They're okay... but Searchlight is total crap. The Minicons too.

Finally got around to opening my Combaticon & Aerialbot set of power core combiners. I've had these for a couple weeks but just haven't had a chance to open them up. Anyway, the Combaticon set is pretty cool. I like all the modes on this set - Good vehicles, bot and combiner mode. I would recommend this one to anyone interested in these.
Now, for the bad. The Aerialbot set just is just plain awful. The vehicle modes are alright, but the combiner mode is what you buy these for and it is one of the worst combiners I have. Both legs are unstable due to fl aping parts that support the bot. He has no feet, just random supports from the cockpit/gun of the chopper and the wings/thrusters of the jet. The problem is that none of this locks in place. So, if you pick it up, you will have to fix them again before you put it back down. In addition to the bad legs/no feet, the yellow chopper arm is disproportionate as an arm and just just plain ugly. Finally, the back panel on Skybust will not lock in place - it just keeps popping up.

so is this a temporary line until a cartoon line comes out to carry the toys?

The images above are likely the last of the line. At some point all of the current lines will end to make way for the new movie 3 figures. It's too early to tell if the TF:Prime figures will even be out at that point or not, those might be the only two lines running for a little while.

Walmart has put the 5-packs on Rollback for $15 even. That's a very manageable and much more ideal price. They've also set up either an end cap for these or put them in a feature aisle with other hot holiday toys depending on the Walmart.

I still want them despite the reviews, I just haven't been able to come up with the money thanks to other purchases.
BTW, the two packs are $7 at Target right now.

So far there is two 2-packs I really like. Huffer and sledge. Both are solid figures. Bomb shock is a great figure too but the whole limb system blows. I am only buying the singles for now to make my own limb kits for. The Dino bots are the only 5 pack I am considering at this point.

Eventually the core figures from the 5-packs will get 2-pack releases. So you should be able to get all of the molds in 2-packs eventaully. Also, the opposite is true as well, the 2-pack molds are going to be used in future 5-packs. Emerje

Emerje woah $15? lucky I doubt the canadian side we'd see prices that close. $15 is totally managable! I think the combaticons and the dinobots are the only ones that look sharp to me.

I love that thing more every time I see it. The drones remind me of the Dinoforce Pretender shells. Probably because of the way they all look like they're wearing helmets and armor. Emerje

This one is actually pretty good - I want one if it's not terribly overpriced where I live.
Need more carnivorous dinosaurs, though.

I think of the things that makes this set stand out so much is that the drones are actually pretty big. In the other sets the drones are noticeably smaller than the core figure, but in this set all five figures are pretty much the same size in alt mode. Makes them feel more like a team.

i got the Destron pack for $15 at Target last night because it looked cool. hmmm. it's not my thing, but i tried it. i may have fun combining it with the Dinobots later, but eventually i'll donate it to the kids church unless i sell it, but i don't see this line as collector-worthy.

Picked up the Dinobot set at Walmart Saturday morning. It's my first PCC set, but I really wanted it so it was a definite "buy on sight" purchase. Neat figures, the commander figure is pretty complex, it's amazing how many little moving parts they squeezed into it. I can certainly understand the higher prices now. All five dinos are basically the same size which is really nice compared to the other sets. All of the guns are molded on which is a little unfortunate since they point off in funny directions. The combined mode's "jaw" arm is nice, but the "pincer" arm is just for show, it can't open and close which is disappointing. legs parts are a little awkward because of the auto mechanism, but they work, he's pretty steady on his feet. Only thing really missing in this set is air support, really should have had a flyer. Over all I like it quite a bit, it's a neat figure and much better than the last attempt at combining Dinobots.
