So, just finished watching Unicorn episode 2. It was another fantastic piece of animation. They really seemed to push the story this time. Sunrise really added some polish to this series.
I think the second BD release is out in Japan this week. No word on any domestic release via Amazon or anything. But, the BD will have multi-language subs.
Echo from previous post: I still need to pick up the first BD at some point.
Anyways, go check it out now (via the web) or pick up on BD this week from Japan.

I thought I mentioned this on the general anime thread in the break forum but I guess I forgot... but yeah, Amazon didn't seem to get exclusive distribution for Region A this time for episode 2. In fact, they're not even accepting pre-orders (I signed up for notification but still no news). As a matter of fact, Bandai's official store at store.bandai-ent.com/ is accepting pre-orders and the official release date is this Friday (November 12). I already ordered mine and can't wait. Well actually, I can wait, because if I really couldn't, I would have bought a PSN soft-copy.

They've got them for a pretty good price too! And you prolly did post about it in the break forums, but I forget sometimes that we have a dedicated anime thread. So...that's my fault for not checking! LOL! EDIT: Holy crap....Just checked PSN now and 2nd episode is up for rent! Awesome!! Man, I'm an idiot. *Goes to rent right now!* I wish you could buy them on PSN, but I will prolly go ahead and purchase these from the Bandai store .

Loved it! It arrived in the mail today (meaning they must have shipped out at least a week ago). Pacing was a little odd - doesn't really break-down into an episode very well since there were 2 action scenes spanning the first half and then ...well, there's a lot of talking from that point on until the end. I don't mind, because you have to go through all that to tell the story overall. But you're acutely aware that this is just one episode of something much much bigger than this hour you're occupied with, so you just have to deal with it.
Thankfully, this time the BD-Live features do work (I downloaded the teaser for episode 3 and it's announced for March 5, 2011!). As an aside, I put in the first BD one more time tonight and no, it still won't load the BD-Live menu on that one). And also thankfully, even if the BD-Live didn't work, then at least Volume 2 ships with some bonus content such as a "The Story So Far" recapping the events of the first episode, which is more important than you'd think because they actually explain some stuff in narration that's kind of glossed over in actual first episode and you'd be confused if not for the Internet and Wikipedia. Anyway, it seems less like a bare-bones disc if there are at least a few trailers and clips on the disc.
Speaking of which, now I have to look up who that pilot is - the blonde guy who saved our kids. Princess Mineva seemed to recognize his name... and he's still carrying that good luck charm around (the one I noticed a conspicuous close-up of in the first ep).
Edit1: You had to pay close attention to the very first scene in the previous episode ...something about the prime-minister's speech links to that very pilot we meet.

Thanks for the tip on the Bandai Store. I was wondering where I would find the Vol.2 since Amazon doesn't carry it. And to my surprise, they have a Gurren Lagann Movie 2 pack on a discount too. Good timing!

Oops - forgot about this thread. I posted the trailer links from AnimeNewsNetwork.com to the Anime thread on the Break board last night. Didn't know about the 8-minute preview, though. Thanks!
I'm going to wait for the physical release. I hasn't been as long as I thought it would be (it's been barely 4 months since episode 2 came out). So even when April rolls around it'll still be only 5 months for me.

I do hope they end at 6, as good as the show is. Otherwise the Blu-Rays are going to be too costly.

Man, I swear I'm close to watching episode 3 raw. I've been waiting for the US Playstation Network store to update with this episode to no avail. Not sure what's taking them so long. XBL and Zune have the dubs up. Japan PSN has had there's up since about Friday night Japan Standard Time. What's going on??
OK rant over. Thanks for allowing me to vent a bit.
Yeah, as I understand the official word (if ANN can be considered official) is that the OVAs are in fact planned for 6 episodes. So we should be on the back side of the story by this time next year.
Anyways I guess I'll look forward to this a while longer. I understand it's really a good episode.

Small bump.... Per the official web page PSN is having some problems with their copy of the show. Hopefully will be up soon. www.gundam-unicorn.net/en/Gundam UC episode 3 streaming on PSN was supposed to be started from 3/5, but due to technical issues, the service has been delayed. Updates status infor will be posted on this page.Glad they took some initiative and let everyone know this.....

Replied in that thread, Ben. What a mess, man. So, what crappened with Amazon again? Did they just loose the rights or something to the rest of the series? Honestly. Seems like NA/Canada both are getting the shaft one way or another be it digital distro or physical copies. Admittedly, I watched a LQ RAW version of the show...you know this thing still had the nerve to be f'n awesome? Can't wait to see this subbed or even dubbed.

Awesome. Bright Noa! Possible Battle at Port Dakar! Wow, the wait for episode 4 is going to be nuts. Looking forward to this!
EDIT: I wonder how they'll handle Bright's seiyuu casting, as Hirotaka Suzuoki has since passed away.

Heh - that's funny. Bright Noa's kind of like a cross between his original design and his later design (from Char's Counter Attack)... I wonder how he got his hair back to that poofy mod 70's look.

so has anyone else watch the 4th episode yet? I just finished watching it. Really good episode. Can't wait for the next one, don't want to spoil anything but a very interesting Gundam appears at the end of episode 4.
