Hey everyone! Just a quick question... Does anybody know of any possible or legitimate changes on the Dancouga re-issue? As in changes in transformation, color scheme, additional accessories or vice versa... If there is/are, I wouldn't mind getting another one.
Though in general, does Bandai make it a habit to mass produce re-issues with changes as time progresses? Or do they only do that without any changes to the existing line only to compliment the supply and demand? I'm just wondering, because I'm really disappointed with the current Dancouga line (both the GX-13 and GX-13R limited edition). It would be nice to have more articulation on the head and more diecast on the shoulders, hands and the head... you know, make the fragile parts unfragile.
Well, just let me know if any of you have any inside scoop. Thanks!

If you ask me I would just stick with the original Dancouga GX-13. You can still get one at $285 on ebay and it seems to be the rarer of the two. I also never had the problems that other people mentioned. Just my two cents.

I also never had the problems that other people mentioned. Just my two cents. well, i read the reviews on www.collectiondx.com and the guy who did the review on dancouga (original) had the same issues as i did. he actually explained very thoroughly on there. also explained this to somebody on the other thread. like the connector for the head of dancouga... it doesn't really "connect" the head to the body. all it does, really, is to provide some leverage for the head. the head just "sits" on the connector, not actually connect it. i mean it would be nice to be able to pick him up by the head, have some articulation, and have the hands connect "tightly" to the forearms and not snap off easily (or vice versa)... you know what i mean?

i'd be happy if they made some/all of these modifications on the next dancouga, so i can finally remove my existing GX-13R from my SOC hall of collections and use it as target practice.... sorry... this is what i usually do to my toys i ended up not liking... ;D ;D ;D ;D

That's right. Some other people would like it. I personally, don't see anything wrong with the GX-13R. Must be nice to have all that dough and shoot your expensive unwanted items. Man, some of you guys crack me up. i'd be happy if they made some/all of these modifications on the next dancouga, so i can finally remove my existing GX-13R from my SOC hall of collections and use it as target practice.... sorry... this is what i usually do to my toys i ended up not liking... ;D ;D ;D ;D Before you shoot your "unliked" chogokins I suggest you post them here to sell. Lol! You're too much dricks....for a moment there you were like an internet troll and i was like, wtf? Glad that's not the case. I agree there should be some improvements but it's still a worthy piece overall.. hey man! you know, i could be a pain in the a$$.. but for a good reason... ;D ;D ;D ;D to tell you the truth, i'm just a little tired of having everyone agree on one thing. i'm just trying to encourage others to not be afraid to share their concerns and their opinions (negative ones especially) on certain toys. being picky myself, it really helps a lot to allow me to see things from a different perpective, espcially when i have no clue about the toy's physical presence and attributes... like you already heard me bagging on aquarion. man, i thought he was a real deal, because of all the threads i've read, everyone had said some very good things about him and nobody mentioned anything about the robot's flaws... even when i started that thread deciding between Gaogaigar and Aquarion, nobody mentioned anything about the flaws that each one has. and so when i got my aquarion, you know, i was so disappointed... i wanted to... ahem... play with it, you know, transform it in many ways i want, like how it was advertised online and on the box it came in... and i can't even do that if it breaks apart every time and it can't even stand on it's own... now, how the heck to do you play with something like that? i thought it was a waste of my $200.00 to tell you the truth... i really felt like taking a gun and shooting it to the bolivian... that's how disappointed i was... oh well... well, if you see me bagging on things just feel free to shoot back... that's what i want.. because it gives me different perspectives from the one's i've already got. ;D ;D ;D

I think everyone knows the flaws, some of them are probably not as worthwhile to mention but some should be mentioned.
Ah well, to each their own.
I don't really handle or "play" with mine so to me some of that stuff doesn't bother me but I hear ya...whatever floats yer boat....rock on.

I love my Dancouga and to be fair Dancouga kicks most other gattai bots ass when it comes to articulation and modes (there are three modes for each robot). True there are some small niggles like the head connection but it would have to be a damn strong connection if you want to pick up Dan by the head, this big boy weighs a ton. Besides, for sheer size Dancouga is still the King of SOC's.

Dricks, I know what you're saying. I think we all have a tendency to jump on the bandwagon and agree with each other, whether it be that something sucks or whether we think somethings great. Aquarion is a weird robot case all around. Because you have to give it credit for pushing the limits of what transforming robots can do, even if it sort of falls short as a robot figure in the most basic sense. And it was designed by the father of robot transformation.. But I totally agree that it has some major shortcomings. Most of these opinions and/or facts, I tried to state in the original Aquarion thread from last year, then I sort of let it go I guess. I like Aquarion, but you have to take him with the good and the bad. This is sort of the reason I tend to like Max Factory stuff. True, they don't transform, but they function properly, and sometimes ideally, in the basic sense of being a figure, and they look great. Even the CM GGGG has some downfalls as a figure. Some people might argue otherwise, but they are there, and seem fairly obvious to me. I guess my point is that transformation is almost always a gamble with complex transformations. You rarely get a perfect figure when it also has a complex transformation involving lots of metal.

I think there's a good point in here somewhere. The recognition of the adult toy collectors market by manufacturers has created some potential confusion as to the durability of these new 'toys' Taking robot toys as the example (although other areas seem the same), from a uninitiated perspective you can see pictures of these super posable, highly detailed renditions of toys that were previously quite basic by comparison. What the pictures don't tell you are that there is an inevitable compromise to the somewhat solid (childproof, if you like) construction. I think once you're 'in' most people accept the fact that to achieve the level of detail desired, the durability will suffer. To be honest, the majority of collectors seem happy to know 'it will do that' but mainly just to leave it on the shelf and occasionaly adjust the pose. All that said (and it semed to take a while ), I can see Dricks's point. Even if I don't play withy my toys that much, I still want to think I can. Aquarion isn't my style, but from what I've read I think this wouldn't be for me, even if it was. Personally I buy all sorts of stuff, vintage, modern kids toys (megazords, etc) and modern adut colectables (SOC etc) so I guess I accepet each for what it is. But I would love to own something with the detail and posability of a SOC that had a fighting chance of surviving a header off the top shelf (I think I've rambled on enough )

GX-13 is a pretty good balance between durable toy and still looks cool. I think with any figure there's always going to be "weaknesses". Even with the Popy originals, sure they are durable, but they only had maybe four or five joints at most. I wouldn't try to say that Aquarion is perfect or anything, but there's no way I would stand behind the CM GGGG either. Lest anyone forgets, they had two tries to get it right, and they completely failed the first time around while screwing everyone over who paid the $600 smack in the face.
