Id love to see a subbed
Raideen. Does it exist?
The last time I checked for it a fansub group then known as
mSubs had translated the first 24 episodes of it.
(
The series is a duration of 50 episodes)... unfortunately mSubs never finished subbing that series
AND their operation site of origin (Shingettersubs) shut down....... quite some time ago back in late 2008 or 09.
I had a copy of it, thinking mSubs would finish the entire series as they were uploading each newly subbed
episode every other week.
But seeing as mSubs had dropped that project I became frustrated and deleted my copy.
After that, all I had was the unsubbed raw version, and it's stuck in the same hard-drive with
all of my other anime files and artwork.
I've tried to recover the files from the hard-drive, but I've never learned how to do that
for fear of accidentally formatting the hard-drive.
Windows Checkdisk showed me the drive has some bad sectors... red flag, red flag!
Back on topic.....
Now, to confirm
revolver's comment, yes I too had watched the raw episodes...
...for not being able to understand the Japanese dialog (except for the Attack commands, of course)
I was so glued to the series that I watched all 50 episodes (ten per night) marathoned
all the way through; and I was Very entertained! Never a dull moment.
(
That's more than I can say for the Mazinger-Z series)
The artwork in that series is consistent from start to end, and the episodes had you on board
for a wild ride of robot battles right from the start of each episode- within the first ten minutes of
the episodes Akira is already going into battle with Raideen.
The last five episodes are awesome..... the last two episodes Rock... and the final episode Rules.
I've been searching for complete English subtitles, or Japanese scripts, for the Raideen series
and still have found no results except for the dreaded incomplete hard-subbed version by mSubs.
As for my favorite super-robot anime shows,
listed in the order as I've watched them back in their days:Gigantor (Tetsujin 28,
on black-n-white TV)
Brave Raideen (Yuusha Raideen,
on black-n-white TV)
Mazinger-Z (series,
and OVAs)
Great Mazinger (
only watched a few episodes)
UFO Grendizer (
only watched a few episodes)
Gaiking (the classic version,
only watched a few episodes)
GoLion ("Voltron",
weekdays)
Dairugger-XV ("Voltron",
Saturday mornings)
Tetsujin 28 Go (1980's version,
rebroadcast on Sy-Fy Channel in the mid-'90s)
Mazinkaiser
Koutetsushin Jeeg (2009)
Shin Getter Robo (Armageddon)
Mazinkaiser SKL (
OVA or whatever this 3-episode miniseries is categorized as)
Recently watched, or started watching but still haven't watched completely:
Steel Jeeg (classic,
still waiting to finish watching the series)
Combattler V (
still waiting to finish watching the series)
Voltes V (
still waiting to finish watching the series)
Big O (
never finished watching the series)
OVAs only:
Tekken Toppa whatever Gurren Lagann, movie 1
(
nice, but the robot is way too zippy fast paced for me)
Tekken Toppa whatever Gurren Lagann, movie 2 (
still haven't watched it)
Gaiking, The Legend Of Daiku Maryu (2005,
still waiting to finish watching it)
I miss the vibes of the old-school classic super-robot anime shows from the '70s.
Lately I've really tried to get into these modern robot or mecha shows, such as GaoGaiGar Final.
Seeing the pilots vocally strain their Attack commands and power-ups while charging
(
as in,
"Dragonball-Z" style) just doesn't excite me... almost every modern mecha show is like that nowadays...
GaoGaiGar Final gave me that attitude... okay, Guy Shishio doing his vocal Dragonball attack thing is fine.
But when he calls for the Final Fusion approval- we're out in some space station looking at some
drag-assed old man CEO acting like a "Buddha".... approving the final fusion phase..... draws a card out...
licks the card and places it into a slot on his desk... then the sub commander strikes a Dragonball pose and
shouts the Approval command... then the blond ponytail Leutenant then does the same thing....
down to the cutsie little bubblegum girl at the control panel who goes into some spasmodic Dragonball pose
and screams her head off shouting the final fusion command... and punches a glass panel to
activate the Final Fushion "technique" (
they must have a serious budget to replace that glass panel every time. lol)
As if That weren't enough, they all do the same exact chain of command sequence for sending out
the Dividing Driver, and the Goldion Hammer!
Oh my ferrrEEking Gawd, cut the Dragonball crap and let's get GGG into full effect alreadyyyy!
LOL..... I'll end my rant right there, cos I had started getting dizzy and I had almost blackened out
from typing this GGG dialog alone.
