Can't tell you much other than I used to have that exact toy. I got it when I was very young at our local swap meet. Wish I still had it! Where did you find it?

I just picked up a DMZ-04 Rabidlydog for $109 from a seller on Ebay and I am very impressed! This is my first in this series and I cannot believe the amount of detail Takara put into this dog. I have been collecting primarily the vintage 1/24 and 1/60 Takara Scopedogs and I had no idea that this guy was so monstrous. Would of been nice to have a little more metal content but the overall quality is outstanding. Also purchased a CMs Shadow Flare from BBTS for $19.99. I was a little disappointed with this one. The look is great but the material is a very rubbery plastic and it smells like bad plastic. I never thought I would comment on the smell of a toy! For 20 bucks it was a good buy but anything over that would be too much. I am awaiting delivery of a 1/24 Takara Slashdog from a friend in Japan now, cannot wait to see this one up close.

Does anyone know which figures were released back in the 80's in the 1/24 scale? I have the Scopedog, Brutishdog, and the Red Shoulder Scopedog but in the manual that came with the Scopedog they show a Marshydog. Was this guy ever released as a Dual Model? I could be wrong, but don't think Marshydog ever got the Duel Model treatment. It did have a Takara 1/24 scale model kit. If memory serves me right, the old Duel Models only comes in these forms: Scopedog with parachute backpack, Scopedog with Roundmover, Brutishdog, Red Shoulder Custom, and the all red Slashdog (PS1 game limited figure). Some of these have re-issues in slight different color variations. If you enjoy votoms toy info, consider getting a copy of the current Hobby Japan Plus vol.4. It has a very big coverage on votoms stuff from 1983-2007, as well as a bunch of very nice custom models. Thank you for the response! Where could I locate a copy of Hobby Japan Vol. 4? I am very interested in picking up as many of the 1/24 scale Takara dual models as I can find. They are so well made. They look great next to my Takara Dougram Dual Models as well.

Definitely nice to see new Danguard Ace goodies but this one does not look that great. I still have my fingers crossed for a SOC version. This version seems to lack detail and just looks cheap.

Received my Godmars from Beta Toys today. Thank you again to Beta for such great service and quick delivery. Not too much to add on the review front that everyone else has already touched on. The one thing I would add is that this is the most playable large SOC for me to date. I am not in fear of breaking anything and the transformation is easy and Godmars just looks great. To me Godmars and Baikanfu are the most play friendly SOCs out. Funny that they are # 39 and 40. I think it really shows how far this line has come. Looking forward to Reideen in a couple of weeks.

I want to thank whoever canceled their pre-order at Beta Toys. I lucked out and mine is now on the way! I can't wait this looks like it is going to be one of the best SOCs to date.

u guys don't think the legs are too long? anyone know were is the best place and best price to order? wilson I think when his arms are at his sides his legs do not look too long but when they are above his head as in the second photo posted God Mars looks like an Amazon Woman. I stopped by Kimono My House on Friday and was talking a bit with Yuki about God Mars and he did not seem to like the new design much for the very reason the legs look too long. For me I do not have a problem. The only problem I have is that God Mars is not in my hands right now!

They are great and I highly recommend them. Great prices, great service. The only complaint I have is they use Fedex Ground which sucks. I am in California and they are in New York and I am impatient. So I usually prefer Priority Mail.

I hope he is not over the $200 mark and he comes out at least three months after Baikenfu. Otherwise I may be in trouble with my wife.

I would definitely go with Dancouga. I have both and am terribly disapointed with my Voltes. I know there have been some bad reviews of Dancouga but I have yet to have any problems with him. Voltes on the other hand gets loose very fast. I have only played with it a handful of times and he will barely stand up on his own. It always wants to lean forward. The other issue is the hands and how they attach with the ball. My Voltes can no longer hold the sword, it just flops down. Quite dissapointing. Buy Dancouga.

YEah I feel the same way. I am already scoping out the Dragonar and the Salena (I may have misspelled both of those!). Dragonar looks just as good as the Layzner and the Black Salena just looks wicked in my opinion.

I know I am late to the Layzner party. I just picked one up this past weekend in San Francisco at CCC Central on Geary. Great price and I have to say he is well worth getting if you do not have him already. Decent metal content all through his inner frame and all the armor pieces are very well made. He is very poseable and actually has a nice little heft to him. My only complaints would be as someone above already stated, getting the shoulder armor pieces on is a pain. I found it easiest to remove his arms altogether and install the armor. I could get a better grip on everything this way. The other minor gripe is that the armor tends to fall off very easy. His armor in the groin section, the thrusters on the chest armor, etc. Once he is all together though and you are not fiddling with installing armor pieces everything is fine. Great detail, opening hatches everywhere, great looking weapons, talking base, he is definitely worth the purchase. Here is a comparison pic Mojacko

Yep, San Bruno to be exact. I am not too far from there now (Napa, CA) but I miss the fog as well. It is weird growing up we kind of hated it, never being able to wear shorts and all, but I sure miss it now. When I was little we used to pretend that we lived on Hoth because of the fog.
I will have to check out GX-09MA, I never really though about purchasing any of the girl bots.

