i was looking at that too but i'm not a big enough fan of the color to get it
maybe after the reviews come out and theres more info about just how much metal it has . Then maybe I'll get it

Not a reissue, no, a brand new toy. The transformation is perfect except for some parts on the head. There may be metal, but it's all internal as pieces of framework if it's there; no big diecast chunks or anything

I think I'll pass. I already have the older chunky version with some diecast already and retractable landing gear.

Boo! I also pre-ordered based on the metallic-finish. I always imagined VF-19-Kai to be the "hot rod" of valkyries because it was privately-owned and customized rather than a military-issued vehicle.
Oh well, this settles things then. I never had the older chunky one either and IIRC, those were also plastic-finish. So if I had a choice in the matter, I guess I'll be happy with owning a newer version.

any idea on metal content? Practically nil. Maybe some joints and swing bars on the inside, but it's essentially all plastic, despite the "Hi-metal" name.

The sculpt on the whole looks good though.
I like the scale/size but the lack of landing gears is a major disappointment.
I might get one nonetheless.

Maybe they're calling it "hi metal" because Basara played metal (okay, I know it was more hard rock... but it was more metal than Jethro Tull). I can only pray that the photos are just a bit misleading because of how high the contrast is (the environment is awefully white) so maybe in person the body is a little more pearlescent than it appears. But I'm still kind of, "what?" The originally announcement talked about some die-cast, some PVC, and som ABS plastics... it couldn't have been ALL wrong could it? I mean... seriously. We've heard of companies like Toynami grossly exaggerating their claims but... Bandai? Really?

Seems to be perfect transformation to me.

I think it's "almost-perfect-transform." I just ran that last link through Babelfish and according to the very crude translation, I gather the following "facts": Seems the die-cast content is mostly in the waist area and in the ankles. There is a "riser" piece involved for the legs (not sure what this meant but it sure sounds like it's not fully perfect-transform; unless... could it mean the poster was talking about a stand?) There is an alternate face part to simulate when the face-plate is opened or closed. Interchangeable hands (or something like that, Babelfish says "wrist unit" so who knows).

There are removable pieces on the leg that flesh it out in robot mode; without them the robot mode has kind of skinny legs in the back just like the Yamato version. That's what the "risers" are referring to.
