the only thing with the design of the toy-- the upper chest is too long--as compared to the anime...I wonder why...

right john, hopefully that is only for a prototype design and will be corrected when the final version comes out.

...so to ask again...does DX mean bigger? just like the DX of the old days compared to the ST versions?

Generally DX does mean bigger or at least combining/transforming.
BTW, slighty OT, I opened my CMs Corp Mecha Action Series Genesic Gaogaigar and Gaofighgar with Goldion Hammer today, I was really hoping CMs improved the joints on these, no such luck. They're still as loose as heck and the toys toppled over plenty of times dues to weak joints everywhere. I can't say I'm hopeful about quality of the Mekanda MAS figure.

New images from MR forums Looks like CMs made this guy pretty functional! They also included two sets of vehicles, big and small (Mekanda starts out small and "grows" after combining in the second half of the series). It even disconnects. Hmm.. on second thought it might not be a good thing given Cm's track record for joints and connections. Gold

John, yep, that's how Mekanda started out, the football stadium launches the full robot, the 3 ships combine and plug into Mekanda's backpack. Then later on, after a brutal attack on the football stadium which pretty much trashed the base and Mekanda, the Prof revealed the new base that could fly and made a second version of Mekanda. This version was smaller, and launched as 4 seperate units on top of new Mekanda vehicles (2 jets, 2 land vehicles). The Prof's daughter became the 4th pilot of the team. New Mekanda's parts would be launched from the machines, form up ala Jeeg, and then, simply defying physics, miraculously grow exponentially in size to reach the same height as the original Mekanda bot (they look identical by the way). The vehicles would then ride into the biggie Mekanda (note in one of the scans I posted, the feet slide up to show the docking section for the land vehicles). Personally, I think this is where the show "jumped the shark". Mannix, uhm..I don' think there is a DX version? Just the Mecha Action Series (MAS) PVC figure Mekanda. CollectionDx mentioned that there might be a DX Mekanda due to the presence of bigger ships, but I guess CMs just went with 2 kinds of ships packed in the set (big and small). I sure wish there was a DX though, or at the very least, a diecast 8 inch figure. Time will tell. Gold

Personally, I think this is where the show "jumped the shark". The robot has shark missiles built into his feet for jumping the shark easily and conveniently.

This maybe a stupid question but is it diecast? It looks mostly plastic from the pics. I dig it as a robot though.

i am liking this robot! i hope it is in scale with the SOCs...maybe as tall as Daimos or Voltes V...
if it is as small as the Mazingers-- I think it will be too small :-)

More detailed images of Mekanda. www.toysdaily.com/discuz/viewthread.php?tid=92241Seems like this baby is going under "MAS DX" banner after all. Will stand at approximately 18Cm (7 Inches) and will cost a whooping 12,800 Yen!! For an all PVC figure with zero diecast that's a hefty price tag. Tentatively out in June 2009 I think, but CM's Corp.'s main site has yet to post anything about it. Strange.. Gold
