The Makerbot printer ROCKS! Too bad it can only print PLA (for the moment at least). On a sad note, This morning I noticed that the glass on the heated bed of the Davinci printer was cracked! It just cracked on its own too! I wasn't even printing anything when I noticed it was cracked. Fortunately, it really doesn't affect anything (yet). }D

Can you get a replacement glass heat bed for that machine? Yeah, high heat will cause glass to crack. That's why you should NEVER place bottles into a camp-fire, they'll crack and burst all over the place like shrapnel... ...that would be SoOo uncomfortable for anyone sitting by the fire I'd like to start getting into this 3D-print stuff if I had the patience and time for it. Sooner or later I'll dive right in. My local library will soon have a 3D-print lab opened next month; I just haven't been out to see it yet, with my new work schedule. I've started working two part-time jobs; my second part-time gig started on Thursday of last week... ...and now I'm averaging 10-hour workdays 5 and 6 days per week with just one full day off from work... so of course, at my old age I just wanna spend that off day at home relaxing and sleeping in. lol I'm also about to move into my new place this coming weekend. So much has happened for me in such a short time, and I'm so tired I don't even wanna hold a conversation. My free time is very limited now, that's why I'm not on here as much... ...But IDGAF, I have to do this and keep movin forward. And the Haters can ____ __ ____ ... ( I just had to get that last bit off my chest. lmao XD) zozo-mag

Good to hear that you got a new place already! Moving by bus must suck thou! I spent three years without a car when I was in California, and it sucked to do groceries, and everything else, via public transportation. But at least you got a place! As far as the glass on the Davinci, well, I use Painters Tape anyway, so I was thinking about just securing a piece of thin sheet metal or copper on top of the glass, and just cover it with painters tape. It should work fine, I guess. }D

I know that feeling, I've been through it when I lived in L.A. during the early '90s and doing everything by bus, or bicycle, or on foot. The sheet metal should work fine. A flat large stainless-steel cookie sheet tray might also help. zozo-mag

That new printer is sweet but I'm hoping it will be affordable.

Provided it allows for at least the same result as current 3D printers, in the long run it outta at least make 3D printing service sites cheaper, mostly due to how fast things will get done.
One thing is certain, it looks hella cool to see the object rising from the goop. XD

The legacy from custom painters, car and props painters now applied to 3d printing / painting :

Hi, Everyone. This is my first post, so I hope this is an appropriate thread. I don't do 3D printing but this is a 3D printed prototype for my next vinyl robot, Cronus Magnus. I have a Kickstarter going right now to get it funded. If you are a vintage jumbo or Shogun Warriors fan, you may want to check it out. Thanks! I look forward to getting familiar with this forum! Kickstarter is HERE.

Hey everyone, Ken's stuff is legit! His Voltes fists are better than the originals and as shown above, he printed a whole DX Voltes V. If you need Voltes parts or other items, hit Ken up. Keep up the good work my friend.

Playing with 3D printing to accessorize and modify my Glico Timeslip Tetsujin 28's. First prototype of the giant bomb.

hate to necro a thread, but I'm hoping this 3D printing craze didn't die out. especially with the progress on that Mechanical Monster and the Giant Bomb for the Tetsujin 28.
some point I'm gonna have to save up some money to commission someone for a fleet of Get-Machines to pair up with my Minipla Getter series.
