I do like the proportion and face sculpt alot!!
But it is indeed WAY too big and the $400 is not funny....the price is on 3A and HT territory. And Toynotme, Ori or not you're no 3A let alone Hot Toys.
Shrink it to 8 to 12 inch add some metal then reduce the price to around $250.

Taken from their FB page. www.facebook. com/Toynami/posts/939721252771846 Thank you for posting. But *facepalm* Lame excuse....take a look at Oris own upcoming Prime. Hes a diecast and is EXTREMELY posable. They are just digging bigger hole with bigger foot in their collective mouths. What do they take us for?

The reason why the price is so high is probably because they are releasing the toy for Ori and wanted a big cut. If Ori released this toy themselves I think the price would be a whole lot lower.

Yeah could be. That might be the REAL reason why theres no metal....Toynotme ate all the metal budget..

its not about plastic or diecast for $400 each lion should have an led eyes with every single weapon that was showing in the anime, and the articulation should be way better than the KOB for that price and knowing toynami quality, it will be an easy pass for me I would just like to say this was not produced by Toynami themselves. OriToy actually designed, engineered and are producing this figure in their factories. Toynami is just distributing this figure. OriToy has much better quality toys and it was a brilliant idea by Toynami to stop doing things in house and let some one else do it better and just cover distribution rights etc. Thanks for the info on this, I thought the whole time this was done by Toynami alone. Sounds smart to farm out design work. Other toy companies do this too. Very likely that projects like the Miracle Vehicle Voltron/Dairugger, and MadToys KOB were initially projects seeded by big "T", then rejected for production for various reasons. Happens all the time with prototyping-to-manufacturing. There's a whole lot of "what could've beens" in the toy world. Always fun to find that kind of info out years later with vintage toys too.

When they added "ultimate" I think they were talking about the price lol. I was looking forward to this but I don't think this is worth the price tag. Heck I'll probably make my own version since it would be a lot cheaper and a more enjoyable experience for me. I would love to see that, if you do i hope you make the legs hide away properly =D. its not about plastic or diecast for $400 each lion should have an led eyes with every single weapon that was showing in the anime, and the articulation should be way better than the KOB for that price and knowing toynami quality, it will be an easy pass for me I would just like to say this was not produced by Toynami themselves. OriToy has much better quality toys and it was a brilliant idea by Toynami to stop doing things in house and let some one else do it better and just cover distribution rights etc. i heard about them, i think they make this acid mecha as well some action figures that you could paint them to your style. i think its a small company still(?). Taken from their FB page. www.facebook. com/Toynami/posts/939721252771846 So is a 16" tall figure and not 18"?, so is even smaller than the Hasbro/Takara CW/UW Devastator but actually as tall as the Energon Omega Supreme, so where exactly is this still $400?? i get that there trying to aim it for the adult collectors which means reduce production, but right now they need to stop that because there making of that cartoon show which is aim for the younger audiance. So what are they gona make for them, pencils? im not saying i dont like it, i do any huge figure can do this pose earn my respect its the price that killed it for me agree, the figure looks incredible from all points from best rendition (not been to heavely modern but still gives you that hint of a classic style to it), best proportion, colors and articulation. Im really happy to see how the UVoltron looks in proper lighting compare to the previews recent pic. Such a difference. Fully agree that what it hurts this figure a lot is the price, there is no way to look at it. $400 is to much for what is a 16" figure that is made of plastic compare to others, its like really getting kick in the nuts by Superman

Hiding the legs of the lions is a tall order, I mean you've got tons of manufacturers that have made Voltron figures and still couldn't hide the legs. The only approach to this to make it look like the anime voltron is to detach the legs or make the legs push in further inside and then putting a cap on it. I'll try tackling voltron when I get more experience as I've wanted to try making a combining robot.

This was Toynami's chance to really make a big comeback in the collector community. With that $400 price tag though, they basically decided to fling poo at everyone instead.
Why aren't they bankrupt already? It mystifies me.

This was Toynami's chance to really make a big comeback in the collector community. With that $400 price tag though, they basically decided to fling poo at everyone instead. Why aren't they bankrupt already? It mystifies me. Because they haven't really poured much into new tooling or investments. They've milked the same Voltron tooling for 20 years in both plastic and die cast. They milked their Macross and Mospeada lines as far as they could. About the only new tooling we have seen from them in the past decade is for blow molded Vinyls, that mini Voltron and this thing. It would not surprise me if this thing is Toynami's last hurrah. They feel like a diminishing operation. Fewer and fewer products. And the fact that they no longer seem exclusive with WEP for Voltron is telling in a lot of ways. WEP as a small "Mom and Pop Robot Shop" has always been fiercely loyal to their business partners (often to the fans despair). That they seem to be branching out and more broadly licensing their core property makes me wonder how Toynami's is doing? Plus Toynami has developed a bit of a reputation among the adult robot buyers. How many people have Macross or Mospeada figures that you just want to fling at a wall in frustration? As I said awhile back, it isn't just that it is plastic. It is Toynami's plastic! And there is a lot of bad experience and karma there. I know some have said that no, this is actually OriToys designs, factory and plastic. Honestly? I don't care. I don't know Ori. I've never heard of them before. And I sure as hell am not going to fork over $400 for a hunk of plastic that has Toynami stamped on the box! If Ori wants me to experience the greatness of their product and attract my business, it needs some teaser product that is affordable, and not marked with the label of someone who I have had mostly bad experiences with. At $150-$200 this might have been a risk I was willing to take. At $400? No freaking way!

Nah! We never hope for the demise of a toy company or producer. It scares off others. Although some cheers if a license were to move elsewhere might be appropriate. And yeah I know it sounds hypocritical, but when companies die it often sends the wrong message to other companies and investors. It is very hard to differentiate between a weak market or internal or product failures when looking in from the outside. Any failure makes it that much harder for the next manufacturer to jump into get financing.
Of course there is some hope for new manufacturers on the horizon. I keep waiting for one or two of the current glut of 3 red Party Transformers makers to realize that there is a deeper pool of subjects, many of which are cheap to license.

I'm getting this one, mostly because: 1. That superb articulations especially in combined form. 2. The well proportioned lions, especially with the black lion having a larger head than the blue and yellow ones. 3. That handsome face. 4. All plastic construction given the posability and size.
So far, none of the combinable Voltrons have the face quite rightly proportioned : the Toynami Masterpiece version has a rather elongated face, the MT KoB has a comically small face, and the SOC has a V-shaped one. Anime accuracy wise, the SOC+Toynami MP would give the best result.
