According to George of Toynami, it will not be done in the same process as the original jumbo was done. Its more of how the original was done. I was drooling when he was talking about it so I cant say with 100% that its polyethelene. No pricing or release date yet, but details may need to be softened up on production piece since this is a printed prototype with sharp edges. I am expecting it will be cheaper. BTW, if Toynami can sell 1000 of these, Vehicle Voltron will be next. Both will be branded Voltron. CDX Toynami writeup should be up soon with more info I'm sooooo on board for that JMV. Put up the preorders asap and put me down for one. And I don't know if I drool easily over primer gray robot prototype samples or what, but that thing looks sweet. After seeing what Toynami usually puts out, it doesn't look like one of their products and really stands out. I really hope they try to keep the style and flavor just like the vintage Jumbo Machinders. No modern metallic flake paint jobs. Molded color polyetheline limbs/pieces would be awesome versus painted parts, except for the vinyl painted head. I'm hopeful for a hollow polyetheline construction. Keep the neutral straight up posture, arms to the side stance; no arms slightly sticking out to the sides and elbows bent like the Toynami Shogun Warrior version. Have stickers instead of tampographed decals just like the vintage toys. Make it as close to feeling like this toy was made in 1978 as possible. When you look at that thing, there is mistaking that is "the Mighty Voltron"; however, when you look at the MP Voltron, there is no mistaking that Voltron is anorexic and rode a mechanical bull a bit too many times. Also, I find it hard to believe that the Toynami Shogun Warriors Voltrons were limited and only 500 were produced. If so, why is it still relatively easy to find them and so many places still carry them?

Ive always wondered the same thing about why the jumbos are available still. Im sure it wasnt about making money but more about making a huge Voltron while they had the license. It was almost a hard sell for me when it first came out pricewise. Only hardcore fans would buy that. Casual fans might pass, even at clearance due to size. Hard to say. Maybe there is an official 500 and there are non numbered out the back door type ones? Doubt it, seems more like they didnt sell all to well. Vintage jumbo fans didnt want it, too much for casual fans etc etc. Hopefully with the new one, jumbo fans will be able to get in on the action.

Those toyanami jumbos are crazy, really dose seem like you can find 500 for sale, and most for about msrp from when they were released.
The sculpt if the new jumbo one is awesome, but as mentioned why legs on black lion? Ill assume like the weels the vintige jumbos had them..?
I wish they updated the sculpt of the 30yh anniversary MP! It was tough to hear on CDX channel that Bandi was and is ready to make a soc golion. Hopefully toyanami will take a stab at a new mold soon.

Well everything rests on the success of current Voltron items before new things can be made. Toynami will continue making Voltron products if current offerings do well. I wouldnt mind seeing more of what Toynami can do while they have the license. Ive been to Georges office during toy fair with Josh and be seems genuinely passionate about Voltron. I feel comfortable knowing the license is in his hands even though I want a SOC but it is what it is. Hope Toynami makes the most of it. That would be so awesome if they can do a Jumbo Machinder Vehicle Voltron and Albegas right after this Lion Voltron.

I hope sales on this Masterpiece Toynami Voltron tank so that WEP will finally get a clue that we're all waiting for a SOC version.

I think making a Jumbo Voltron is great but on the otherhand it's also a limited market. I just hope they don't think that all NA fans collect Jumbos and want new Jumbos. As is I still think Toynami is a company that needs better direction but I will say I really like this design like I was saying. It so has a 70's feel to it. I hope they make it in a smaller SOC type figure.

What is this RA from? I don't remember seeing him before It's a original design from Toynami, which I think is the way they should go. It's pretty obvious that any existing creations they tend to not get "right".

After seeing this Ra figure, I wouldn't be surprised if they were to do a Giant Robo 1967 version shogun warrior. zozo-mag

I'm all for a original design, but I'm not into that ra design at all. Did I hear it transformed? If so into what, a pyramid?

This is getting off topic and unrelated to MP Voltron. As cool as that Ra figure is, maybe a new topic about the Ra figure should be its on separate thread.

If this figure is indeed due for release next month, Toynami is sure as heck tight lipped about anything. Aside from the NYTF 2014 coverage on their Facebook page, no other main updates have been made especially on their website. Maybe April is no longer the projected date of release?
