LOL! Guess I took for granted that everyone knew what I was talking about since they are so common here in the south For those not in the know, "Truck Nuts" are chromed scrotoms w/ testicles (nut sacks, ball sacks, etc...) that hang off the trailer hitch of pickup trucks. They even have their own lock and key in case someone were to try to steal your nuts

Didn't their Genesic GaoGaiGar have serious durability issues too? Or was that some other company? It did, both the DX and the Brave Gokin. They actually came out with Version 2.0 of both to fix the issues that they had. The version 2.0 Brave Gokin wasn't labeled as such so you don't know what version you have until you open it and see the difference in accessory trays, the DX version has white writing on the box to differentiate it. I have both in the version 1s sitting in a stack of things I've yet to open. I'm dreading getting to them because I fear they might both come out broken. It would be awesome if CMs came out with the Version 2.0 Grendizer like they did with the Star GGG, GGG and both versions of GGGG, but sell it at $150 or less. I'd definitely buy one. I'd love to get one of these Grendizers for myself, but not at the price they are charging and with the RAMPANT QC issues. St most I would pay $100 for the current version.

Unfortunately not. That picture is a few years old now. I think they decided to go with the less ambitious Big Order Room instead, which turned out AMAZING! It would be awesome to see more projects like that come out.

Damn that thing is beautiful. I meant to preorder it at Amiami but never got around to it and the price on Amazon (who still list it as preorder) went up $10 in the last few days. Guess I have to wait for someone to thin out their collection or sell off an extra to get a deal.

That could definitely be a possibility. Seeing as how Dave is really the only entitiy WEP could easily go after and with the evidence in this thread he had a huge hand in making this thing happen, Dave could very well have received a cease and desist letter from WEP and they very well could have confiscated his merchandise. I work in a legal office and the one thing the attorneys say and have me say when interacting with clients is "Shut Your Mouth". As the Miranda Warning says, anything you say (or type nowadays) can and will be used against you. Once something is sent in an email or posted in Facebook there is a permanent record that can and will be subpoenaed.
Of course that could all be bullsh*t and Dave is just a lowlife, but we won't know until something comes to light.

I'm with ancestral on this. I'm just not feeling this design. The hips being so wide really irk me the most. It's a nice start, but I feel design work needs to be continued on it. Plus they need to remove those loops below his crotch. I live in the south and "Truck Nuts" can be seen on every other trailer hitch. Whenever I see those loops all I can think of is Maz hanging some "Truck Nuts".

While it would have been much much better if it was a new bot or even the announced GGG, I'm not upset by it. I actually want Daitarn 3 but failed to get it upon it's first release, so this gives me a chance to get one at a much cheaper price than the around $400 I see them selling at.

Baron, you've done more than any normal human should. You've gone above and beyond in this debacle.

I had thought about Ideon because of the size and presence, but then I read the thread regarding the issues with the shoulder joint breaking and the fact that it appears to be a very common and inevitable issue on pieces that have been displayed. I just don't want to get involved with a piece I know will break and will be extrememly difficult to fix and costly to replace.

I think I'll go with the Go Nagai bots as I grew up with Force Five and Tranzor Z (both, long with Speed Racer, being my first exposure to anime at a very impressionable age). I can definitely see how SOC collecting will be a wallet destroyer. I'm now eyeing the DX Maz with the seperate DX Scrander, that thing looks like a beast that will look amazing in my displays.

I've decided to delve into the world of SOC but I have no clue where to begin. What are people's recommendations for my first one? I've thought about getting the Grendizer GX-04S or Leopaldon both for play value and display value. Display value though is definitely more important to me.

Bowhntr, Bet this will be so much more satisfying than just buying a near mint specimen. Bringing a long thought dead jumbo back to life. That's the difference between a toy lover and a toy collector.

Wow...just wow! Mike, you have some amazing skills! I'm completely in awe of your work! I'd kill for some of those repros....hell, I'd kill for those minis you made! You should make a custom Alphonse Ingram from Patlabor...I'm a sucker for that show and the robot design.

I you don't mind me asking, what was the time and cost to repro them? Like you, a Q9 is out of my budget, but an amazing quality repro could be.

Which ones exactly are repro pieces? Obviously the Garada but is the Q9? I remember seeing a site that had someone reproing the whole jumbo and it cost over a $1k just to do that.

I've been back every day just to drool over those images. It just dawned on me that this is what $100k+ of jumbos looks like.

Congratualtions! Sell me your Hasami Jaguar so you won't be complete and will still be in the hunt This is a very interesting crossroads you have hit and it will be interesting to see where you go with it. I had a similar instance years back when I was collecting Diaclones. I ended up where I wanted to be and had 90% of the line, then after about a year I cracked and sold it all. While I loved the pieces, my collection lost value to me because it wasn't just the pieces themselves, but the thrill of the hunt that was part of it and the satisfaction of adding to my collection. With nothing left to hunt I lost interest. I've yet to get back in to collecting as hardcore as I was, but what I am collecting I am taking very very slowly so as not to burnout. I've passed on great deals just to extend the life of my collecting.

We just have to realize that these pieces that were "common" a few years ago and now seem incredibly rare are still out there in someone's collection and there is a good chance that they will reenter the marketplace as collectors move on to other lines or other priorities.

I remember that too. I believe it was ToyboxDX. Their mod was a bit more invasive in that they cut new angular slots for the horns.
