So... what does this mean (that it's a Tamashii Exclusive)? Simply that it'll cost an arm and a leg more than a wide-release like those VF-19 add-ons I bought? Ugh. At over $100USD, I may as well bring be thinking of getting a full sized 1/60 scale VF-1A DRYL hikaru by Yamato. Bleah.

I don't know if Bandai is milking the VF-Hi Metal series or not, but considering how they basically release Max VF-1A as Tamashii web limited and now all the DYRL VF-1A... Is Bandai product planner really that stupid? I know that most original Macross fans are mostly in their 30s now and have bigger disposable income, but to limit key characters of the saga is just mind boggling.
I have Hi-Metal VF-1 Hikaru and VF-19, really amazed at the quality and proportion but just when I decided this will be my main collection line, that dreaded Tamashii limited thingie destroyed my intention. The sound booster for the Fire Valk and US$100 is crazy for a figure that small and I have to buy 3 to complete the line.
I already preordered Roy's VF-1S, would like to cancel but already paid the down payment to my importer, so it would be my last order for the VF Hi-Metal series. I'm literally fed up with Bandai limited release. One off figures are okay, it increases the collection value, but key characters as limited release... My wallet is not lined with gold.

I agree . I want the vf-1a dyrl Hikaru but .... I don't love it that much , plus there are other newer figures to get elsewhere. I've got the vf-1s on its way too. I think I'll be staying away from the exclusives .

just got that model too a few days. It's very good but it hava some details that are stupid for a bandai model, like the stupid landing gear and you can't attach the gunpod in fighter mode. Come on! you are Bandai! you can do it better!

Anybody ordered the tamashii web display stand kit for VF-19kai? I saw a short video review on the youtube about gunpod clip for the Hi-Metal VF-19kai on the display stand kit (the guitar looking base). Just wondering if it's compatible with the gunpod on the VF-19S.
If possible, I want to replicate the gunpod clip using Gundam model kit pla plate for the VF-19S. I literally love the 19S and will buy another if I can just display it with the gunpod attached (but still removable).
I really hate Bandai with their business practice, but gosh... An affordable Valkyrie is an affordable Valkyrie, beggars can't be choosers.

yeah, I'm kind of wonder if Bandai let their license lapse or something... Because for the longest time it's like Yamato wouldn't touch Macross 7 with a 10-foot pole (this was before their recent 1/60 scale toys, of course)... and Bandai was doing just a bit of everything. But now it's as though the licensing rights have been redistrubuted - Bandai is doing transforming toys for Macross Frontier and Yamato is doing every except Frontier... that's disappointing since the 1/100 scale could have had several other designs that would have been relatively easy to engineer - especially with the kinds of short-cuts they took...

I think that Bandai like many Japanese companies is under pressure because of the bad economy, that might explain why their production runs on items like the Macross DX Chogokins, SOC, myth cloth, etc... tends to go sold out a few days (and sometime hours) just after they open. The Hi-metals were mildly successful and old Macross licences, making the old fans (many of us here I guess ) happy. The DX line has a new show and movies coming out and is the best option for Bandai to get a new generation of fans buying their products in the future

yea i guess you guys are right , that its pretty much the end to hi-metal. I only have the vf1-j. this would have been a good line to build a somewhat affordable and small scale squadron
