305 was after comission shipping will probably be 70 still far less than msrp And then you get raped by the customs. Sorry, not trying to hex you here. I was lucky with most of my hauls this year, even big ones, but this one got hit, hard. Too bad AmiAmi doesn't undervalue parcels.

Well I won't be writing a review after all. If I were to write one now, I'd just repeat most of JoshB's post on CollectionDX.

Anybody getting the vinyl bad guys? I'm getting Fau. Not sure on Duo... have the old figure from Bandai's Anime line, and it's pretty good (much better than the Big O from the same line, IMO). Not as nice as the MF vinyl, but it was way cheaper and has pretty okay articulation. I guess if the magical money fairy visits and I can fit MF's Big O into my budget, then I'd pick up Duo for sure. I'm really digging Fau. Looks so weird and icecream like that I must have it. I remember seeing some episodes but don't remember much; was the series worth seeing? My brother once told me that the robot was there just for show and didn't matter much for the actual plot. As for you guys thinking about getting Big O it from Amazon; I've been using this guy for purchases in Japan for almost a year: dv8cag.com/Really nice guy and very helpfull. Tell him pluckyman send you.

Hey guys i need some advice please... Recently i got the Big O from ebay from a seller that said he never played with it. The seller was very friendly, even wrote indications on the shipping box so that i knew where to cut it open first without damaging the toy's box. But after examining the toy i noticed that the cover for the batteries on the back had the two tabs broken. Because of that when the batteries are inserted the cover and also the batteries stay loose and the lights flicker. I contacted the seller asking if he knew about it and he said he had never taken it out of the box. What do you think i should do? Give him a negative feedback or forget about it?

If the rest of it looks brand new, then it could be a factory defect. They may have broken the tabs during assembly. It happens a lot... just remember a the SOC Daimos and all the Fewture releases. ;D

Hey guys. So, after long consideration (and having been largely persuaded by Josh B's glowing review on CDX), I took the plunge and purchased Big O. Man, this is an awesome toy. I really can't say more than what his review has already stated but I, too, deeply recommend this figure. It is simply exquisite. Beautiful sculpt, detailing and paint. The size (and weight) is impressive as well - FYI. I actually also bought Big Duo and Big Fau. They're definitely just for show (all vinyl with very limited posability) but they look so awesome all together. Everyone should buy these figures if you have room to display them. Totally awesome.

Good choice. I took the plunge a while back. The weight is truly amazing. Very underrated piece.

I think it has more to do about the character and less about the toy itself. If it was a Mazinger, Eva, GGG, or a more popular design this thing would have sold out instantly and probably be on its second or third production run.

Agreed - but I think the price has a lot to do with it as well. This figure is unfortunately not cheap. It is an amazingly designed piece (truly a work of art) and, as such, carries a larger price tag than the previous MaxFactory releases. That coupled with the terrible $-Y exchange rate has really marginalized this piece, sadly. I don't actually know what it cost to make this guy but I can only imagine that MaxFactory will be lucky to break even if they sell the whole production run. I certainly don't think it's overpriced. Only time will tell if the supply lags and the figures drop in price like Dragonar did but, I have a funny feeling that these Big O figures were produced in such low numbers that the available stock might end up becoming very pricey in the next year. I recall MF Godannar (another relatively unpopular character when compared to Mazinger or the Getters, etc) was available for like $100 for the first year of its release. Now they're somewhere around 3 or 4 hundred on the after market. If the same principle applies to the Bigs, the prices could become truly prohibitive down the line. I could be wrong but I recommend getting him while you can as I really doubt there will be a second run.

Slightly OT but here's a quick look at the Figma Dorothy R. Wayneright and the Wonderfestival 2011 Exclusive Roger Smith Figma R. Dorothy Wayneright I’ve never bought a single Figma figure until now, I’ve always read about how fragile they are. I jumped on the bandwagon after they finally made a figure based one of my favorite Robot Anime, Big-O. R. Dorothy is a gynoid, more commonly known as a fembot. The “R” stands for “Robot”. The figure comes with a display stand, extra hands, a face looking to her right, a mop and the pet cat, Pero. She also has an alternate front hair piece, depicting her “disc drive” ejected. Wonderfestival 2011 Exclusive Roger Smith. This figure came out first as an exclusive to the Wonderfest event but later came out on the Goodsmile Website on preorder basis only. It’s too bad I missed out on the preorder deadline (found out about it too late) as even international buyers were welcome. I had to pick this up on the secondary market. Roger Smith I really love the animated style in this series, very, very close to Batman the Animated Series. Optional faces. Roger Smith – the Negotiator. It’s really cool that his briefcase opens up to show “cash”. Optional hands and standard Figma figure stand. Also included is an optional left forearm piece. Showing Roger’s “watch” for calling in Big-O Big-O, Show time!! I’m using the SOC Big-O, since I find the Max Factory version too expensive and the scale doesn’t work perfectly either way anyway. With Dorothy R. Wayneright I love this figure, it just sucks that he’s an exclusive and costs more than Dorothy. Personally I’d probably go nuts (and broke) if Figma ever decides to release a whole line dedicated to Super Robot pilots. Gold

Thanks Locidm, yeah, it's too bad we didn't get wind of the online promotion for the figure (it ended way back in August 2011), it was the only way to get the figure practically at SRP. Gold

Thanks Locidm, yeah, it's too bad we didn't get wind of the online promotion for the figure (it ended way back in August 2011), it was the only way to get the figure practically at SRP. Ah, bummer. There was discussion about Roger in the old "A figma of your imagination" thread last summer, and the preorder link and everything was there. I feel bad that I didn't think to cross-post that information in this thread too. If anyone's still on the fence, Roger is ABSOLUTELY worth it. They nailed the character in every way. It's also one of the best executed suits I've ever seen on an action figure. So, anybody get the vinyl figures? Any reviews? Sorry I didn't see this sooner! I did get Fau. I still don't have Duo, but having Fau in hand really makes me want him (and, of course, the matching O). Fau is a really beautiful figure with a lot of shelf presence, and has quickly become one of my favorites in my collection. I personally feel that this is the sort of robot "toy" that you could get away with displaying in your office at a billion-dollar company. It just has class. Max Factory did a fantastic job! Articulation is limited as is to be expected. I think that really works in Fau's favor, actually -- awkward hinges would really hurt this design. Articulation is limited to simple swivels where parts join: neck, shoulders, elbows, wrists, where the legs meet the hips, and knees. Really, this is enough. Bigs are not dancers. The details and lines are great. The translucent piece in the chest works really well. The paint on mine isn't perfect, but it looks like it was done by hand in a lot of places and is pretty damn impressive. The flaws are unnoticeable unless you get really close (or take pictures like these, which inevitably make figures look sloppier than they are). And a little bit of out-of-focus-scale comparison for good measure!
