hehe, i remember when i was new blood. silvergt welcome me warmly too . dricks2080 you are among good people here. if you are just starting out, get socs. they are simply the best (together with aoshima and max factory). catch up first with the bots you like, see the reissue release dates so you can get some of the bots at standard prices. scan the "soul of chogokin" threads for reviews on socs and other bots, it may help you decide which to get first. if you will still have questions on some of them, please feel free to ask. we will be more than happy to guide you in ur initial purchases goodluck and welcome to RJ bro thanks mannyD!!! actually, what triggered me to start collecting was when SOC unveiled their plans of introducing voltes gx-31 to their line of products. i had the godaikin voltes v but i've always thought it really didn't resemble the voltes v i saw on tv. but since then, i guess coming from a poor family, i've seen a lot of toys come and gone and i never had the priviledge nor the money to have one of those (except for godaikin voltes v and go lion and a kite made of old newspapers and a wooden-carved imitation of matchbox cars)... now that i'm financially independent, i guess that kid inside of me began to yearn to have one of those... so i guess i'm here collecting them to fill in that void that was left out during my childhood days... anyway, thanks for the support... and yeah, feel free to give me some recommendations on which toys to consider.... thanks bro!

Manny I didn't realize until now, dang you been a busy bee! Your post count is so much higher than mine, I guess that's because I went on Hiatus, since Carlo sent me on a fact finding mission incognito to asia, Shhh...I'm a spy for Aoshima, Carlo is really the silent partner in Aoshima and I was sent by the man himself, summoned me to his secret lair, sat me down for a drink of Bacardi and Coke, and explained to me the details of the mission that he has tasked me. I was to infiltrate Bandai (Japan) as the water cooler water jug replacement guy and listen into conversations and find out where the super secret plans were stored. Then I am to steal the plans and return it to Carlo who use them at Aoshima, it is because The run times on the molds for Mazinkaiser, NeoGetter, etc. are running near its lifecycle and the rainbow dart board was running out of colors. So...shhhh everyone, expect great things to come from Dme3, I mean Aoshima...Just kidding boss, don't make me cut off a finger, please.

Dricks, inside joke...homie, I hope Bandai would make a Mazinkaiser, but they need to make Daimos, first. How's San Dog? Been awhile since I've been there, (true story)an acquiantace's friend (lol) who is friends with one of the founding fathers of Commerce One, an e-commerce pioneer in the late 90's. Luck or pure genius, sold his share to whomever owns them now and bought a marina over there, not a boat, not a pier, but a marina...damn, one day...

Did I mention that I had to hide the secret plans in a water cooler jug that turned out to be a robot which whistled lot and on the way home we met this android, that was a human cyborg relations administrator from Bandai who wanted to defect? Then, inside Bandai's secret labs they had these little fuzzy creatures locked up in cages, and when they saw the android, all of them chanted, "ah, Ito ang maganda!"

I was also thinking about getting a Gaogaigar... But then there's four different types and I don't know a whole lot about each of them. There's one thread here that talked about it. He posted some pictures and they were helpful. However, I wanted reviews and descriptions. So really, I've been asking around to explain to me the difference between all four of them. So far, none of them replied. Well, I asked the vendors on eBay, since they're the ones selling the items. I was also looking at the Gundam Perfect models... but then I relaized I have a life outside of work and I'm not going to have time to spend hours on putting it together... Which sucks because I really like the designs of the Gundams...

gaogaigar? since you will be collecting socs, get max factory's version. it is not transformable. but it has high diecast content, fully articulated, lots of accessories and a soc quality finish. it goes perfectly with socs gundams? so many lines bro hehe, but you can choose from the following- perfect grade gundams- are big (1/60 scale) and excessively detailed, but time and skill are needed in assemblying them. GFF and CR gundams- gundam fix figuration and cosmic region PVC action figures (soft plastic). tweeked designs, lotsa cool accessories. roughly 1/150 scale. new HCM-PRO gundams- small (1/200 scale) but very detailed. they are painted, have internals and detacheable armor. kadou/kahen gundams- classic designs and have diecast (chogokin line). little bit smaller than 1/144 scale. i'm a lazy bum (j/k), no time to built model kits. i'd go for the chogokin/diecast gundams and the GFF/CR gundams. but all the gundam lines are great, nothing you will get in the end will be "bad" hope this helps

Gundam DX 12" To me these are the only gundam series that's a MUST The DXs are about 12" roughly 1/60 and there aren't much releases so your wallet won't be strained same goes for the Kado chogokin series mannyD mentioned except they're @ 1/144 and die-cast yeah if I had the time I'd go for the PG s but its just too much work I just don't have the time, dedication and "lifelessness" to take on such a project

Hi, I'm thinking of getting Zambot3, after getting Voltes but the price is really high. I called my usual SOC shop and he told me it will be reissued next year (2007). Is that true? Btw, how much was it when it was released?
