Yeah, looks real good. I just can't get myself to buy any more Toynami stuff.

Looks very good. But, it's a very pricey piece of all-plastic. And when given the choice, it's Bandai all the way.

Does anyone have this in hand? I'm surprised at the lack of reviews of it anywhere?

Saw it in a store today while I was out buying my first Macross toy. It totally dwarfs the SOC version and looked very impressive to me, though I can't talk about articulation and plastic quality and whatever else. Paint didn't look like a $400 figure; it was very clean but I expect something either really rich or really detailed (preferably both) at that price-point, and the clean matte paint wasn't up to it for me. Perhaps not worth $400, depending on the material quality and engineering. But if this gets discounted down the road, I'd much rather have a massive, imposing Voltron than a relatively small die-cast figure.

Oh, and I found this on youtube just now Looking at the figure in this video, the paint looks better than I remember it. Maybe I was so taken up with my shiny new Valk that I didn't notice. Edit: I'm actually watching the review now and he keeps making really un-funny 'that's what she said' jokes. I guess we're starved for reviews and better take what we can get

Oh man, please don't watch that first video unless you want to start losing IQ points by the third "That's what she said" joke while shaky cam staring at a cardboard box like some found footage horror movie. The second video gives a nice look at the set. After watching it, my feelings are mixed. Is it a $400 robot? Heck no! It would be a great $200 robot, but $400, with the Bandai sitting at $300? yeah no. It looks like a Third Party Transformer as applied to Voltron. It has that 3p Transformer fit and finish. Nice clicky plastic joints. Paint is... meh? It's sharp and looks good. But it really really looks like painted plastic. Using good quality Acrylic paints, well applied. It doesn't have that luster that shine that the gokins have from their auto body lacquers.
Just from watching the videos, I can clearly see this is a subjective thing. It's a nice huge Voltron. almost but not quite as big as the Matty Collector. And that's its main selling point. Size. It's great, its well executed. But it seems grossly over priced for what it is. Here's hoping it hits $200 discount by Christmas. He might pair well with the Legendary Defender Voltron combiner.

I think you summed it up best; I agree entirely. I'm usually a sucker for big robots but this costs too much, and you get too little (especially relative to the Bandai)
