I like the Paramus-Mall figure oops I mean Pyramis-Ra ,,{Paramus Mall is in NJ}but they have it backward, the goatee should act as long stairay in giant head statue mode, and a short goatee in robot mode. Not vice-versa!

I think making a Jumbo Voltron is great but on the otherhand it's also a limited market. I just hope they don't think that all NA fans collect Jumbos and want new Jumbos. As is I still think Toynami is a company that needs better direction but I will say I really like this design like I was saying. It so has a 70's feel to it. I hope they make it in a smaller SOC type figure. they are actually, there is a small prototype off to the right of the jumbo of a transformable pyramidas ra which will be diecast. Edit: just realized this is the photo of the prototype of the transformable SOC type fig... the jumbo version was only shown in grey

So it's April now and not a word from Toynami. Is this 30th MP Voltron just going to appear suddenly on retailers' websites this month without any formal build up or announcements from Toynami?

Maybang Collectibles selling on Amazon has a release date of April 16, 2014 for this. Interesting to see if that will be accurate or not.

I'm also a sucker for Egyptian too and I'm totally into this. Very fun and original. The details in the expression are terrific. Just hope they actually go through with it. Seems like you can't depend on prototypes being actual releases anymore.

If anyone wants the older plastic version of the MP Voltron with the metallic paint, I'm selling mine.

I saw one of the 30th-anniversary Toynami offerings at the World Events Productions booth at last weekend's St. Louis Wizard World Comic Con. It looks very nice, although for the robot itself, I'm satisfied with my all-plastic, non-metallic/chrome version. The base has a neat gimmick. When you insert the (transforming!) key, the appropriate sound effects play, and the star in the base actually lights up just like in the TV show -- each point comes on, and then the center comes on. Very cool -- but in and of itself, not cool enough for $250 or so.
I like Voltron toys, not display pieces that happen to transform. The all-plastic one fits the bill for me.

Yeah, to me at first it feels that the $250 price tag is a little too much. But all I have to do is think of those overpriced Evolution Toys Dynamite Action ball jointed robots that sell for the same price range and are mostly plastic and barely 7" tall, then this Toynami 30th Voltron set for $250 isn't so bad after all. It would've been more realistic to have this Voltron priced at around the $150-170 range, but I'd also like to see those ET Dynamite Action robots priced at like $60-70 but that ain't happening.

And yet the Evolution Toy robots have better proportioned sculptures than this recycled and tired Toynami sculpt. Heck, even Miracle Production for lacking that "Toynami touch" managed to release a better looking Voltron.

Looks like they are at it again under a new name.
