Sorry for the double post/bump.
Um...wow. That was REALLY good! I mean, good. If you call yourself any kind of fan of Gundam or the U.C. timeline, you need to see this. That's all I'm gonna say.

44USD an episode is a little too heavy on my pockets, guess i'm better off waiting for the complete boxset to be release or try getting those licensed boxsets from malaysia, way cheaper albeit poorer picture quality.

Hmm... March 12 is a Friday... I wonder if Amazon will ship a little ahead of time for pre-orders or if they will actually ship that day. *sigh* Can't believe it's already so soon - getting excited!

This is one show I wasn't going to preview via a download and purposely avoided any spoilers. Can't wait to watch it 1st-time in full HD splendor!

Got my shipping confirmation today. *sigh* despite shipping it "early" I'm betting it'll get tied up in customs for at least a while... then it's the weekend. I won't get it at my door until maybe Monday or Tuesday if I'm really lucky that it clears customs right away.

I think there are going to be 6 episodes or OVAs if you like. The thing is(as someone else mentioned in this topic)44USD per episode is too much even for a blu-ray disk.Gonna wait for the boxset too...

Mine finally arrived in the mail today. The watching Gundam in hi-def is definitely a new experience - it's absolutely gorgeous. As for the story, this ep is a lot of set up. Still not sure who I'm supposed to be cheering for. Seems like our main character acquires his titular Gundam from an independent faction new to continuity so there's a bit of retcon going on to our once-familiar UC timeline. In the aftermath of the Fed-Zeon war it looks like the EFSF have become a little heavy-handed again. Still not sure who these "Sleeves" are and the "Princess" (who's name we don't know)... what's her story? Lots of questions, lots of looking forward to the next ep!!!

If you have watched the One Year War, you'll know who this princess is. Oh boy... it's been ...well, many years to say the least. Now you've got me curious. I'll need to do some digging around. In fact there were a few times the camera panned and zoomed in several places where I sat up and thought, "wait, should I know what the significance of this is?" But the hardest part (and freely admit this) is that I think I'll rewatch it dubbed. Gundam is one of those franchises that is heavy on talking during the action scenes and I feel like I missed a lot of the visual eye-candy while trying to follow the intricately detailed dialogues...

I also tried dubbed as my second watch, and the dub is surprisingly not so bad. Banagher sounds too old and Audrey is not that outstanding. But the rest of the cast are decently well done. Sub would still be my preference, but I hear ya, you can miss some info busy reading all the text.
In terms of Audrey (the princess), she appeared in the One Year War. Based on her current age, you should be able to make a pretty good guess who she is back then.

Er... I know this is like a week later but I need to ask since I know there are a number of Canadians on RJ. Is anybody else having problems connecting to BD-Live on the Unicorn BD? I'm wondering if it's because there simply isn't any content for us North Americans, or we're being left out because we imported the disc from the US to Canada... I know content was supposed to be updated yesterday with a new menu skin and some clips from the Japanese debut, etc. But I keep getting a connection error message from my PS3.
(Yes, my PS3 is on-line and BD-Live is indeed working - I tested with a couple of other BDs I have).

I finally watched the episode. It was SUPERB. It's exactly what a Gundam show should be. It's been awhile since I've seen high animation quality. Gundam UC did not disappoint. The blu-ray disc was worth every penny.

Unfortunately they did not, but im still liking the fact that we get to enjoy this series the same time Japan does without having to wait a year or 2. That booklet would have been sweet though.

vifam7: thanks. I guess it's a regional thing. Which sucks because that means Canadians got the equivalent of a bare-bones disc since there AREN'T any bonus features on the disc at all... but we paid the same price as you guys (and more since we can't get the free-shipping deal from Amazon). But I agree - I'm happy that we get to enjoy the latest Gundam adventure right away. Compare with the other major anime BD release I picked up these last couple of months: Rebuild of Evangelion 1.11, which I waited 2 years for. I mean ...seriously... *sigh*

Just FYI for all. Gundam Unicorn is up on PSN for rent in HD or SD. Dubbed only I believe. Might be cool for those who simply can't take subs or just want to see this in 'semi-HD'. I still need to pick up that nice BD at some point.
Anyways, just a heads up!

Animenewsnetwork.com has posted an updated trailer showing off some of the new footage (too bad almost half of the 2-minute video is a recap of volume 1). www.animenewsnetwork.com/video/7946/Looks like we can consider this official notice: November can't come soon enough!!
