Thanks! Glad you like my pics. The vintage Combatler, Voltes and Dairugger were sold complete as DXs, or the vehicles could be purchased seperately as Popinica. Thanks! So correct me if Im wrong..this is the modern version of popynica but combining correct? This is in line with dx line? Dx - non combining Soul of popynica - combining Thanks fam The origin of the term DX is "deluxe". Large, vintage Gokins with lots of goodies had this moniker. DX robots may or may not be combiners. Not to confuse things, but smaller Chogokin were named ST. This means "standard". Popinica were vehicles. Often, they were parts of a DX Combiner packaged separately. Does that make sense?

No matter what happens with 2.0, I'm so glad I have the 1st version. The SOC is the definitive modern Voltron. The original KOB is unique and different. It stands alone.

honestly the dx great mazinger was good but not as good as the DX Mazinger, that pieice of awesomeness will always have a special place in my heart and mind, it will always be the crown of my collection S_Gokin - Buy low... sell high, Buddy! DX Mazinger Z with Scrander costs Double. The Great Mazinger's rock bottom price presents an opportunity. Also, not one RJ member has had a single issue with DX Great.

I never owned the GX50 and the prices are really high on it at the moment. Never owned a DX and most likely this would be my first one - I do hope that they sell it in parts (just my opinion) as one go is just too much for my poor wallet. I'm looking forward on it - so no news about this bad boy? I'm sure if this is a hit - DX SOC Voltes will be next This is a Soul of Popinika release. So, the vehicles will be sold separately. Also, I DEFINITELY can't wait for this!

Really cool photo summary on your friend's blog, Buzzerbeater. It's astounding how many variants there are. Here are two of the three in my collection. They are probably the most common, but there's something to be said for a classic: The 15" Matchbox Combiner displays beautifully. I got this one factory sealed. I won the sword at auction on eBay. I probably paid too much for it, but it's nice and shiny. I think it's from Korean manufacturer DY Toys. If any of you know otherwise, please let me know. My Son also has one in very good condition that he plays with and displays in his room. I bought this for my Son's 8th birthday six weeks ago from TF Source for $130.00. It was factory sealed and had the nicest box I could find. At the time, there were four new ones on eBay as well. Now, there is just 1 loose one. It seems like these are getting kind of scarce. Because of Voltron's resurgence, I'm also noticing a lot more bidders on the combiners when they come to auction. So, I definitely recommend picking a Dairugger up; but you may want to consider it in the near future.

Back to the GX-71 vs. KOB debate. Bandai's Voltron is possibly the best combiner of all time. It's perfect. It's completely anime accurate. It's heavy. The paint... the materials... it's super high quality all around. For me, it sets the modern standard.
There have been others. The original GoLion is glorious. I have 2, and they are definite centerpieces of my collection. But, the articulation is extremely limited.
The Masterpiece was highly desirable for years, because it offered greater posability, a modern look, and high quality. But, it's floppy. It barely stands straight. And the limbs fall off.
The KOB brought something new - a unique style, for starters. Is it a purist's Voltron? No. But it stands out. Anywhere I post pics I get a HUGE response. People notice this piece. It's articulation is spectacular. I love the 360° swivel waste. It can hold a frickin' high kick, for God's sake. And, it is solid. Nothin' loose here. The ratchets are extremely satisfying. It's packed with diecast.
As a Voltron collector, there's something so different about the KOB that I absolutely love. It's a mavric piece. It took all the conceptions of what Voltron was and completely rearranged them. As long as collectors are passionate about chogokin, Voltrons will be reimagined, reengineered and reproduced. But, there will never be another quite like the KOB.

Sorry for the delay. Believe it or not it has been sitting in the packaging box and I finally opened it on Saturday. It came with four antenna. How do you like it? How is the quality level?

So a couple questions to any Dairugger gurus out there: 1) Is the list above still accurate? 2) Is there a good website/page were we can see photos of the different versions? Ideally with some discussion of what to look for? 3) Popy's GB-72 Dairugger seems to be made in 2 different boxes... one is brown and kind of looks like a whiskey box. Are they the same (size) toy? Thanks! Dairugger XV / Vehicle Voltron is awesome. The design is marvelous. It's a must for any vintage collector. I have 2 Matchbox Combiners and an ST. I was lucky enough to find one of the DXs factory sealed in my local comic book shop for $200! Definitely my best score "in the wild". Do you plan to collect them all? Where do you think you'll start?

I'm desperately hoping for the release. I think with Voltron's resurgence, the upcoming Mazinger Z Movie, and Pacific Rim's polularity there is a good chance. The USA is a huge market that Toei and Bandai want a piece of. Let's keep our fingers crossed and pray to the Mecha Gods that it happens.

I'm extremely excited about the live action Voltron movie. Universal Studios has been working on it for some time. I'm sure it will be first rate, as this is such a beloved franchise with limitless potential. I started a thread about this in November, but I don't think anybody noticed, as the mods moved it to "Break Time". Here's the link. I really think we should keep each other informed about this incredible news. robotjapan.proboards.com/thread/24494/action-voltron-announced-universal-studios
