Very cool! I like the reflection effect! Was that part of the original photo or was added later? Hi, Guys. Sorry it took me a few days to respond. I'm normally on here daily, but I've been very busy. To create this pic, I used my Android phone, and photo editing software found on Google Play. Most of the software is free. If you like an app, sometimes there is an option to upgrade. I only upgrade if it offers the ability to save pictures with higher resolution. The most it will cost is $3 or $4. Here's the original photo. I took it under direct, bright overhead light with a white background. To create an original piece, I started with an app called ToolWiz. It's free and it's excellent. If you find yourself using it often, you can remove the adds for $1.99. To give the Daku a wet look, I applied an effect called "Deep Render". There are many options. So, experiment and find a look you like. Next, I added ToolWiz's "Water Reflection" effect. This is very simple. For the sky, I used an app named PhotoDirector. It has a great "Blender" feature, where you can blend two photos together. This is a little more involved. But, with this function you can place your robots literally in any scene you can find on the web. I get backgrounds from various wallpaper apps. If you like this feature, this is the one app I do recommend upgrading from the free version: because, for $2.99 you can save and share with the highest quality level. For detailed instructions, check out my post on the Daltanious thread: robotjapan.proboards.com/thread/17130/gx-59-daltanius?page=51 Finally, I wanted the water to shimmer. To do this, I went back to ToolWiz, selected "Decorate" and added a "Flare" that looked cool. I manipulated and erased part of the effect. And, Voila... an original take on a classic diecast piece! Here's an Evolution Toy Gaiking I just finished: Photo editing is something anyone can do with a little practice. I like it, because it allows me to express my creativity. My wife likes it, because instead of spending $300+ monthly on Gokins I'm enjoying the figures I already have. It took me a weekend to figure out my first app. In a few days I had some really cool pics. Once you learn on one, the others are simple. The technology increases rapidly, and new free apps are available almost weekly. Different apps have certain strengths, so I try them all. With time, your ability will increase and you'll come up with a style of your own. My original pics get thousands of views on Google+. (Nobody even uses G+ - I figured it would be a good place to start before moving on to Instagram, Facebook, and Twitter. Once I have a larger body of work I'll get involved with the more popular services). Maybe this is more information than you guys are looking for, but I like to help my friends on RJ in any way I can. If anybody viewing this has any questions, or would like to get started in photo editing... please, don't hesitate to contact me.

Thanks Coletron! DX Great Maz is still MISB since i don't have a place for him yet. I'm thinking of getting a custom acrylic display case big enough to house the hangar with its doors open. Good for you. It will be worth the wait if you can to display Great with the hangar. I wish I had the room. But, space for my collection is definitely at a premium.

I got annoyed with the third guy saying that American collectors didn't know about SOC. That we think SHF Dragon ball figures are so expensive and had to really expand our minds to comprehend the cost of SOC Voltron! LOL I didn't watch the video, but I don't entirely disagree with the statement that American consumers can't comprehend the cost of SOC Voltron. I'm active on Google+. There is a Power Rangers community with 3,000+ members. I've been posting pics of my vintage Sentai Gokins, along with pics and info on the upcoming SOC. It all gets a really good response. But, it seems like people are kind of shocked when they find out the cost. Ranger fans post collection pics, and a Legacy Megazord will be the centerpiece, surrounded by Funko Pops, and maybe some action figures. Today, I asked a "collector" who'd posted a pic if he was planning on getting the SOC. He replied, "Nah. I'm waiting for the Zeo stuff." I can't wait for Daizyujin. I just hope there's a market in the States. I really want the SOC line to expand here. (No offense is meant to any Power Ranger fans on this board. You guys are obviously serious collectors, and I'm glad you're here!)

[/a]

Mishari, I've gotten involved in Google+ because all of the US politics have driven me from Facebook. It's not as widely used as other social media outlets, but it's an interesting demographic. Many young people aren't allowed to have Facebook accounts, but they all have Gmail. So, G+ is where they go. Instead of collecting gokins, these kids are really into manga and anime - they're fanatics. They love classic SRs, but don't have money for $300+ robots. So, they love my collection pics. A Mazinger 1969s I posted has 1,300 views. The Gaiking I recently contributed to the "Toys in Action" thread has 1,700. A Voltron pic I did has 2,400. My IG-88 (also in "Toys in Action") has 4,600 - now, when you Google "Super Robot" on the web, it's actually the 5th result. (Too bad it's not actually a SR.) I post them, because one day the younger generation will have expendable incomes, and hopefully bring longevity to our hobby. In fact, some have started putting up pics of SRCs. I started "Super Robot World" just 2 months ago. It's still pretty small, but new members join every single day. I'm also active in the "Mecha" and "Voltron" communities, which each have around 700 members. I appreciate your permission to post your beautiful Gaiking pics. In the header, I'll make it clear that they are from your collection. I'll also provide a link to your Instagram. Thanks!

[/a]
Sorry to go off topic, Everyone. Mishari - Recently, I started a Google+ Community called "Super Robot World". I really like those SOC Gaiking photos you did a while back. With your permission, I would like to feature some of them. Your name does appear on them. But if you'd like, I'll mention you by name in the post, as well. Also, I'll let the members know about any social media accounts you use. What do you say?

I'm working on a comic with some friends called Super Robot Mayhem, It's inspired by Super Robot Manga like Shin Mazinger, Evangelion, Gundam and other Cyberpunk storied like Akira and Ghost in the Shell. We even have one of the artists who worked on the Ghost in the Shell logo helping out. It would be great if you could take a look and let me know what you think View AttachmentView AttachmentThis looks really cool. What is your part in the comic? Writer? Artist? Also, Is the comic available for physical purchase or download? Or, do you have to contribute to the campaign? I'm active on Google+. The SR fans there are a different demographic than on RJ. They're younger. Instead of buying Gokins, they're really into manga and anime. I think they would be interested in this. I'd like a little more info. Then, I'll post some pics and your link on the communities to which I contribute. Thanks!

I took my son to the movie last weekend. If you're a fan of the show, you'll definitely like it. Billy is the best character. He has spectrum disorder, and he uses his strengths advance the Rangers' mission in an interesting way. He really holds the group together. Also, did you guys realize that Bryan Cranston plays Zordon? Pretty impressive!

The GX-72 looks more incredible all the time. The articulation is awesome, and it looks like it will have the same level of quality as the GX-71. I'm really getting excited!

I went to Toys R Us to buy my Son a birthday gift, and found this combining, GIANT Megazord with pilots! I'm not sure who was more excited.
It's definitely not a display piece, but it's a really cool toy with lots of play value. Gimmics include: electronic sound effects, firing missiles and catapults, gripping claws and a turret gun that replicates a firing mechanism. For a sense of scale, here it is with some big robots from my collection. (No, I didn't just buy these all as gifts for my kid).

Thanks coletron! Took about 6 months to collect. I sold Lot Of other figure lines and few Shogun Warriors to help pay for the collection. The small versions are in another case. Btw if you looking for DX Maz there's one on eBay on auction for a relatively "low" starting price. 😀 That's quite a collection you've put together in 6 months. Very impressive!
