LOL it was a soccerball in the beginning and later on it became some kind of football or rugby ball with stuff stuck on it, right?

Yep. first was the soccerball, then the football...
...as the football got kicked around from ranger to ranger it was transforming with missile fins... when it got to the ranger leader, he kicked it at the enemy "Choo-choo Train" monster (or whatever friggin runaway household appliance they were battling, at the time) it got stuck to the enemy's body and blew him to smithereens.
The Gorangers fought some really weird enemies! Choo-choo Trains, Hammerheads, Gunheads, weird plants, whatever!
I used to watch that series on the spanish tv channel during the summer of '77, in NYC. Next day, kids come outside kickin balls at eachother and smashin sh*t. That was fun! ;D

Nevermind, I asked a Nicaraguan Friend, according to him Putazos is a term used only by Mexicans, meaning "fighters".

Speaking of VR troopers, this must be Saban's greatest work. This guy was able to take 3 characters from 3 different different shows and made it somewhat believable. Wow, not until the likes of Carl Macek has this feat been accomplished.
VR troopers consists of Super Machine Man Metalder, Uchuu Keiji Shaider, Jikuu Senshi Spielban. All from the Metal Heroes genre.
Metalder is what was hoped to be the more modern replacement for Jinzo Ningen Kikaider, which if you look at the armor real close looks like a modern adaptation of Kikaider. This was the Ryan Steele's alternate form.
Shaider is a great show per se, but had to play as a sidekick in the American rendition of melting pot: even for TV shows game Haim was playing. So a great Metal Hero is reduced to play seconf fiddle.
Spielban, I don't know much about this show other than there were two chick metal heroes and a dude. So Saban took one of these to create the Kaitlin Star character, a thick, cute reporter. Wowzers.
Anyway, all things being the same, I think Saban should have stayed with making music. The OSt for M.A.S.K was awesome! LOL

Never seen the show but I've seen the toys around. That'll expain what that Kikaider look-a-like is doing hanging out with Space Sheriff Shaider. It all makes sense now.

Yeah, gort, I wondered as well. Metalder was a new one to me, I did some research and thought it was pretty interesting. All the baddies from the VR troopers show is from Metalder (Kikaida-look-alike)

This is for magengar- As per request. Varidoran Unifive Jumbo on top. Vintage Mattel Varidoran on the bottom with the Mattel Varitank in the background. I am still searching for some minty Japanese Popy versions of these bad boys. The Popy Varidoran has the split nose, while the Popy Varitank has some chrome trim additions. Can't remember all of the subtle differences off hand, but they are different enough that I must have them. ;D I'll take some pics of other stuff for this section of the board.

Great pic Sketcher, I'd never realised the top one was Unifive, I'm guessing that's fairly modern? Looking forward to seeing some of your other stuff Yeah, gort, I wondered as well. Metalder was a new one to me, I did some research and thought it was pretty interesting. All the baddies from the VR troopers show is from Metalder (Kikaida-look-alike) I'm only semi-aware of Metalder from looking around at various Toku sites but it's not something I've looked into. So far my main focus has been Sentai, various giant hero stuff like Ultraman, Mirror Man etc and Godzilla, I've not even got heavily into Kamen Rider yet (but I love my bikes, so it's only a matter of time). There's a wealth of Tokusatsu out there I still want to explore. (I think I've posted more this week than I usually do in a month, all be it partly in an effort to support the cause, but mainly because I'm interested in the discussion and feel I have something to contribute, keep it up guys)

Carlo may need to chime in on this one to verify. But if I remember correctly there were two occasions in which Kamen Rider has taken Giant form. Kamen Rider Vs. Ultraman the movie. Ultraman was able to make Ichigo grow into a giant like him. In Kamen Rider ZO, ZO has the ability to grow into a giant.

Close, it was Kamen Rider J that did some giant-sized fighting, not ZO.

Ah, thanks, I knew it was one of the movies. Hopefully, Kamen Rider never grows to giant-size, ever again! LOL

Sketcher DuuUUUuude! I owe you an intestinal fortitude of Thaaaaaanks! ;D I luv those Varijets; especially that big one in the middle, top shelf. Great collection and display there! zozo-Magengar This is for magengar- As per request. Varidoran Unifive Jumbo on top. Is Unifive still in business? I think I read somewhere that Bandai swallowed them up or that Bandai closed that extension of Bandai. I don't remember. I know the website is down. Varijet, cool. That was before the Sentai's had a robot or two to bring it to the baddies. I kinda like that. Like SPD or Boukenger. They beat on the baddies with the robot(s) when they decide to get cute and enlarge themselves, probably with enzyte, but that only finishes the bad robot off and then they all jump out and dish out the whomp ass in tiny form. Nice.
Same as Kamen Rider. It is so Japanese in Faiz: Paradise Lost, when everyone is speaking Japanese and then enters the Taiwanese (Chinese) actor and he start speaking English, of course everyone understands him and he understands everyone, anyway...I love the whole, "Henshin!" "Henshin. Complete. " "Exceeding Charge" Then comes Kabuto with the "Henshin, Change Beetle!" and " Clock up". Ok wait I got distracted. Same as Kamen rider in that we get hand to hand combat there is nothing better than some up and personal in your face combat!
