This is of course none scientific, it is just I raised the question on another thread and people seem to agree with me. I'm hoping that our results will send a message to the mods or board owner with consensus behind the request.
Mods: I really am not trying to tell you how to run your board, however I think the name change may open this area up a bit more in order to make some NON-Sentai chatter flow together with the Sentai stuff. After all the General Genre is Tokusatsu or Special Effects

I think if it says SUPER SENTAI/Tokusatsu it is much better coz these look good together anyway.

Haha, I agree with the sentiment - I always thought it was already understood you might post Toku-related topics in here (although, I'm personally also guilty of posting those non-toy-but-related-to-tokusatsu in the BreakTime section).
Speaking of which, where did the SIC thread disappear to anyway? nobody's posted about the latest rider figures in a while....

I think that's part of the problem, Toku related stuff ends up spread amongst several sections or people just don't bother to post it at all because it doesn't seem to belong anywhere. A title change may help to focus everything in one place.

I did a restart, since the old thread disappeared completely; it's under modern robots, but I could ask a mod to move it here, especially if the section name gets changed. |

I just realized that this will be the first post in this forum in two days. Is RJ mostly SR fans and have a handful of toku fans and not many hyrbids like myself, DMe30 and Gort, who enjoy SR's but at the same time knows how to appreciate the live action toku?

I'm starting to think you're right  I had thought it was the percieved Sentai / Power Ranger bias that prevented people posting about other Tokusatsu stuff here (and lets face it, most pre Power Rangers Sentai ends up posted in the vintage chogokin section anyway) but the lack of response to the idea of a name change seems to suggest there aren't may fans. I still think the change would help focus things though. Don't get me wrong, I enjoy my SR's as well, but it would be nice to have somewhere here to talk Toku. |

are you limited in number of forums allowed? why not create an EXTRA category, and call it Tokusatsu, and allow PR/Sentai to continue?

I think the problem with another forum is that they'll need a mod or some mods to watch over it. Adding a Toku forum may confuse some members or I think just of the sake of good housekeeping it is better to keep it simple. However, as Gort and I have observed, many RJ fans are not really toku fansI think the 8 or 9 folks who have voted are probably the bulk of the toku fans here. Which is unfortunate since it seems a bit narrow minded to keep ones focus on only one of the great Japanese entertainment facets available. I have no doubt in my mind that, had many of our members were more exposed to KR, Ultraman and Sentai, they would be instantly dragged in. Afterall, there is nothing more exciting than real people after all, rather than celluloid. Also, I think most of the sentai interest here is focused more on the Robot combining aspect of sentai, rather than the actual sentai show, plot twists and intrigue. I guess he was right in saying this is called Robot Japan. However, this is somewhat disappointing for I have come to know a few members here and for the most part this feels like home rather than exploring another board in order to fill my pangs for Toku talk. I do, like Gort still agree that if the name of this forum was to change to something more inviting for toku fans, it will eventually invite more toku fans to whet their appetite for toku talk as they become more engulfed in the fascination of toku.

I don't know what exactly "Toku..." means. I know I'm all crazy for the Maz. But I also enjoyed the Goranger live-action classic series; and I equally rank Super Inframan and Jet Jaguarright up top with Mazinger, as my top favorites, although they each differ in some aspects... I luv Gatchaman (G-Force) and the Starblazers series... Ultraman and Guyver kick Major Azz... Fist Of The North Star ROCKS!!! Iria the bounty huntress(from the live-action "Zeiram" movie)--- She is HOT!!! ;D Gologo 13, Hellsing, and Hunter Dare other favorites I like, also. I also dig the Android Kikaider animes... Dynaman is friggin Cool! I'm starting to get curious about the Garo character as well. Armitage and the GAL Force... girls  Sailor Moon... ...have I covered Any Toku' here thus far?  ...Toku?  If it would help to change the name- then, that would help attract more interest and new fans to this genre, if all the Toku stuff were centralized in one place so we could see them all. Btw, I am glad 00slivergt brought this up. I mentioned this a long time ago...more for a Kamen Rider/Medicom section in addition to the Sentai/PR forum that not only included Kamen Riders but all other "live action" type stuff.

I think renaming a forum like this would help people appreciate other things or perhaps, as in most recent events, would help familiarize people with KING JOE. I know sketcher, gort and myself are familiar, but most other folks are like "WHAT THE HELL IS THAT?"
I think changing the name would help inform folks and draw interest into characters/shows/toys that they may or may not have had the chance to research or develop interest otherwise.
