But, the hanger only holds some of the armor - not the scrander or swords. You'll have to figure that part out.

Excellent idea. Aside from divorce court, do what it takes to get the DX Great Mazinger!

Does your son get to open them up and play with them? He'll get to open them. (The Voltron I is still sealed). Going on age 8, he's already an astute collector. He'll be excited to display these in his room with his Matchbox Vehicle and Lion Force Voltrons, Legacy Megazord, Gardian, and Dynaman with Daijupiter. Some gentle play will occur. But, he likes to keep them nice!

Greetings everyone. My name is Ron, and I found this board while trying to see if Bandai made an SoC DX Grendizer. I have enjoyed giant robot anime since I was a kid, but when you add a wife, kids, and a career into the mix, the hobbies end up taking a back seat for a little while. I got a chance to read Ready Player One during a flight a couple weeks ago, and it re-ignited all that I missed about anime/mecha. So here's hoping Bandai releases the Grendizer we all deserve, and that my wallet doesn't suffer too badly while I catch up on time lost. Welcome, Chunk! I'm 43 with a wife, kids, and a career as well. I got serious about Super Robot collecting four years ago. It's something I enjoy with my eight year old son; every time a new Gokin arrives it brings us closer. This is an excellent hobby for a family man, and a great distraction from the rigors the weekday. Please, don't be shy... we're glad to have you here!

By the way, can any soul of Chogokin collector confirm if the plastic they use on these products is the same type we see in the Legacy zords? I got the Legacy Megazord for my 8 year old. It's very nice. Coming from the era when Matchbox Voltrons filled the shelves of Toys R Us, I think this is the level of quality all toys should have. But, the SOC plastic is absolutely far superior in every way. There's no comparison. I haven't really been paying attention to this thread, because as soon as I saw the initial pics I knew I was getting it. It's beautiful. It's exactly what I want in a Megazord, and I'm looking forward to adding it to my collection next month. I don't think this robot has attained the pop icon status of Voltron in the States. But, people have been collecting Super Sentai/ Power Rangers stuff for years. The kids who loved Power Rangers season 1 are now in their thirties. They have expendable incomes and children who are fans. When it releases, reviews by collectors who have never handled an SOC will peek interest in this massive fanbase. I'm confident it will sell well.

Sorry I'm late to the party, and I'm not sure if I'm still on topic anymore. But, I wanted to address the subject of new collectors.
I've gotten away from Facebook because the political posts drive me bonkers. So, I spend time on Google+. It's actually a cool place to display a collection, and there are communities tailored to all interests. My wife works in education, and I mentioned to her that there were a surprising amount of young people on the service. She informed me that many high schoolers aren't allowed on Facebook, but they all have Google accounts.
There is a very popular "Mecha" community. (It has more members than Voltron's does). It's devoted to both Super and Real Robots. In a recent poll, the members actually prefer Super Robots to Real Robots 58% to 42%. These kids are really into it! Images and clips of the Mazingers, Getters, Grendizer and other classic SRs are a mainstay. Also, modern variants such as Gurren Lagann are popular. These kids are classic Anime and Kaiju fanatics. Their depth and breadth of knowledge is startling - recently there was a post comparing and contrasting the Space Emperor God Sigma and Taio Sentai Sun Vulcan shows.
I contribute collection pics a couple times a week - and they're a huge hit! My recent EX Gokin Mazinger 1969 photo has more likes than anything on the board; my DX Great Mazinger shoot is a close second. These kids can't afford $300+ Gokins right now... but I'm planting a seed. Some do have the budget for SRCs, and they have started putting up action shots. It's really cool to see.
So, I do think there is a future for our hobby. It's always been a niche in the USA, and probably always will be... but, it's a niche that will survive.

you will be amazed by the quick shots in Grendizer that gives you more details about the design and i honestly didn't watch Gaiking Sorry to go off topic, but S_Gokin, you really should watch "Gaiking: The Legend of Daiku Maryu" from 2006. It's absolutely excellent.

woops....Here's a question though. Does this information make this figure MORE collectible or no? It's both yes and no. It makes it a rarer figure. It will have value to a specific type of Collector. But not as broad of an appeal as something official like the SOC. The two best examples are likely the old Chinese "Lionbot" that was a really good copy of the Popy, and the Miracle Metals Vehicle Voltron. Both remain collectible, to the right interested parties, but neither hits the aftermarket value or pricing that the authentic product does. MMVV can still be found at or slightly below MSRP. I think both the Toynami MP and the EX will see a greater long term rise in aftermarket price or value. I've only been collecting robots for four years. Many of you guys know way more about this stuff than I do. But, I do understand economics. In the USA, Voltron's demand is at an all time high. In stores like Walmart, you can't find a single lion for the Legendary Defender combiner - and it was released several months ago. As a kid, I was swept up by the craze in 1985. (I'm still not over it!). With a total of six seasons hitting Netflix and a movie announced, Voltron has never been hotter than right now. Everyone on RJ who wants this figure already got it the first time around. But, there is a massive influx of new collectors in the States who want more than one version of this robot. Everywhere I post pictures of the KOB V1, it gets a huge response. Coupled with the fact that pre-orders have been up on eBay and other shops for several months, there is a real buzz. And, overall the reviews of the first edition (Collection Dx) are great (as opposed to the MA01). Demand is high for this product in the USA. And, at least here, it does look like it will be hard to get. Also, seven or eight months ago on eBay, used, mint KOBs actually sold for $450+. So, I forcast the value to go up.

Do you guys foresee the DX Great Mazinger piece also being as pricey in the future too? If you need any more of a motivator, check out my pics in the "Toys In Action Thread": robotjapan.proboards.com/post/383059/thread

$399 for the GM? I have forgotten how much it costs initially, but thought 399 is a decent price now. But have to check out the shipping costs too, this is one big and heavy fella. $399 from originally $519 according to BBTS pricing. I'm more inclined to buy now. One of the things that made me hesitant to purchase GM when it originally came out other than price was that I wasn't happy with how DX Mazinger's chest armor and the elbows popped off easily. I assume [or hope] these issues have been corrected with GM I don't think anybody has had any issues with the DX Great Mazinger. It's really an all around excellent Gokin.

I see it going up, maybe not as fast or as high as DX Mazinger but once stock dries up sooner or later it will go up. Especially if they make a DX Grendizer and continue the line you WILL get completeists who will want to whole set and sellers who are more than welcome to oblige at a healthy mark-up off course. OK, I better make plans to get one before supplies dry up. I noticed bbts.com lowered their price to $399. I wonder if that's the lowest around. I got mine from the BBTS for $399, and I'm so glad I did. I love it. As for as I know, that's the best price you'll find.

Cool. Thanks on my video. No Sun Vulcan is only the first combining megazord, not transforming. The first 4 megazords were single robots that transformed from jets or ships. Sun Vulcan got to be the first combiner. And yes gotta love Sun Vulcan. Great robot. Hope you get him fixed. Oh... the first combiner. You really know your stuff. Thanks for the information and thanks for your help.

Is the GoLion/Voltron GX-71 going to be re-released? I thought I heard somewhere it's getting another run or re-release soon. I just have to many pre-orders in the pipeline right now to get the GX-71 right now. I would definitely make the GX-71 a top priority.

Both are fairly uncommon. Which one is more rare? Honesty, I'm not sure. Anyway, nice find. Enjoy!
