Wonder what "EX" stands for? Seems to be the popular lettering these days. EXtremely EXpensive? The Goraion is 5" tall so that would put the Ultimate Voltron at 14" I think??? Seeing as how it took Toynami almost 6 years to release just the electronic display base, we might get this one in time for Voltron's 45th Anniverary. lol. Gold

Will reserve judgement until it's further developed and color prototypes are released. At present, not impressed. IMHO, looks like Toynami is going for style over substance.

Nice, that's about it. This is yet another modernized version of the vintage Popy Golion. Nobody will even try to make an anime accurate Golion? Ever? The lions' legs still show in combined mode. The lions heads look like dog or wolf heads instead - and way too small. Seems they want to compete with MadToy's version instead of putting something out that nobody has ever done before. May get it, if the price drops enough... }| I agree on all that, but never make my collection, looks like a Disney Voltron. With all these Golions not one looks like the show wtf!

I remember a lot of disapproval comments about the MT Golion when it was still in the prototype stage by many of us here including myself, in which ultimately many of us ended up buying it and liking it in the end. Just my 2 cents but it will be interesting to see how many of you who are currently uninterested in this will end up buying one. Not to sound facetious or anything, but this is going to be robot crack for many of you, whether you want to admit it or not. (We'll see the difference in your posts from page 2 vs page 50 of this thread.) And yes, I admit my own guilt too because I do this from time to time. We all do.

I bought the MT, and I bought the 30th Anniversary. However, they are not in my top 50 figures to be honest. I guess I just bought them because I could. I truly dislike modern rendition of old toys, and that's exactly what all these die cast Golions/Voltrons are. Can't wait for ANY company to give me a die cast "combining" anime rendition of Golion. Then I'll be happy. }D

Miracle did both. but was plagued with QC issues. i dont really play with my toys ala GI Joes hehehe.. i much like them displayed and admired.

I really hope they try to include a lot of accessories with this, like the individual lion cannons and missile launchers. (Even if we don't get firing missiles, I hope they at least include the weaponry.)

Maybe if this is successful they will release more molds. I hope Mad toys was responsible to push them to put this out.
Still.. not crazy about the proportions... and I don't trust Toynami to make a good build. We shall see.
It seems like with the other SD voltron and this they are just putting out product to challenge the 3P stuff that's already out. It's a good sign for a healthy market, but it could be a dud.

We all do. for me bro i loved the MT one from the very first picture i saw for him ofcoures it didnt turn up %100 like the prototype pictures but i still think its the Ultimate Golion not this one at the very least MT came up with their own ideas and great structure to support the figure and the most important they listened to our feedback about it, on other hand toynami was milking this guy for 10 years with out improving any thing and they didnt listen to any one feedback to improve it and now because alot ot people head to MT instead of them they suddenly want compete ? any ways its to early to judge it now lets see what they are going to do with it, i just hope Bandai get a chance to teach them how to do a toy

Yeah, I bet MT was the one who finally lit a fire under their asses to produce something of actual good quality... Toynami's milked the same crappy mold 3 times already. Anyone know the quality of Toynami's MPC Robotech Veritech Fighters from about 10 years back? I always wanted to own that set but didn't have the money at the time. Was it a good thing to have missed out? I ended up later buying the Yamato 1/48 scale Valkyries instead.

It wasn't even a contest between that line and the Yammie 1/48 at the time. Like I said earlier I'll wait and see what toynami does this time...

I really felt like I missed out on something when I saw the packaging for those Veritechs... I guess I was judging a book by it's cover. Seems as this "Ultimate" Voltron is to be 18" in height... That seems to be a new scale we haven't seen yet for this figure in either official release or 3P. Hopefully with this larger scale, we'll have some immaculate detailing and poseability.

Sorry if I missed it in someone's post, but just saw Toynami Did an official Facebook post W pics yesterday, confirming the posts/comments by Gold & PowermasterX. If it's 18 inch tall and ABS plastic, with lots of cool detail, this is sort of a smaller version of what the Mattel set could have been if they had kept more features in the design. www.facebook.com/Toynami << I think you can click this and see pics/posts without having to log in to Facebook.
