It is a great piece and I was lucky to grab it. It came with a really cool lionbot manual in French. The funny part is that you are able to actually see “Godaikin” in the lower right hand corner where they copied right over it. This model was made in Taiwan, does not have the gb-36 silver stickers as the US version. I would say its an official Lionbot.

I was actually able to get it at a really good price. I did not pay the asking price. It is very cool. I am gathering some more information and will update. I wish I knew how to add pictures.

I received my Irwin toy Co. Matchbox Voltron today. Irwin toy Co. was a Canadian toy company. This Matchbox DX version came with weapons. I am gathering as much information about this piece as I can. I have been speaking with someone from Canada who has one though he thinks that mine is an earlier version than his. Anyone on here have one or any knowledge about this Version?

Thanks Ed. I appreciate the input. I unfortunately have a healthy obsession with boxes and want to preserve a piece I just picked up.
Thanks again

Anyone ever have any of their Godaikins or Popy pieces graded? If so did you have it done online or local? Also does anyone know of an online store for custom cases? Thanks.

Thanks for the input. I also confirmed with an Italian collector that they never had chrome joints and tails.

Does anyone know if early French/Italian Popy Golions had chrome midsections and tails on the red and green lions?

I am looking to purchase a French/Italian DX Popy Golion, Korean Yellow winged K/O Voltron and a Boxed V-Belt lionbot. If anyone has either of these 3 please message me. Thanks.

Just curious to everyones thoughts in reference to vintage popy or Godaikin series 1, 2 and 3 and the value they will bring in years to come. The question comes about secondary to my fathers 1956 Chevy, beautiful car, top notch. Its value has actually decreased from just 5 years ago. Many of these vintage cars are cheaper to purchase and the theory is that the “younger generation” have no interest in them as they did not grow up with these cars. No passion for these types of cars.
Do you foresee the same situation happening with these vintage robots in the future or will they continue to gain value over time and why?
Have a good one.

Thanks again guys.

Yes, I know. PULL!!!! Lol. So I just bought a Godaikin Golion and the red lion is stuck in the left side of the black lion. I have tried to pull as I would any other golion though this seems really stick. Any tips or tricks to remove without breaking anything would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I believe so. I find it weird that they do not have the silver stickers on them either. Anyone know the reasoning behind why they were left off on these?
