Looks like this is still coming out? From the recent NY Toyfair. Images courtesy of Toynewsi.com. The price will be a whooping 400 USD and release is around Oct 2016. Roughly 18". NO DIECAST! *IMGS* Original article toynewsi.com/news.php?itemid=25994&catid=406Personally, I think I'd rather get 2 Infinity Gokin Voltrons for the price of this fella. Gold interesting to see they went and gave it a metal finish look instead of the one that that was shows before making it more anime color accurate sort of speak ( i like it more the old color but perhaps this is the light making it more darker looking, but defenetly is metal finish). im also noticing that they change the color of the back foot covers for green and red lion as well the color coded in each of the lions circle on the legs. But $400? THIS?!?!, why the hell this cost $400?!?!, both hasbro and takara with each of there CW/ UW devastator versions they go around $150-$200 depending which one you get and where, plus it includes you 6 robots with quite a bit complex of transformation as well no diecast than this Ultimate voltron figure. HELL, there is even a 30 inch tall Leonardo figure that cost $180 in my local wallmart and/or toys r us which it can turn into a freaking giant base or even that there is a freaking giant 48" TMNT mike figure that cost like $50. how in the hell this is f**king worth it $400?, are they even trying to approach at all to the younger audiance as well to make Voltron popular and relevant at all specially when the new show was confirm to be made. well i guess ill have to skip this guy, i was hoping to get it in a resonable price range of $200 or $250 just so i can retire my trendmaster Voltron dimension figure.

I agree, unless they decided to add diecast metal in there (which I doubt), the $400 price tag is outrageous., even if Voltron is 18" tall.

So, in short: Toynami, put down the bong.

Sigh....$400. Unfortunately a pass for me. There are a lot of other things I could buy for $400. I was crazy enough to pay $289 for my MP Dairugger XV which I love and it is diecast with no defects.
I do want the new infinity Voltron when it is available, which will be far more justifiable. This simply is not. Will wait for a sale on some random site down the road if the reviews are kind.

what is funny to me is that the trendmaster 21" Voltron when it came out in 2000(?) for the Voltron dimension show it use to cost only between $45 to $60 been at retail stores and it had gimmicks from lighting eyes for each lion to fire missile from black blue and yellow to even shooting the head of red and green lion as well a cockpit for each lion to place the pilots. granted it has been more than 15 years of that figure but even so compare to this guy im baffle to the outrageous price range of $400.
Im really expecting this guy to have diecast at this point and at this price range.

How ironic you guys are complaining for a 18" transformable voltron is us $400 and most of you preorder a less than 7" mazinkaiser for almost us $300. with no diecast at all.
Weird.
Qnyeays, good looking voltron with strong precence... i wish colors where metallic.

And which Mazinkaiser would that be? A 7 inch mazinkaiser preordering at the $300 level, Riobot Mazinkaiser? Wait that one has metal. $400, can it sell well? If not and production level is high, hopefully it'll be on sale. That's what I am hoping for. It it doesn't sell well and the production is low. Then it becomes one them rare pieces that will cost even more when retail stock is gone.

Well, hey, this will fit on display nicely with the CW Hasbro/Takara Devastator set! LOL
This toy has been hinted at being "in the works" for years, so I hope it finally gets done.

$400 sounds like a lot and it is, but you do the math and each lion is $80. Similar pricing for any masterpiece transformer, which is all plastic too.
Obviously when a company makes a product they need to be profitable as well. There is all the costs of manufacturing etc...maybe the reality is cost of materials is higher than past plastic versions of this. You have new molds and engineering etc...
$299 would be more palatable than $399 but there is a valid reason for the price of which no one on here is privy to. This is aimed at the adult collector and there is a limited buying group out there that want this and maybe that is attributing to the higher price too. You won't see this in Target or Wal-Mart. It will only be on certain toy sites which the majority of the adult population know nothing about.

its not about plastic or diecast
for $400 each lion should have an led eyes with every single weapon that was showing in the anime, and the articulation should be way better than the KOB
for that price and knowing toynami quality, it will be an easy pass for me

I like that it is a different design, but I really don't care for the aesthetic vs the increased poseability. I know some people will really like it - to me it feels like a combination of "modern" "anime" style.
Will it sell? Sadly, probably. If you look at Voltron fans here in the states SOME of them seem to know only Voltron (and not "golion"), and not other Japanese robots, some don't even know that other toys like Transformers and GI Joe exist, they had Voltron growing up and that's what they know.
I feel bad for them because other than vintage LJN, and trendmasters and toynami for modern stuff, Voltron fans here in the states haven't had a lot of product available over the years, especially with the way WEP does things as well. So yes, I think here, the Voltron fans will buy this up.
I am sure whoever designed it put a lot of work (and/or heart) into it, so I will say this is a complete and utter piece of sh*t because of the price tag, size and material choice. It will be interesting to see if it holds up better than the Matty collector, toynami, or KOB though.

When they added "ultimate" I think they were talking about the price lol. I was looking forward to this but I don't think this is worth the price tag. Heck I'll probably make my own version since it would be a lot cheaper and a more enjoyable experience for me.

OriToy actually designed, engineered and are producing this figure in their factories. Toynami is just distributing this figure. OriToy has much better quality toys and it was a brilliant idea by Toynami to stop doing things in house and let some one else do it better and just cover distribution rights etc.

Too big for my collection and too big for my wallet. I'll just stick with my v1 KOB for my definitive Voltron.
