There was a G1 game for ps2, but it was only sold in Japan. Apparently, it was pretty bad and didn't sell well. Oh the main issue was in a level you controled a transformer. But your character could not transform in the level. Only when you passed a level... then you were assigned what mode you were to play as. for example level 1... vehicle mode level 2 robot mode Whats the point?? no transformation of any sort.

I know, I'm asking for trouble posting this... but did anybody play Dynasty Warriors Gundam 2? Just wondering how it was for robot fans. I kept seeing the same rerun this weekend of Reviews on the Run and they totally trashed the game. I admit, Gundam games in general aren't that good (most suck) but the first Dynasty Warriors Gundam was actually quite amusing. Can somebody tell me if DWG2 was an upgrade or was it "more of the same" and not worth my time and money?

You could buy a cart, like a Pro Action Replay, that would allow you to play imports. (There are other cartridges beside the PAR that work, but I forgot their name and I'm too lazy to google it right now.)
Plan B would be to rip the game to an ISO file, region-patch it to make it a US game, then either learn to do the swap trick (not that hard to do once you get the timing right) or install a modchip (more or less difficult to find, depending on your console model).

The Japanese Mk III Master Systems didn't have the same pin setup as US Master Systems, so it wont physically fit.

My opinion is: It's a fun, mindless game - although most of the mission will be repetitive and the same for all pilots, but each pilots will have 6 distinct mission for themselves, including another 5 - 10 mission if these pilots have their own "Official Mode". Some stage can be frustrating, but once you've find a way to defeat it, it will be the same for every mobile suits (except for rank 1 suits that are more limited in arsenal, that is). My suggestion is get a rental, and if you enjoy it, then buy it. Personally, I'm recommending it. Edit: I never played the first one so I can't make a comparison. But I have read that giant Mobile Armors are not available on the first one, plus that you can upgrade your pilot level to 50 on this version.

Bubblegum Crash, Tubrogrfx 16.
Its sort of an RPG detective game. Mostly in Japanese so I did not get far. Think of it sort of a 16bit version of Mist, with mecha suits.

Not a robot game per say, but I had to mention the new A Boy And His Blob coming next month for the Wii. Look at 1:09 into the trailer :
Mecha Blob!
I loved the original NES game and this remake is absolutely gorgeous. Makes me wish for a HD port (PC, PS3, Xbox360, whatever).

Theres one game I havent seen anyone mention and thats [glow=red,2,300]Gear Fighter Dendoh [/glow]for PS1.
Its a side scrolling beat em up but at some points in the game it turns into a Tekken type 3D fighting game.
Its really cool. I still play it from time to time.

So, are there any other super-robot videogames for PC? I have a Spanish trial version of the old Mazinger-Z vs Great Mazinger pc game from 1999 by VectorMZ, but it's time-consuming learning all the keyboard controls in Spanish. blah blah blah. That game was fun back in the day, but it's just another boring "scroll" type game, of course. I've also tried some MAME stuff like ROM emulators and such; but they often crash on my computer. Any other emulators I could try for some of these Bandai SRW games on my PC? I'd also like to try modifying them (the 3D objects, such as .X files or .3ds object files) so's I can import, or rather, "splice" my DoGA "Mazinger-Z" 3D models as .X file objects into these games. I used to try that with old flash-type 3D FPS games, with minimal results. I'd also like to try old gamecubes, and flirt around with their rom discs to see what I can tweak in them. I've seen old gamecubes dirt-cheap at thrift shops in my area. ;D Thanks in advance! zozo-Magengar

Tony, there are some emulators that you can use to play SRW games on your PC. Most of these will play games that are considered "classic" (old), therefore do not require a high PC spec requirement.
First, you can use super nintendo emulators liks zsnes or snes9x. The first SRW games are released on this system. If I remember correctly, one of these games (SRW 3) was unofficially translated, and I managed to play it successfully once on my system - however, you will need to search the net because it requires a certain patch.
Secondly, you can also use a Game Boy Advance emulator, I personally use Visual Boy Advance. The only SRW games ever officially translated, the SRW Original Generation 1 and 2 are available and can be played perfectly.
Thirdly, you can use the a PSX emulator - I personally recommend the ePSXe or PCSX for its high compatibility and numerous plug-in options (an old Pentium III machine is all it required to run most games quite smoothly) - to play more modern SRW games released for the Playstation system, although AFAIK, none of these games are ever translated to English. There area also some good mecha games available for this emulator as well, the one that I have already tested is Front Mission 3 - it works really well, except that you have to perform a battle save periodically to keep the game from crashing.
Finally, if you can find it, Zinc emulator emulates CAPCOM 3D Arcade system. One of the best mecha game, Tech Romancer / Choko Senkei Kikaioh is available for this emulator. A similar pc requirement with the PCSX system will be required to play most games smoothly.
Hope this helps, bro, and good hunting!

While browsing the net, I found out that an organization called Aeon Genesis has translated the Super Robot Wars Alpha Gaiden game for the PSX. Being a relatively new SRW game (2001 - if my memory serves me correctly), the game's graphics is still acceptable by today's standards, and it has quite a robot roster that will satisfy any mecha fan. Since the game is made for the PSX system, it doesn't require too much PC Power to run it using an emulator. I've tried it on my system, and it works great, running at 60fps. For those who are interested, here are the links: Patched SRW Alpha Gaiden ISO: snesorama.us/board/showthread.php?t=39554The latest version of ePSXe PSX emulator, complete with bios and graphic, sound and CD-ROM plugins (seems to be in maintenance, otherwise you'll need to source the files from other sites): www.emuasylum.com/index.php?page=emulators&system=Sony%20PlaystationLastly, you will need to download the zlib1.dll and extract it to your ePSXe folder, otherwise the emulator won't run. sourceforge.net/projects/libpng/files/zlib/1.2.3/zlib123-dll.zip/downloadYou will need to run SRW Alpha Gaiden with a 2D compatible graphic plugin like p.e.OP.s plugin, otherwise the game just won't start. If some error message appear when you try to configure the plugins, just ignore it and continue with the configuration process. There will be a blank black screen after boot-up where the PS logo is suppose to show, but it will be gone after about half a minute, and the game will start.
