I scored mine at $79.99 + $29.99s/h but I've already seen the prices go up to $89.00+. My advice is to get it now before prices rise do to demand or wait to see if it goes back down once the demand settles. Also I found out that HK Exclusive gift is a pretty cool keychain.

I'm a little worried about all that weight contracting the legs after some time, hopefully it will be an improved version of Grendizer's leg design.

Please pardon my ignorance (I've never seen the cartoon before), but what is the purpose of all the different heads? Was this featured in the show?
Also, Chen, what do you mean about the legs contracting? Do they become loose?

Rex, there are 2 different versions of Gaiking, the early one with the thinner limbs and the grill on the face, and the late upgraded version with thick limbs and the different head. In the show, the upgraded version can blow off all the external armor on the head when sanshiro shouts "face open," and then attack with a load of weapons that are on the super weapon head hidden underneath. Those weapons include (I'm not sure how to romanize some of these) the abshock light, which is a blinding light weapon, gaiking missiles, which come from the super weapon head's nose, desper sight, which fires off light shots from the eyes, and death fire, a flamethrower from the mouth.

This looks like a really good SOC.And the uprgraded parts of Gaiking,I believe are plastic,if I'm not mistaken. This is because in earlier showings of the prototype, the white parts indicated that the parts made are plastic. Those that are gray are metal.I think it's a good idea to make the armored pieces plastic so there wouldn't be any paint scratching and to balance the figure. And GX-27 Gaiking isn't coming to my area(The NJ-NY area) until next week.

Ah, thanks Ataru. I understand now. One more (ignorant) Gaiking question from me for today... Is Gaiking a Go Nagai creation?

Gaiking does look like a Go Nagai creation but it was designed by Dan Kobayashi. Also the leg design on Grendizer is fine but Gaiking looks like he has alot more weight in his torso (especially if his chest/head is diecast) that I'm worried that Gaiking might do his own impression of a dwarf on his own.

Well according to some comments on Nippon Toy forums,I read that there are some flaws with the GX-27.Here are the flaws:1)The leg joints retract easily.2)The ankle joints are loose.3)The armor piece for the legs fall off easily.4)Paint issues on the gold parts. From this impression,I believe this are just minor flaws.

The armor piece is the upgrade, not the cross.
