For how much was done wrong on this figure, I felt there was so much that was done right. For one, he weighs a ton. I mean this thing ranks up there in the super heavy weights of gokin. The individual lions look really good when separated. The Black lion imparticular is very impressive and no matter what anyone says, it looks way better than the original black lion ever did. The articulation is great. In fact, I think the articulation is about as good as could be done when you have this much metal involved. And finally, there have been very few reports of any genuine problems. People were talking about how the Blue lion wouldn't connect, but I guarantee you their only problem is that they aren't pushing them together hard enough, because once you get it to click together the first time it's fine after that. I agree that Toynami has a bad track record, but this really is a good figure.

Yes, for the rest Toynami had done a very good job... Weight is great! The single lions are great, and also posability is very good... I agree with you, even if the lack of accessories...

I doubt Bandai will make Gunbuster 10 times larger than GX-01R, see what I mean. The most Bandai can come up with a Gunbuster SOC is make it the same size (or a little bigger) as the current combiners like Zambot Combattler, and Voltes V. If Bandai can pull off a combining Buster Machine 1 & 2 ala Half Eye's version, that would make it even sweeter as my LAST SOC toy.

This is one toy that I'm actually afraid of combining. The weight of the parts, plus the fragility (at least in my opinion), of the arm/shoulder connectors, plus the fear that was instilled in me by all those with chrome chipping experiences (thanks a lot guys...kidding!) has made me keep them in lion mode. But Xiombarg's right in that they look absolutely dynamite with neat articulation and fierce poses! Looks great as a lion team sitting next to ol' combined Go-Lion!

One thing Josh points out in this review that is worth noting, is that the plastic used for the legs is harder and more solid than what you would expect. The plastic used has a relatively sturdy feel to it compared to what I expected from the pics. I expected something brittle and chinsy when the finished pics were first being posted, but the quality on the plastic was one of the first surprises to me.

True. I'm just glad Toynami's finally stepping up to the plate on their QC. Now where's that Tread?

Im not so happy about this toy for reasons that like the other person who bought his Voltron the blue lion doesn't fit on the black lions leg-. Chrome wear/ scratches on the lions feet. Im not just happy with it. I like the godaikin version better by a mile.

excellent point bro, though the shoulder pegs can also seem to break with excessive force in attaching the red and green lions, or when always attaching and removing these lions (durability in playware). extra care is needed with these parts. anyways, i'm getting mine this january. this mp voltron rocks! This remind me of my brother's original godaikin voltron/golion The solder pegs (black lion left front leg) broke when we try to detach the green lion. Say I'm also curious if the old Taiwan bootleg voltron the same scale as the godaikin version? If I'm not mistaken I have seen the bootleg version of godmars and it's smaller compare to godaikin version.

The Lionbot bootlegs were not bad copies of the Golion. I guess, however there were different grades of bootlegs, for the most part, they were the same size as Golion, colors and materials for some parts varied, however to the non-collector and collectors without OCD, this was the same toy. The Matchbox Repro may have been the closest to the Golion, since it came off the same mold and believe Matchbox imported it, while Bandai manufactured it.
This baby looks promising, I should get one soon and have a better opinion, as for this thing going to $50...hmmm that maybe a long time coming, but considering the Diecast content, size and people's (Americans...) relationship with the Voltron franchise, limited availability (15K)...
I have non-collector friends who ask me, "Why do you have so many Voltrons?"

;D Apologies for digging up this really old thread but I just wanted to share this: Voltron Panosh Place Vintage Castle of Lions I came across a good deal on this on Ebay a while back. Pretty sweet deal even if the whole set was missing a lot of accessories. I really don’t mind, the main thing I was after was the Castle itself. As long as there was no yellowing and the façade was decent then it was worthy of being put next to the Toynami Masterpiece Voltron. Castle expanded Cannons deployed Each cannon is different from the others Tower is removable to reveal carry handle Castle Stats: -Dimensions are 20.5 x 11.5 x 10 Inches -Castle expands to 23” long when the walls are deployed Internal play features Castle left wing Gun storage (I’m missing a lot of guns) King Alfor’s tomb (I’m missing the bird statue, and a coffin accessory, kinda morbid for a toy to have a coffin and tomb inside though.) Pulling on the secret tab will reveal the image of Alfor. Creepy. Lower floor is missing the table (with star map sticker) Computer on the second floor (missing the console chair) Secret drawer holds the Golden Key for Voltron. Front door can be open (and held in place with a secret tab) for Lions to go in or out Castle Right Wing Zipline Lower area is supposed to have the access vehicles to the Lions The seller included these two figures (one on the left is a Robeast) With the Toynami MPC Voltron. Nice! The Panosh Voltron has to be the ugliest rendition of the robot - EVER! However, the Castle looks sweet next to the MPC Voltron... I'm gonna have to get me one.

Thanks for sharing Gold. I contemplated getting that castle awhile back but I just thought (to me) it didn't have the same effect as the Nabara, Big Falcon, or Mazinger hanger. It just didn't have that "hanger/base" effect for the actual robot. Nonetheless it is a sharp looking piece of voltron novelty. I did get a much prettier version of the Panosh Voltron under the guise of Trendmasters:

Thanks themazingerz, yeah, I agree, the Panosh Voltron didn't appeal to me even when I was a kid. Thanks Lurkerx, I was hoping Toynami would make a castle for their Voltron but even up to this time they haven't even released the electronic display base. So I gave in and got the vintage castle. Gold

Hey Mr. Gold, I know its not the REAL Voltron Castle, but Toynami did make those bookends. Now if they could just follow that design and make it 2 to 3 times larger and have it transform into the Cruiser Attack form, then that would be perfect. Who knows? With the way Toynami releases their stuff we could see one by 2020 ?!?! ;D
