Well, they've pumped the hell out of that mold. MPC was "limited" to 15,000 pcs. which is A lot for a collectible figure. Next they put out the matte figure which was only $50, and then they made the 25th anniversary edition, and now the 30th... that's a lot of Voltrons. Sort of reminds me of the Aoshima Mazinkaiser mold.

Dave did say that somebody else besides Toynami has the rights too, so maybe Bandai is doing a DX version?

Oh you gotta be kidding me. Toynami got the rights back to Voltron and instead of doing a brand new mold or at least some re-tweaks their reissuing an 8 year old toy? MP voltron was/is a good for its time but the figure hasn't aged well.

Took the liberty to UPDATE this Voltron bigger wings and waist looks better already hint hint. Has anyone noticed the difference just the waist and wing improvements would make on this robot?? And it wouldnt cost all that much to remold wings and bulk the waist up as Ive done here in this photo.

FYI for those who are unaware the very first diecast version had major QC issues. The later plastic and metallic painted recolors are much better to purchase if you decide to get one. Not sure on what the new one will be made from though.

I've got the first Diecast release and I'm not aware of any major QC issues.

My diecast version is great. Only little issues are the black lion tail won't stay folded up in Voltron mode and the red lion's neck joint is a little loose and can't stay up with the sword in hand.

Sorry I wasn't trying to point out any "major issues" but some people had trouble with floppy limbs, legs actually breaking, other parts not holding up well. Some were limited to certain lions, others were a mixed bag. It hasn't been talked about in a long time but many of the original purchasers of the die cast complained about it. Some were lucky enough to have replacements done by toynami even if limited to one or two figures from what I understand, but that was a long time ago. So between original buyers and some buyers years later it was talked about regularly. General consensus was that the plastic versions were better for spending your money, especially since the diecast version was still selling for a premium at the time. Again, not trying to bag the toy, just offering help.

I agree that the plastic is better. I have one of each right now, with the original plastic version on the way soon as I pay it off. The plastic is the better for posing but the diecast looks a little cooler. I like to have plastic in Voltron mode and diecast broken up into individual lions.
If this new release happens with that stand it's gonna look great in the display case, with three Voltron's flanked by 5 lions.

Never heard of any major QC issues. Only thing I have seen happen regularly is the Voltron legs (Black Lion legs) the chrome starts to peal. But that has been after sometime in a combined position. I agree with the sword holding, etc. Yet, still stands as one of my favorite toys.

I didn't have any actual QC problems, but it is sort of wonky with the legs being so heavy.

Not a very esthetically pleasing sculpt. Shouldn't the hand lions be the same size as the feet lions? They are way smaller. Also the wings look too thin IMO

I have 2 voltrons. One from the first batch and the other from the second. The first one has a crack on one of the release buttons on the blue lion plus it wouldn't lock into the black lion without giving it a really strong push which was a known issue. The second run one was fine though.

I have two diecast, the regular plastic one, and the metallic color plastic one as well. None of them had any QC issues. I guess I was lucky. }D

Hand lions have always been smaller... Much like people. Are your hands/arms the same size as your feet/legs?

A giant robot that is anthropomorphized. As almost are mecha are to some degree. I can't think of any bipedal robots that have arms as big as their legs. Quadrapedal's have arms as big as their legs and Voltron is bipedal. You are welcome to not like this aesthetic, but I think it's a strange reason you picked, particularly when that reason applies to all Voltrons ever. So it seems you should be saying you just don't like Voltron's aesthetic, as opposed to this particular version.

If this was the top secret "big news" that Adam and Josh could not speak about earlier in the year on CDX that many alluded to being a potential Voltron release, you have seriously got to be kidding me. SMH
