Man. I noticed on the official Voltron facebook page that this release is getting HAMMERED. Anyone else see that?

Good they need a hammering, and an SOC release.

I don't think the target demographic is necessarily people who already own some previous release of the Toynami mold.

I'm pretty sure the target demo is obsession Voltron collectors who buy anything and everything Voltron.

I just saw the description for this on BBTS ( www.bigbadtoystore.com/bbts/product.aspx?product=TOY10608&mode=retail) and it says: "We’re pleased and excited to once more feature Voltron in our family of licenses, and what better way to kick off this new chapter than with the 30th Edition Voltron! Standing at 11 inches tall (nearly 13 inches with its display base), the 30th Anniversary edition will feature LED light-up Voltron face eyes (powered by replaceable batteries) and sturdy die-cast and ABS construction, and will include a very special signature Voltron badge. This badge, when properly transformed, will become a key that can be used to activate light and sound features on the display base, including the legendary "lion's roar." The 30th separates into the individual lions, will also come with the lion's-mouth blade accessory, and will come packaged in a classic retro-styled anniversary box. This mold has been updated with joint work to support the die-cast content, and also has a newly-modified Black Lion head to allow for the LED lighting of Voltron's eyes. With these updates to the original 20th Anniversary die-cast version as well as the stand and lion weapons, this figure is better than ever! Product Number: TOY10608 Shipping Weight: 7.00 pounds" (emphasis mine) I don't have any of the Toynami molds, but wasn't that one of the big complaints with the die-cast version?

Yes, it was. But if you don't have the Toynami, this is not a bad figure. It has a crazy price tag, but it might be worth it at the end. }D

Sunuva... Now I may keep the preorder. I have all the other toynami releases... Might as well have this one. Light up eyes for a voltron is kind of awesome, and the ability to do more poses with better joints is a huge plus. Right now my diecast 25th anniversary version is in lion mode.

Better joints eh? Nice. That makes it more tempting. Still. Not sure I am keen on the light up eyes gimmick anymore. I took my batteries out of everything that does light up. T28. DX Maz.
Am I being too safe?

No, you're not being too safe at all. Anytime you'd like to have fun with the Light/Sound effects features in your figures just pop the bats back in and have a blast! What fun is this hobby if our robots are just gonna stand there on our shelves doing Nothing! zozo-mag Better joints eh? Nice. That makes it more tempting. Still. I thought I was starting to see that a few weeks back. Probably a bunch of hardcore GoLion fans at work kickin WEP's butt. Can't blame the fans, I should be doing the same thing as well! lol zozo-mag Man. I noticed on the official Voltron facebook page that this release is getting HAMMERED. Anyone else see that?

New joints is good, but what I really would like is a reworked sculpt. Even if it breaks from "anime accuracy" I want something slightly more bulky, especially in the thigh/leg area. For my money that's what I would want.

That shouldn't be a problem, since that Lion Voltron is not anime accurate. It is more Popy/Godaikin 1980's toy accurate.
Yeah, it needs to be bulked up. Way too thin as is.

For my money that's what I would want. With that price tag i would expected a new mold entirely with better proportions, those little touch up like the new head sculpt for the light feature and new stronger connection i don't think it justifies the price-tag. however i would say is nice there giving him stronger connections since the original figure was scary to hold in your hands, I mean seriously i felt those legs would just disconnect.

I never realized that there were the blades for the individual lions that are embedded on the sides of the base. Did the previous releases of this figure have those blade accessories?

Sadly no, the original one never came with any accessories for the individual lions except for Voltron with his standard Sword and Shield. However originally when the MP Voltron was announce for the first time, it was shown in display on that base that they are promoting and the lions having there blades accessories. Never understood why they took that out from the beginning. they also even promote it once as a separate piece to buy it for the MP Voltron and at the end of everything it went silent.

Making a couple of those bases for both my Voltrons That would be cool. Could you make the weapons and key also? You should make a bunch, I'm sure people would be interested. - I would be. You should scale up the key and make them. I think people would be into that. I'm thinking they will eventually release the stand by itself. They'll wait till they sell the 30th, but they won't be able to help themselves knowing there are a lot of 20/25 anniversary out there. This may piss off the people who get this release thinking the stand is exclusive. (Like they pissed of the people who brought the numbered 20th thinking it was They orig planned to sell this stand separately when the 20th anniversary, BBTS had it listed for a while (listed as coming soon or something) I'm also wondering if we're going to RE see the vinyls that toyanmi made..?

I think this base is cool to display a vintage Lion Voltron. Shame they won't sell it separately as originally planned.
