After the success of Godanner (and all their Max Gokin figures) it's surprising to me that Max Factory has backed away from the Max Gokin line. I thought they had a great line going, but nothing new in the Max Gokin line has been scheduled to come out this year that I know of.
Currently it seems Max Factory has been focusing exclusively on their plastic women figures. It's too bad.
Did anyone else feel like the Max Factory Gaogaigar was the first figure to move things up a notch artistically in robot figures, and maybe also challenge SOCs rule a bit? I've felt that the Max GGGG paved the way for companies like CM and Fewture to know there is a market for high end, contemporary robot design.

Is Godannar a success though Xiombarg? I got mines recently and was suprised to see that the price still didn't jump all that much. Compare it to the Voltes V SOC. They came out around the same time and is really hard to find Voltes V brand new for less than 200. Godannar is still selling at the 175-185 price ranges, which is what it was at, when it was first released. Then there was the whole QC issue that everyone was writing about when Godannar first came out. Those that were lucky enough didn't get any paint chip, But there are numerous ones on mines right out of the box. Although I like my Godannar, and I consider it to be my most kick-A** gokin, I don't think Godannar was a big hit. Thus, maybe Max Factory was slow to issue the next Max Gokin. Reissues are alway welcome. I wasn't collection when this Max GGGG was first released so I am glad I'll get it at retail price. Hopefully they will do the same for Mazinkaiser.

Same for me, when I looked to buy a GGGG, my favourite choice was the Max one, but it sold over 250-300 $ on ebay so I finally bought the CMS one. But I regret it, too fragile. So I'll be very happy to get the Max Gokin at a normal price too.

You've got some good points, but I've always speculated that the price stayed low due to a higher supply volume than that of their previous gokins. It is certain that the supply did keep up with demand, or even exceeded overall demand, but with a higher number of units produced I've always assumed they also made more profit? Who knows, maybe their profit margin was extremely low being the only way they could get rid of inventory?

Ultimatly though, which is worth it's price more? The CMS Genesic or the Max Factory? The Max Factory looks nice and comes with a few accessories, but the CMS version has looks, comes with accessories, AND can transform. Plus it was ultimatly cheaper than the Max Factory. So what gives? Is the Max Factory version really that much better and worth the money in the long run?

I broke his knee joint just by moving him, I was not even trying to transform it. I'll get the Max Factory one, he looks better and I bet it doesn't break so easily...

$200 for this is not very expensive considering the first release will run you $300 or more in some places. I think I paid that much for mine. I try to forget such memories! LOL i also have those pretty "memories"... paid my GX-02R for almost $180.. my GX-03 for $200, my GX(s) evangelion for $90+ each.. the only memories that comforts me was my purchase of the maxfactory mazinkaiser for $130 ;D ;D ;D OMG!

Well, I have all the CM's GaoGaiGars and none of them has had those problems mentioned above. Even dropped one from the shelf one time and it did not break - to my surprise! They are not diecast, but they are not as fragile as they are said to be. They are just regular plastic joints on good size figures. I must say that they can be a pain to assemble and dissasemble and things could get very tight from time to time. The key word is to work with the figure and not force it like it was made out of steel.

thanks pre, i got a good deal on ebay a week ago, first issue, the seller said that he fixed the left leg.... and it was done nicely that you cant see how he fixed it. a little off topic, i want to know something about the parts, since im not familiar with the toy and it came "displayed already" is there supposed to be something here?

Woot ! Got mine today too I couldn't wait until september, and I had a nice deal for version 1.0 : 12000 yen on Yahoo Japan. It's a pure jewel, pictures & more impressions coming soon. In those areas you marked, there are some "sockets" to plug the hands into the arms.

If he was displaying the figure then these sockets for the hands to plug into were probably left on the figure. I love this figure. It's a real beauty.

GGGG is still probably the best Maxfactory figure made (besides the stiff hip problem), tons of diecast and the detailing and paint is flawless.
