I just got my first combiner wars figures. A local chain kid toy store has a 50% clearance sale, so I bought the protectobots. Individually, they're pretty cool figures (for what they're worth and what I'm paying), I like the transformation to extend the feet - particularly the helicopter figures like Blades. The combined form is ok, I like how Hotspot transforms into his torso mode, how his ladder wraps down and around his body to form Defensor's head, but once combined, it's obvious that it won't do any dynamic pose since the hip articulation is really weak.
I don't like the black plastic used as Defensor's chest plate - they look really bad. Out of the five individual figures, I like First Aid's look the best, and I find Rook to be really cool. Guess I won't be missing Groove. Hotspot would've made first place, but he has too many holes on him! Unfortunately, I think Streetwise is too wide (big) compared with his team mates - so that's unfortunate. Could've retooled Blades to remove the missiles as well - why would rescue helicopters armed with missiles anyway?
After getting Defensor, it's safe to say that I won't be getting anymore combiner wars figures, unless on really, really cheap clearance sales.

Unless some nice new molds come out this will be my last combiner from the line.

IMHO, SkyLynx would've been more successful if it was a Titans Return toy. These 2 robots would look great in a much bigger size and with a headmaster.

Anyone have the Superion G2 boxed set? I have heard that some people got Silverbolts with fists that break off so I've been on the fence about this one. The price has dropped to about $89.99 for the set (which includes Silverbolt, Powerglide, Quickslinger, Firefly, Skydive and Air Raid).

I finally got a chance to check out the Superion G2 boxed set. I was disappointed. The QC for the set was not the best (I don't know if it has anything to do with the factory being in Vietnam instead of China -- newer factory?). I could see that the hinged wrist for the left fist of Silverbolt was already showing stress marks in the black plastic. I feared it would snap off as has happened to others. Superion's head (hidden inside Silverbolt) has painted rubbery antennae that are of questionable longevity (it feels like that paint will come off or that the rubber will just melt away). Also, the plastic used for Silverbolt does seem of lesser, cheaper quality. I also disliked the soft rubber on Silverbolt's nosecone and the nosecones and tail fins of the other planes. One of the planes had smashed plastic tabs -- looks like someone forced a transformation at the factory. I also found streaks and splotches of paint on the planes. Again, poor QC. I really wanted to like Superion, but the poor QC caused me to return it. I just wanted to warn you all. FYI, I have Combiner Wars Cyclonus -- it doesn't have these QC issues.

Hey guys. Life has sort kept me busy as of late. But anyway, I got Unite Warriors Superion as a birthday present a few months ago! And just today, I got a hold of Hasbro's version of Deluxe Groove from BigBadToyStore. I really, REALLY like how it looks, but I'm having some issues with the legs. They just don't want to tab together. I don't know if it's a defect because the tab is too long or because the slot has some excess plastic that prevents the legs from tabbing together, or it's NOT a defect and it's supposed to be that tight. I took a picture of it here.
(I can't upload pictures from my iPad to this website. ) What do you guys think? Is it a defect and I should ask BBTS for a replacement?

So a while ago, I contacted BBTS about the problem my Deluxe Groove has, and they told me that I could return it and get a refund, but they can't get me a new one because the pre-order for it sold out.
What do you guys think, should I take the refund or risk fixing the legs myself? It looks like a matter of shaving some excess plastic that's in the left leg's slot...

Is it possible for you to get the refund then source the figure somewhere else, like in ebay?

Not sure why Groove seems to be the chase figure for the moment. At the toy show, seller were asking $30 for it. Is this figure one of them last of the CW figures that rarely hit retail? Kinda like when everyone was looking for that Classics Generation Legends Class WindCharger? Figures that doesn't hit retailer like ToyrUs, Target and goes straight to Ross, TJMaxx etc..? Or is it because it new and people are just impatient?
Anyway, my recommendation, since BBTS can't exchange this figure for you is to wait it out. Do what ever mods you can to the figure to fix it for now. Sooner or later, this figure will pop up on retail shelf. Get another one when you find it. Then just take your broken one back to the store for a refund.

So very late on this line, but I now have two combiners to appreciate the line... who's moar studly? i.imgur.com/W2LmFLk.jpgstudliest... i.imgur.com/K52Fu4y.jpg Sadly, them two are prolly it for me, as I still don't quite like the aesthetics of the others. Unless, of course, UW-EX Megatronia suddenly becomes available at amzn for $80 shipped...

Okay, last month, I ordered Unite Warriors Bruticus from Amazon and I got him today (which is surprising because it was supposed to show up on January 23rd at the earliest and February 10th at the latest).
I fiddled around with the Combaticons and...there are some problems.
Onslaught: * the ratchets in his hips are too far apart. * his left knee is UNBELIEVABLY loose.
Vortex: * one of the rotor blades is looser than the others and is prone to falling off.
Blast Off: * Hip joints are crazy loose. * legs don't like to stay together and the tail fin doesn't help.
Brawl: * He's got loose joints all over the place.
Swindle: * legs don't like to stay together.
Bruticus: * he's not fun to pose. * the thumb/heel pieces in Brawl and Swindle's hand-feet-guns are very loose and don't make a clicky noise like Superion's. * Swindle in leg mode just falls apart. * Blast Off doesn't like to stay together in arm mode.
In hand, they look great. But a lot of the issues are really ruining the set for me.
...did I get a defective set? The seller from Amazon was named "A-Store from Japan" and they got a 94% rating.
