It's their basic Tamashii Stage Act 3 base, they market it for use with their Robot Damashii and SH Figuarts figures. www.hlj.com/product/BAN959058They come in a couple of different colors, but it looks like they may be phasing out the old "general use" Act 2 and Act 3 stages for slightly different "humanoid" and "Mechanical use" ones.

Got mine too now just in time (or else I would have had to pick it up on Monday after work). I had two gut reactions when I opened the Amiami carton and took out the toy package for the first time...
1) Lately I've been following the Robotech thread over at Macrossworld forums. And believe you me, I've seen everything Robotech has to offer - I admit to liking it. But also believe me when I say, Harmony Gold has been making a mess out of their property. My reaction to flipping open the box-flap was, "wow, it looks awesome for a 1/100 scale toy. It's so tiny but looks like a miniaturized Yamato 1/48." (My secondary reaction was, "boy am I glad I passed on those PVC-looking Toynami 1/100 scale ones.") In fact, the only thing that could have set my heart a-flutter would have been if this was actually a DYRL-styled Hikaru-colour VF-1A (see my profile pic, if you need a hint - my all-time favourite mecha design, *ahem*).
2)I was pleasantly surprised to find that this was slightly bigger than I expected. I don't know what it is, but I've always imagined the VF-1 to be a rather small craft. And yet, it's kind of the same size as the VF-19 that Bandai gave us earlier this year. Even Yamato reflected this by producing the YF-19 as a 1/60 but making it about the same size of the 1/48 VF-1. Is it just because the VF-19 is simply a slimmer and therefore longer, wider craft that gives me this impression? I expected this 1/100 VF-1 to be absolutely tiny (and to be honest, I was a bit disappointed with the VF-19 because I thought it'd be bigger; so it goes both ways for me).
Edit1: You know, after taking it out of the box and handling it a bit, I really like what Bandai has brought to the table. You'd think by now, nobody would have any new ideas on implementing a VF-1 toy. But I really like the nose-to-swing-bar clip system that keeps the "hips" in place. That's really clever. And I also like the shoulders - it's an elegant solution to the problem of how complicated or simple you want the arms to swing out during transformation. And lastly, maybe my initial reaction was wrong: it is indeed a bit smaller than VF-19. Standing side-by-side in Battroid modes, VF-19 is still a bit beefier and somewhat taller.

I think Yamato oversized the 1/60 YF-19 a little bit, but it's nice to hear that the VF-1 doesn't seem as small as one would think.

Thanks for the heads up, Quinjester, I'll pick a couple of these up so I can put up a Hi-metal dogfight type of display I got mine last week and it's a GREAT little toy, absolutely worth getting for me, the transformation is fun and very intuitive and it totally looks the part in all modes. I was very surprised how such a small toy can do so much and still manage to feel very solid in fighter mode and yet be an insanely well articulated and poseable battroid!

I finally got a Bandai's Stage Act 5 clear stand for a little less than 800yens on Amiami + shipping (actually you get 3 stands in one box) and I put it on display in fighter mode. The arm itself is about as long as Yamato's Macross display stand which puts the valkyrie quite high up in the air

No new news. Bandai just released the VF-1J and VF-19 and is focusing on promoting the VF-1S Strike. The YF-21 will come when it comes. It's a new mold as opposed to a retooling so it'll take more time to design and finalize.
It's also possible that they're holding onto it so they can have a YF-19 ready (they've implied heavily that they're going to make a YF-19) to co-sell with it.

Thanks for the info I had only guessed that the YF-19 was going to be made . perhaps they'll round Macross Plus out with a VF-11 as well.

A look at the Tamashi-webshop-exclusives that came out for the VF-19. There's the "sound-booster" and the stand. I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I seem to have a real tough time getting Fire Valkyrie back into fighter mode... the "shoulders" snap into place but just barely. (click thumbnails to big'em!): The stand-set came with optional landing gear and... FISTS! That's right, the original toy didn't come with fists, only open hands. Also it came with optional shoulders for the broadcast mode. Soundbooster sadly requires more anime-magic... a mount-bracket attaches to the back... And the dorsal antennae needs to come off to reveal the hole that the peg on the bracket will plug into. Does look cool once deployed. Anyway, glad to have this finally out.
