones that looked cobbled together out of random shapes. Armada made up for many of its shortcomings with nice 2D animation (though the 3D in Energon wasn't so bad, didn't care for Cybertron's 3D) and a great "final" battle between Prime and Galvatron/Megatron (video compiled together from clips). I don't mind some of the Minicons as a stand alone toy, I hated them in the cartoon as a mini version of a car or plane that a robot that is in a more correct vehicle scale snaps onto his arm for power. I never even understood how a robot that was weak and defenseless was so powerful when snapped to something else.
Whatever they do, I want to see better animation, better voice acting, and better story telling. And I want to see the death of sequences that cut away to some bizarre animation for a 10 second transformation action sequence.

I agree, I basically want the depth and intelligent writing of Beats Wars, with animation on par with any current Macross or Gundam series staring the characters of G1. It's funny, after 25+ years the best two series IMHO are still the G1 series and a series that stared a Optimus that turned into a ape lol.

Yep couldn't agree more chen, I would love to see Sunrise animation try their hand on the TF franchise. as their previous attempt on the Brave series proves that they are able to do it (maybe even better on TFs).
