Just paid for mine at HLJ. Took a while since they sent an email stating they'd be putting an orange plug on it to comply with US laws.

Oh, I heard bad thing from collectors over at the tfw2005 forum about HLJ when it comes to this Megatron. Apparently, they are using some kind of glue that bonds permanently and people are having a really tough time removing the orange plugs.

Not cool. My other Megatron toys (Apollyon and the original MP Megatron) didn't have any glue at all. Hopefully removing the one I get from HLJ doesn't give me any grief.

Well got Megs in from HLJ. Two orange plugs. One on the figure and another on the silencer. The one on the figure just fell out as I picked up the figure. The one on the silencer was a little harder but nothing a big pair of vise grips couldn't remove. It was a semi tight fit plus they put some rubber cement which is why you couldn't pull it out by hand.

Was there any residue from the glue or damage to the plastic/finish?

Was there any residue from the glue or damage to the plastic/finish? No. The rubber cement was easily removed by just rubbing it off. They used very little on the silencer. They used none at all on the plug for the figure.

I hear there are many problems with this masterpiece like easily broken parts such as the legs.

Paint chipping is the inevitable. Too many paint on paint parts. Breakage can be avoided though. Just follow the instructions or check out most of the videos on proper transformation. I was able to transform him to gun and back already and it's not that bad.

Heck yeah, I'm sure. I own a copy of MP36. My pics are on this thread. I'm active on TFW about MP36 stuff. Those stuff you linked from seibertron? Those came from TFW forum first, iirc. There were reasons why those unfortunate damages happened, and it's not because the toy is fragile or whatever. It's pretty much all user/owner-error.

I just don't like to see one who has been waiting for that Masterpiece figure only for it to break easily.

I don't have one, but just from watching the 30 minute review last week (foreign YouTuber, linked a few posts back) I can say this is an intricate/delicate toy. If you don't do something right, you will break it. Watch the video and see how many little tabs and panels there are with both pivot/turning and folding joints. The steps to transform are pretty nuts.
