Very cool, but I wish he had done it more with a normal Mazinger sculpt instead. }D Yeah, but then he wouldn't be able to sell it. He still can't sell this one because of the character likeness (copyright, and licensing issues), and this custom urban vinyl rendition resembles Maz almost 80%. I'd probably keep the head and the Scrander. zozo-mag

I have had the KT Prime busts for a while and I have wanted to make a body for it to go with for a long time. I had looked at plenty of Prime toys and none of the proportions match. So now that I can print parts I started working on my own body. I was going to try and do it for TFCON, but I do not think I would have time. Its this weekend. I started with my own body design, but I was not keen on the proportions and lack of articulation. I dug through my donor toy bin and found something that was the right height. Also after seeing the Unimetal Prime it gave me ideas for exposed parts if I was to take off the armor I am making. Now I am making components for the limbs to make it more like Prime, as well as ways to mount the arms etc.. I'll share more as I make progress.

Here is my first attempt to make an action figure using my 3D printer. I chose Grengus C3 because it is a simple design, but also has a skirt that must be articulated. So simple and challenging at the same time. Here's what I got so far... in "negative mode" so it looks cooler! More to come soon... I hope! }D

Man, for not knowing much about 3D modeling you're surely going Ballz To The Wall with 3D printing! That Grengus body looks so perfectly wicked nice! zozo-mag

Those negatives make it almost look like its made of wood.

Yeah, I'm not good with this 3D modeling stuff, and the Davinci slicing software is not very good. Pity... But anyway, closer to completion... }D

Crap! Now I gotta chose between which forearm style to use... }D

It's looking really good! What's wrong with those forearms there? His forearms appeared kinda long in the Maz episode, to hide the chains inside when he's not shooting his balls.

They are different style. One on its right arm is more curved, and the one on the left is wider at the end. I may just print the curved one a bit bigger, and go with it. But I do like the other one as well...

I think the wider-end forearm would look nice, as it adds a visually dynamic touch to the wrecking balls. Your Grengus looks like a rough texture now... are you gonna smooth it up once it's completely printed out? zozo-mag

Yeah, I like the wider one too. We'll see. I still have to give it an acetone vapor bath. That should smooth the surfaces quite a bit. }D

Be careful with that Acetone Vapor Bath, have good ventilation and wear a respirator.

Sure thing with the AVB! So, I went with the rounded forearms, and refined the waist a bit as well... }D

It's looking really good already! I love how you made the kilt, and I won't guess how you managed to make each kilt plate flexible. Someday, if I ever build a custom Grengus-C3 for my Maz figures, I'll come up with my own flexible kilt design. Hey, genius use of that miniature key-chain there, too! And that lobster kikaiju Rocks! It reminds me of one of them Gatchaman (1st season series) enemy robot spaceships. zozo-mag

LOL! I still need to tweak some things, sand some parts, and of course, make the Heat Blade for the head (molded out of resin - since I tried 3D printing one and it looks like ass). Then, I wanna paint it before I post real pics of it. }D
