This is what i dont get it with Bandai. Mazinger Z isnt that really an intricate design. Its more simple if you compare it with other Chogokins. But it took them a number of release before they could come up with a close to goodness anime retro Mazinger Z chogokin. Milking the cow perhaps until it runs out of milk then boom, an anime release Mazinger Z. Pure marketing strategy Bandai.

Get used to the price, the newer src releases have been hitting at 80-100 dollars so it was certain that this mazinger would cost more. It's still not as bad compared to the pricing of sentinel and evolution toy considering the amount of die cast along with good Bandai engineering of this figure.

my god... that mazinger z dc is the most awesome looking one ever, very anime accurate to the source outside of the articulation of course. the picture with the front profile of the figure truly shows that the proportions are indeed spot on, not to bulky but not to skinny, just accurately right. I also like the paint details to match the anime accurate look like the 2 red versions of the scrander's wing as well the actual white color for the belt as oppose to silver that we have seen so many times.
I really don't see why people think its to skinny, perhaps we have gotten so use to the the gx-01 molds and the src molds that makes him to bulky that we think its the true proportion, for me it looks perfect in proportion and more accurate to the anime look. However, the only thing i would criticise about it is that the jet scrander's wings dont truly fold but part swap to meet the requirement for the clean look for either standby or flight mode, still also can't bend the wings upwards like in the anime before taking off. but i guess is the price to pay for the anime clean look.
looking forward on getting him, i can't wait to see what they do to great mazinger, grendizer and the getters.

This could lead to super articulated chogokin release in the future. you are right after taking a good look at the photos in Chen post you can see similar SRC joints system specially in here, double jointed elbows ?  and here, double jointed knees ?  also this photo reveal alot about the figure notice the upper back where the Scrander supposed to get attached thats a new way, also the lower leg i dont know if it was design like that or have a gimmick, lastly the bottom of the feet, is it going to have the boosters like the anime ? last thing im worried about is this  i know this is a prototype but is this orange joints (black in the final product) going to be exposed like this in the finial product ? Bandai should release a promo video for this guy also are they going to display it in NYCC ? |

I love Mazinger and I love this new figure but I'm slightly bummed it only comes w the jet pilder and not the classic hover pilder. It must be intentional on Bandai's part. Maybe it will be released at a later date with another remake? Or accessories?
