License or not we know Icarus will deliver. Lol More like Icarus, then Magictoy, then Bubuland 'we-have-the-license' toy, then a loonngggg wait, then released with good quality with shadowy license clarification :-D

So to sum up: KOB is a good product adored by many Voltron fans Icarus claims it's licensed. WEP, the sole license grantor, says it's not as confirmed by at least four sources. I deduced that KOB was not, is not, and likely will not ever be a licensed product. Therefore, Icarus lied and still lies to their customers. Some fans don't mind and love it anyways. Let's move on! Have a good one guys. Concise and accurate. I love the KoB v2 (not the v1 though, small head, no wrist swivel), and as a gokin, it IS impressive. That being said, lying about licensing is unethical. As a customer, while we want the best Voltrons out there, we must be careful not to morally support companies that misuse/lie about the licensing they have. The license holder is the legitimate property owner, and we must respect that.

The thing that bugs me the most about Netflix's Voltron toy is that it is almost perfect; get rid of the electronics in the black lion to give way for waist and torso articulations, reduce the green and red lions size, reengineer the red and green lions' head to enable it to shorten for the combined form, and reengineer the black lion shoulders so that it doesn't have to move for Voltron arms articulation.
But yeah, the whole 'fixed priced point' for the lions and it's designed to be played by kids and such..
just ranting haha.. this has probably been lamented to death :-D

Sadly not the case. Playmates has an exclusive license for the Dreamworks Voltron. Bandai can't touch it yet.ย hmmmm lets call Mad Toys By the time Mad Toys manage to show a prototype picture, Bandai would have the license already ๐๐๐

To be honest, the coloured Voltron paint job is not really good for the asking price. DOn't get me wrong, the colour itself is gorgeous, just the application. Reminded me A LOT of the way Miracle Works Vehicle Voltron was painted. Then again, as pointed out by others, this could be the demo version, and not the mass produced ones.

All the lions, with the sole exception of the Black Lion, have heads bigger than their behinds.. it'd be really weird looking in lion modes..

CollectionDX has a written/pictorial review of the Stealth EX. The review didn't address the major problems such as the ball jointed hips and restricked waist swivel though. Still, the Stealth EX has a very beautiful paint scheme, compared to the rather drab KoB Stealth (as seen in their promo pics so far) CollectionDX Toynami Ultimate Ex Voltron (Stealth)

I'm not getting it simply because it's too "near" design-wise to the SoC. If the SoC didn't exist, I would have gotten v2 KoB. But, the SoC is now in my hands.
By "near" I meant it's not too different from the SoC like say the EX is to the SoC. Design wise (notwithstanding quality or price), I personally think the EX represents the alternate Voltron look more.

Licensing and quality of a product are two different things. Related, but can be discussed separately. No one's denying that the KoB v1 is a labor of love and of high quality. But collectors do have a reason to worry when the v2 has gone thru company changes and such. There's no real review of the v2 yet. As with the Toynami Ultimate Ex before it was released, I wouldn't judge the product until one is being reviewed. And just like the Ex where people are wary of the quality because it's released by Toynami, so do I think people are wary of KoB v2 because of the company change issue.
Also, I think respect is due in any discussion, and that includes contribution from experts in their own area. They've given their say, and those opinion are good for us to make a much more informed decision.

The Dark Lion Force version doesn't really stand out, especially when the limb lions only have two colours (black and gold)... would be nice if there's some original lion colour accent on those black bodies. But the new head does look better. and those weapons are dope!

got my Miracle VV to pose beside the SoC Golion.. really night and day difference when it comes to quality! the SoC is REALLY hefty and solid! probably the heaviest SoC I've handled so far.. right out of the box, the SoC has some kinda oily film over the surface .. like most gundam kits. kinda make it a fingerprint magnet (can almost see my fingerprint smudge on the red part of the chest), but nothing a cleaning wipe couldn't handle. but man, i'm still surprised at how heavy and solid this Golion is! Bandai did Voltron justice!

Was combining my Miracle Toys Vehicle Voltron (it has been disassembled a few months ago for storage) to be displayed with my SOC Golion and discovered that the VV joints are getting loose, particularly the hip and elbow joints.. sigh. it's not bad, but it wasn't as tight as the first time I assembled it.. really hope Bandai will do Dairugger too..

Nice photos of the official IcarusToys' Voltron (from member dante78 of TFW2005 forum): Apart from the awfully thin waist (just like the v1 KoB), i really like the looks and look, there're wrist swivel!!! not getting this one though, cos already have the SoC. But KoB v2 does look very good! Congrats to those who preordered him

Hey is this caveman guy the only person who bought this thing? I was looking for more videos and all I got was his. LMAO!!! Not everyone who bought collectibles review them.. I have a few SOCs, a sizable amount of 3rd party TFs myself, but i haven't done any review. :-D

Another review from Caveman, this one for the articulations in combined mode.. still a bummer about the ball-jointed hip and that mis-designed waist collar that restricted waist swivel, but it's still a big articulated Voltron

This thing looks incredible. What are people's problems with it? I for one am very enthusiastic about it, but i get why there are negative opinions on it: 1. the pricepoint is ridiculously high for an all-plastic combiners. Even if the size makes up for it, it cannot really justify the price when 3rd party combiner transformers are at the same pricepoint AND can individually transform. 2. the non-ratcheted hip joints.. quite a bummer. 3. the shoulders of the black lion in combined mode; came undone in the Stealth Ex review. i do love the uniqueness and size of it, so yea, i'm sold for a poseable display piece, it looks awesome! i just realised that in the lion modes of the Stealth Ex review, the reviewer discovered some odd articulations on the red and green lions heads (the upper jaw splits in two and can articulate). Could it be to emulate 'fingers' in combined mode, with the lower jaw as thumb?
