HEY THERE ROBOT JAPAN, GREAT MAZINGA FAN'S, I'M GOING TO BUILD DR.HELL'S FLYING FORTRESS " MIKELOS" I THINK IT WAS FROM GREAT MAZINGA, AND IT'S THE ONE THAT LOOKS LIKE A FLYING SAUCER... I'M GOING TO TRY AND SHOW ALL THE PROGRESS, IF ANYONE IS INTERESTED IN ONE, PLEASE LET ME KNOW AS SOON AS YOU CAN, SO I CAN CUT THE EXTRA PARTS AS I'M BUILDING IT. i CAN ALSO BUILD FLYING FORTRESS GOOL...AND THE SUBMARINE FORTRESS SALUDE..OR BOOD... OR IF A SUPER ROBOTS BASE IS WHAT YOU LIKE PLEASE ASK FOR QUOTES... i CAN EVEN CUT THE PARTS, IF YOU WOULD LIKE TO BUILD THEM YOURSELF..... THANK YOU ALL FOR READING MY THREADS, AND GOD BLESS HERE IS THE VERY START..IT MAY NOT LOOK LIKE MUCH, BUT WE ALL HAVE TO START SOMEWHERE !!!

THAT WILL BE THE TOP AND BOTTOM OF THE FLYING FORTRESS, IT'S ALMOST 30" WIDE SO IT MAY NEED TO BE SHIPPED IN SECTIONS...USPS HAS A 108" LIMIT, IN GIRTH PLUS WIDTH...i REALLY HAD A HARD TIME SHIPPING THE PHOTON LAB, I JUST BUILT...AND DON'T WISH TO HAVE THE SAME PROBLEMS !!!!!! I WISH I HAD A V-FORM MACHINE, SO I COULD MAKE THESE PARTS IN PLASTIC, NOT WOOD. EVEN THOUGH THIS WILL BE MADE OF WOOD, IT WILL BE LIGHT ENOUGH TO HANG FROM THE CEILING....THE PHOTON LAB WAS MADE OF THE SAME WOOD, AND ONLY WEIGHED 13 LBS. SO I'M GUESSING THIS WILL BE ABOUT THE SAME !!!!

Already looks great! Have you considered using "Foam Board" instead of wood? Of course, it will not be as strong, but it should be easier to work with and cheaper too. I like the idea of getting it disassembled and putting it back together myself. It would be like putting together an awesome model kit. ;D

I THOUGHT ABOUT FOAM, AND STILL MIGHT TRY IT....BUT I'M USE TO WORKING WITH WOOD, AND WOULD HATE TO RUIN A PILE OF FOAM......WHICH IS PRETTY STEEP IN THE CASH DEPT....PLUS I HAVE TO ORDER IT, AND PAY FOR INFLATED SHIPPING COST

I THOUGHT 30" WOULD BE CLOSE TO SCALE , MOST OF THE DIECAST MAZINGER Z SHOULD BE 6 1/2 TALL OR SO....I SEEN PICTURES OF ONE THAT WAS MADE BY POPY, AND IN THE WINDOWS, YOU COULD SEE ROBOTS ? SO IT MUST HAVE BEEN HUGE IN THE ANIME ? LET ME SEE IF I CAN FIND THOSE PIX !!!!

BORICUA...I DIDNT KNOW THATS WHAT TYPE OF FOAM BOARD THEY MEANT , BUT STILL, I'M NOT SURE HOW I WOULD ATTACH IT ALL TOGETHER ? AND HOW DO YOU FINISH THE EDGES ? WHAT TYPE OF GLUE WORKS BEST TO HOLD THAT FOAM BOARD TOGETHER ? WHEN I THINK OF FOAM BOARD, I THINK OF BLUE BOARD, THAT THEY SELL AT HOME DEPOT, THATS THE TYPE OF FOAM I WORKED WITH ALOT....BUT THAT WAS WORKING ON HOUSES. THAT BLUE BOARD IS GOOD FOR SOME CRAFT PROJECTS, IT CAN BE CUT AND SCULPTED WITH A HOT KNIFE, BUT SOME PAINTS WILL MELT IT, AND I GUESS SOME GLUES WILL ALSO.....I WAS GOING TO BUILD THE SUBMARINE FORTRESS, THAT HAS AN ISLAND ON TOP , AND USE THAT FOAM FOR THE ISLAND... ?? BUT THAT WILL BE A LATER THREAD....THANK YOU ALL FOR READING, AND PLEASE KEEP THROWING THE HELPFUL COMMENTS AND IDEA'S.......

15 pounds? I think that might be on the heavy side to hang from like a bedroom ceiling. I picture it like hanging a bowling ball from the ceiling. Well, at least my ceiling wouldn't be strong enough - unless I find a wood beam right behind the sheetrock to screw the hook in! ;D

THATS ALWAYS THE BEST WAY TO HANG ANYTHING FROM YOUR CEILING, IF YOU NEED TO HAND WHERE THERE IS NO STUD/RAFTER..THEN THEY MAKE A HOOK, THAT OPENS FLAT, BEHIND THE DRYWALL, IT'S SPRING LOADED AND EASY TO USE. THERE IS ALSO A LARGE SCREW, THAT DRILLS AND THREADS ITSELF INTO THE DRYWALL, AND STOPS WHEN ITS FLUSH, THEN HAS A SMALLER HOLE IN THE MIDDLE TO ATTACH A SCREW OR HOOK TO. I'LL TRY TO GET SOME PICTURES WHEN I'M OUT TO SHOW YOU, MY WIFE HANGS A GIANT FLOWER POT, FROM A HOOK I PUT IN MY CEILING....AND IT'SNOT PULLED OUT YET....AND IT HAS TO WEIGH 30 LBS..THE PLANT HUNG OUT OF THE POT, AND WAS TOUCHING THE GROUND !!!!! UNTIL THE CAT DECIDED TO PLAY WITH IT ...LOL.. BUT I THINK 15 LBS WILL BE NO PROBLEM TO HANG......IF SOMEONE WANTS TO BUY THIS FORTRESS, I'LL THROW IN THE PROPER SCREW HOOKS NEEDED !!!!!!!

Thank you, I started building a v-forming machine, but then got distracted building a Photon Lab......LOL...and lack of money for some parts.... But I do plan on getting it finished by spring. My close friend needs room in his basement, so he asked me to hold on to some of his tools, so now I just got a bandsaw, and benchtop, belt sander.......So that will help save me time on projects.....other than those 2 items, I have about 10,000.00in tools, I've collected over the years.I would sell them for money, I really need now, but ..they make me money, so thats out of the question !!!!

Any suggestions on how to build the top part of this fortress ? It's a odd sellection of tubes and rings.. I wish I had a lathe...then I could copy it, to the T....
