I didn't buy the maketoy version yesterday because I think as this release comes the prices of the 3rd party figures will come down. I hoping for 3rd Party Prices to dip but history has shown that official releases doesn't really have much of a effect. Looking at the MP Inferno, the 3rd Party Ox Max, Maketoys and the yet to be release TFC version didn't really go down in price. And I doubt it will drop much once Inferno is release. Similarly, FT Quakewave. It dropped slightly, but not much. Competition between these 3P cause more or a dip over official releases. MT's version of Megatron looks good but I just can't stand the front legs being all black. In a way, the bulkyness is nice, I like the proportions, but the design feels more modernized. Gonna replace my Apollyon but not with MT. Gonna stick with Official. |

I bought the MT version, I dont have it in hand yet. I do wish that MT had included a Toon accurate head sculpt. I think I would then feel less inclined to purchase the TT version.
I don't like how many panels there are to make up the chest/torso and that there are hollow areas on the back of the arms.

I'm getting this, I was leaning towards the MT version but where possible I will buy Official over 3rd party. It's not perfect but it does have enough tiny elements and cool features to make it to the head of the pack for me. Plus for me Megatron's legs have always been the focal and defining part of his design like Prime with his chest and shoulders/smokestacks. And this one nails the look and feel of it the best.

I'm trying to determine if the price is worth paying for MP Megs. I'm asking myself - do I need another Megs? Has Takara made the best version. $230.00 for just one figure?
I've ordered one, but MT Despotron looks so very good and has been doing a Great job on my shelf.

The high ups at Takara MP team is a metal hater.....
Soon, even the screws will be "composite."
He will say things like, " due to all the cutting edge transformation engineering required, we made intentional decision to not use any diecast."
Now its lighter yet stronger......and no worring about paint chips.....
Trust me, its better this way.."
But they kept the price high....you know the price of petrolium.... S/

LOL, speak with your wallet, GGG! Buy a 3rd party Megatron. I think they range from USD 100-130 in price, but not crazy above 200 like the official.

I think the $150+ price at AE is very reasonable for an official meg that looks to me better than other 3p products. I've been holding out for the official meg all this time and am glad I did!

I would expect a silver, a black and now maybe an SG version. I expect them to milk this mold for all they can.

Yeah, Hobby Search has him up too...Ami2 has him for cheapest of the 3. But, Anime Export has the lowest price.
I went with Ami2 as I can do a combined shipment with something else.
