bad ass! To be clear, I am finding a fewture Getter that appears to be the regular figure with the final battle parts included. Is that correct that they did a release like that? Or is it better to get repaint and the parts separately? There are four versions of Fewture's Getter 1 : 1) Original release; with white limbs and orange "shorts". 2) Repaint; with bluish white limbs and yellow "shorts". 3) Black Getter changing set; black repaint of the Getter 1 with parts to change it into the Black Getter. 4) Final Battle set; Some say it's a repaint, but I've never seen comparison pics (side-by-side on the same shot) and it looks a lot like the first release. Comes bundled with the damage parts. Only the 4th release came bundled with the damage parts, but Fewture released an optional accessory set for each version - so be sure to get the right one. If you want the damage parts, the Final Battle set - the most recent release - is probably going to be the most affordable option. I checked out pics of the versions and the final battle version has elements of the original and repaint but is also different (specifically the arm band colors - lighter gray instead of black). I agree with your thoughts though and am going for the Final Battle version. Actarus, the Aoshima version is great. I need to check out more of their builds. For the GX-06 SOC Getter, can it stand by itself or does it need a stand? I ask because I prefer no stand.

What's the opinion on the final battle Fewture Getter? It's the one with battle damage parts. Is it a repaint as well? the damage parts are parts from the final episode of the anime, they are made of plastic and unlike the metal parts they hold on the figure perfectly it can be sold separately for both Black Getter and Getter 1 here is some photos for Getter 1 repaint with the Damage parts bad ass! I edited my post as I see it was confusing. I am thinking of getting a Getter robo and a black Getter. If I get the GX 74 for the Getter robo and I get a fewture Getter, I need to decide if I get the black or just get two robo Getters. Damn that's a tongue twister 😜 Fair warning tho Both of Fewture Black Getter & Getter 1 have couple of design flaw, both of the chest and he stomach parts fall of easily, its an easy fix tho other than that its an absolute piece of art to look at also i recommend you get the repaint version Thanks for this advice! If i make a move on one of these, I will search for the chest solution.

These are amazing! First edition popy? What name do I search for if want to find them? I haven't run across these yet although I'm sure the price is high. Beautiful pieces.

That's great to hear about the new fans, Chogo. As a big pacific rim fan, I'm hoping the sequel helps create some interest. Titanfall is another series, video game of course, that is popular that helps create new fans. I don't play video games but I love the mech.

That sounds right. It might still exist but just be even a smaller niche market. I think the larger threat is VR. The current tech is pretty amazing. In twenty years it will be out of this world. Why own lots of stuff in real world when you spend most of time in VR. Just collect your stuff there in game or program. Collectors of the future will have lots of cheap stuff around. Having said that, I still enjoy physical art and therefore I will keep collecting.

I joined recently and in this short time have seen how great the community is here, so willing to share knowledge. Like many I grew up on Robotech, Voltron, Transformers, GoBots, and Zoids. During that time I bought a 5" diecast Shogun Warrior Mazinga from a garage sale and it immediately struck me with its amazing design. All those toys are gone but I when I was in Japan in 2015 I picked up a Hero Collection Great Mazinger and last year I picked up a vintage 5" Diecast Mazinga on eBay and was hooked. After joining this board, I have ordered a SRC anime Grendizer, a GX-45 shin Mazinger, and a GX-02R Tn 2016 Great Mazinger! As for interests, I like Mecha and Super robots (minus Voltron and Transformers). My main interest is for the art and aesthetic. I love sci-fi art. I picked up old super robot cel art in Japan as well - $5 each and stunning. Lightsabers are another aspect of my sci fi collecting.

Thanks all. I've decided on my holy trinity!
SRC anime Grendizer w/spazer, new ($120 w/shipping) - ordered. GX-45 shin Mazinger, used ($100 with shipping) - ordered. GX-02R TN 2016 Great Mazinger, preorder ($150 with shipping) - in process.
They will join their elder Vintage 5" popy Great Mazinger. Now onto Getter Robo and Black Getter....

Wow, the fewture Getter is insane! Wasn't too into their mazingers but this is amazing! Despite the price it's tempting. Here are my thoughts after looking at pics. I'm not sure about the big body. I lean toward the slimmer builds as far as aesthetic. I'm looking at them without capes or cowls, which I prefer - pure robot I will pass on SRC Getter ($85 new). Big body, least impressive. The sentinel Getter 1 and black Getter (each $100)- awesome joints and articulation, killer head sculpt, but not so into big body. I also read that's it's fragile from various reviews. Th GX-52 is another big body - not bad though. ($200) The GX-06 has that classic robot look - sleek, minimalist look, with stark features. I love the head sculpt. $200 used. The GX- 74 is similar and it's top on my list. I assume I could preorder for $150 or so. Final question - to fewture or not to fewture. I looked at both the black Getter and the Getter robo and they both rock. The Getter robo is my favorite. The black Getter is also bad ass and can be converted into a black version of the Getter robo. If I get the GX 74 for my Getter Robo, do I get the black fewture one or just forget black and get another Getter Robo with Fewture. The fewture Getter robo with the red and white is stunning. The fewture black has less of that contrast. Hard to decide. ($500 each)

The more I read about McFarlane toys the less I'm interested. I'll be passing on this.

Don't have gx-06, but take your pick... What is the Ova one on the far left? So those shoulder pieces come off? I like the design of the figure (pointy ears!) but would want to display without the shoulder pads.

The preorder price on this 10" beast is great and it has articulation. My concern is about quality. I read some reviews of McFarlane toys and they said quality was an issue, as in parts falling off, like limbs. Any experiences with McFarlane? Thoughts on this piece?

Does the GX-02R TN 2016 have rocket punch? I assume so, since it's predecessors did. Will the articulation be updated? What's a fair price? A pre-order on eBay is $150 and that's the cheap one.

When I was in Japan in 2015, I got into a discussion with a chogokin store owner and some customers. They said in Japan the robot fans were mostly older men and that the younger crowd was dwindling. What are your thoughts on this? Media seems crucial to keep it alive in the youth. Transformers is one (I've avoided the movies) but doesn't always lead to the wider robot universe. Pacific Rim is another and it's awesome. Anime/Manga is a niche audience in most places. Video Games like Titanfall may create fans. Would love to hear thoughts on what the state of the robot collecting world is.

I said I was only going to get Maz, Great Maz, and Grendizer, however I am now looking at Getter Robo and Black Getter as well. They just have a striking design, unique. For Black Getter it seems like the Sentinal version is best. For Getter Robo, which is preferred, SOC GX-06, GX-52, or SRC Getter? Looking at design, quality/durability, and articulation.
