Apparently, a lot of people on here don't like AE anymore. Their communications is lacking but they always came through for me.

Anime-Island put up their preorder last night. Guess they knew about the high demand so there is no initial discount from the $139.99 price. However they do have a Labor Day promotion going on and you can apply a 12% OFF coupon code and has free shipping and no tax. Rounds up about maybe a few dollars cheaper than amiami or HLJ after shipping, but not by much. Since I shop there often enough, I still have $8 credit in my account, so that helps bring it down a tad too. This is the odd thing about Anime-Island. They somehow refund me a couple dollars credit from my previous orders all the time and leave it in my account, but I have no idea how they calculate or if it was from their point system. But its nice to see it everytime I try to pay new preorders off, and there is often a couple bucks credit to use. Im tempted to order from Anime Island but after my experience with them cancelling mt 40th anniv Voltes V, im having 2nd thoughts. Thou their free shipping is really too good to pass except im not sure the weight with this new Mazinger SOC.

Anime-Island is great if yo live in the states. The minute they add shipement costs to other countries it loses right away any advantage they might have. As a Canadian I rather order from a Japanese retailer, not only they usually have their stuff sooner and cheaper but I get it faster than Anime-Island shipping me stuff up north across the border. I thought theyre offering free shipping? Im also from Canada and im looking for the best deal since exchange rate is just ridiculous at the moment.

Looks like Anime-Island lowered the price by $5, now $134.99 (plus labor day discount 12% off & free shipping)
BBTS also has their preorder up, also at $134.99.

Shipping on Anime Island is free if the package is under 4lbs. Guess the Mazinger isn't 4 pounds...? I'm going through the preorder and it's asking me to pick the shipping option and the cheapest is $50ish CAD.

There goes the Free shipping, I've heard over my friends to use PO Boxes across the border. They said it cost $5 pee item to be picked up somewhere near the border. Haven't tried it since I don't know how and where to start with it in the first place.

50$ to get it shipped to Canada?
GX-71, wich is quite bigger I think, cost me 60$US and DX Great Mazinger shipping was at 67$US.
But one major point is at they lower the declared value, so in the end I avoid tax.

There are a lot of pickup point next to the border. One I heard is the first exit in the USA once you cross the border at Lacolle. It's 5$ per package, up to 50lbs, something like that.
I don't know how it work exactly, I expect you go to the border, sey you pick up a delivery, when you come back you show the bill and pay the tax.

$50 CAD to ship to you guys?
Man, that's brutal.
On second thought that's a great reason to buy multiples.

I'm just on the fence about this one. I've never been big on owning multiples of the same character unless they're significantly different, and I'm not talking about just engineering. Since I already own GX-01R, I'm not seeing a lot of point in getting this one...except for the articulation. In which case it'll still stick out among GX-02R and GX-04. Same here. It's a nice Mazinger Z, which the local "experts" proclaim the most accurate ever. But I already have more Maz specimens than I really want or need. I may pick it up, but it isn't one I plan on pre-ordering.

I believe Anime Island is located in Florida. So that's the bottom of the southeast US. For domestic shipping to me in the northeast US it would be more expensive than somewhere closer. The high cost to send medium and large packages to Canada by US Postal Service coupled with their distance from the border makes it cost so much. When ordering things from the US to ship to Canada, you have to take into account where the place in the US is vs where you are in Canada, as some places in Canada can be clear across the country also, so it can be like traveling 1.5-2 countries to get you your package. Also, anything bigger than first class international must go global priority 3-7 day, or global EMS 1-3 day per US Postal weight and size guidelines. So there will always be extra cost on items of a certain size.

Maybe they charge up front the shipping and when the item is in stock, if it's under 4 pound, you get a refund.
We should ask them.