I thought you guys would also give your brief reviews on your collection. Maybe our collective feedback would help folks decide Which SOC to get. OK I will try, I do not have as many SOC's as you though! My list will start with my favorites and work down. Please note though, I do not own any SOC's that I really dislike. I would not own them if I did not like them. 1 - GX-23 Zambot - I really like Zambot. I know he is not much of a favorite anywhere else but he was my fifth SOC and I got him as a present from my wife. The box is so big and when I pulled him out of the box there was a great feeling of weight that was very satisfying. I love his Samurai style as well. His transformation is not hard and he looks great on my shelf. My only gripe with him is that he tends to want to lean forward unless you pose him just right. 2 - GX-12 Dancouga - I just got Dancouga this year in Taiwan and had a little trouble when I purchased him because I do not speak Taiwanese. I ended up getting a open box and when I got back to the hotel to check him out the grey portions were yellowed from being displayed. The merchant was nice enough to exchange though. Dancouga rocks. Another heavy combiner. Transforation not too difficult and he just looks bad ass. He is so detailed. Only gripe with him would be the eagle head is a little flimsy. 3 - Ideon - Wow is all I can say about this guy. If it were not for the sentimental value that Zambot holds and his kind of weird waist joint he would be my number one. He has an incredible amount of die cast, easy transformation, and is probably the most playable SOC to date. Also he is huge! But that weird waste joint which made mine want to tip over for a while has stuck him in third. 4 - GX-35 Walker Gallier - I was so amazed at this little SOC. Really heavy toy for its size. He is just cool all around. Transformation is cool and again he looks good on the shelf. No complaints. 5 - GX-18,19,20 Getter Dragon, Liger, and Poseidon - Dragon was actually my first SOC. Again I purchased him in Taiwan a year or so back. I got him because I used to have Shogun Warriors as a kid and watched the cartoons growing up in Daily City. This whole set is so well made from the amount of die cast to the incredible detail. I just finished up the team recently with Getter Liger. I do not know why I waited so long to get him he is just as cool as Dragon and Poseidon. 6 - GX-27 Gaiking - Again this guy was a must buy for me being a Shogun Warrior fan. Very truthful to the original. Again my only gripe is that he also seems like he wants to tip over. 7 - GX-05R - Daikumaryu - I was a little tricked with this one. When I bought it I could not find any pictures that put the toy to scale. So I thought that the little Gaiking that came with him was full size. I was bummed when I found out he wasn't but was stoked about Daikumaryu. For anyone who does not own him, imagine a softball size piece of die cast in your hand and you will get the picture. Great toy. Complaints on this one are all of his acessories fall off if you look at them. His horns, the little red blades on his tail, everything is very sensitive. But just sitting there he is very cool looking and a great addition, especially if you like Gaiking. 8 - GX-34 Gunbuster - I really was expecting more of Gunbuster. Don't get me wrong he is one bad ass robot. But the transformation is so convoluted this is what gets him the number eight spot. Other than that one problem he is an amazingly detailed SOC. His weapons look great when he is posed. Also just like Mazfan said, the fact that those two ships form this robot amazes me. I just wish it were not so difficult. 9 - GX-06 Getter Team - I just got the reissue of this set and really like them. They remind me of some Miconauts I had growing up. The black and white guys with all the magnetic joints. It is just plain fun swapping these guys parts around and making different looking robots. Again great use of die cast and amazing detail. 10 - GX-31 Voltes V - Awe the SOC I had the highest hopes for. Please do not get me wrong this is still a amazing looking toy but it has a lot of flaws. More than any other SOC I own. My Voltes wants to fall over constantly. He currently has to rest with his back to the wall in order for him not to fall over. The hands that have the ball joint are so loose already that he cannot hold his sword up (and I do not even play with him!). The head when switching to ship mode does not close all the way so it looks really lame half transformed. I know not everyone has the same problems but it seems that I got a real lemmon. All that being said because I love SOCs so much I still like him. I just wanted to like him more because I grew up watching him. 11 - GX-01R - Mazinger Z - Got this guy this year in Taiwan as well. I am not a huge fan of Mazinger but I love SOCs so I bought him. He has great detail and a good amount of Die Cast. Super poseable as well. No problems with this guy. 12 - GX-03 Combattler V - Another SOC I had such high hopes for. My biggest issue with him is the complete lack of detail. When you compare him next to Voltes it is obvious. Instead of clear plastic windows where there should be windows, they are painted. My little GT-08 Combattler has more detail, that is very sad. Again my love for these toys keeps me from disliking him, but I do have my gripes. 13 - GX-28 Xabungle - I had a Xabungle toy as a kid so I was super excited about getting this guy. There is a ton of detail there but it is hard to see because he is so Tiny! Also the lack of Die Cast is what lands this guy at the bottom of my list. If he had more metal I could get over the fact he is so dinky. That is all I have right now. Although I plan on picking up GX-33 Leopardon, GX-38 Iron Gear, GX-39 Baikanfu, GX-40 Raideen, GX-41 or 42 Godmars, and if I can find one for a good price GX-04S Grendizer.

Are you still in San Francisco? If so it is just a short ride over the Bay Bridge to Emeryville and you can go visit Yuki at Kimono My House. Awesome store if you have never been there I highly recommend it! Great read as well. I really love the SOCs as well but my favorites definitely are the large transforming ones like Ideon, Dancouga, Zambot, and Gunbuster. Really looking forward to the GX-38,39,40, and what ever number God Marz ends up being.

I think it was the darker blue. I actually have the GX-05R and agree that is the one to get.

I highly recommend the GX-05 tons of die cast in it. It is almost soft ball sized and solid metal. Very satisfying! The little Gaiking that comes with can dock inside as well. Nice thing about this set is you can usually find it very cheap on Ebay.

Have to agree with you on the Iphone, one of the best purchases I have made in the last few years. I use it for both business and personal use. I almost never have to turn on my computer now. I love it and recommend it to anyone on the fence. Also love the SOC's just picked up Getter Liger to complete that set.
