Hmmm? All this talk on the Big O got me to start rewatching it. I do love it's world of missing memories. Kind of reminds me of the movie"Dark City". One thing I had not realized was the Big-O Mecha were all designed by Keiichi Sato, who also designed the stuff from the Mazinkaiser OVA. Lookung at it now you can see someof the design styling similarities. Especially in the MK OVA villain mecha. Also the more that I look at that MAX Gokin Big O, the more that single upper torso/chest/shoulder plate really really bothers me. They got so much right with this robot. And were so meticulous in so many ways, to get that that glaringly wrong? For those not familiar with the robot, that collar around the neck with the red cockpit piece is supposed to be separate and move separately from the upper chest plate that houses the cannons. And it's not a minor nitpick. It's a key part of the robots design and factors into every episode. It's like if they did Mazinger Z's Pilder completely wrong. Oh gods! Am I turning into one of those really crotchety nitpicky nerds on the interwebz? And for a moment I though that I was reading Baron's post.

The MF Big-O perhaps the pre-cursor to Bandai's Kurogane finish....

I just saw this. Max Gokin looks awesome. Seems better than SoC in my opinion.

The SOC kurogane version is possibly the most beautiful SOC ever. It takes the regular version to a whole different level. It just takes my breadth away. The Max gokin has great size and looks nice, but not as refined as the SOC.
I would rank the kurogane version over the Max Gokin, then the regular SOC version.

I agree the SOC Big-O Kurogane version is spectacular but in my opinion the whole "cast iron" look was done first by MF almost 10 years ago and most likely influenced Bandai's try of that look.

Yea I'd just read it as a who-inspired-who and not preference but regardless I'm happy with this one as it completes out the Max Gokin line and has a great presence.

Very intrigued Basically the original soc but with all the extras (from the option parts set) and one of the most beautiful matte finish (kurogane). Gorgeous release, I took mine out the box and returned it (lack of space), but I loved it. On the downside I've read that the paint can be chipped easily so you have to be extra careful

Getting ready to break my Max Gokin Big O out of storage jail with Genesic Gaogaigar to display with Hagane Works Mazinkaiser since it seems like that's going to be GSC's successor to the Max Gokin line... may try to hunt down the Max Mazinkaiser and Dragonar again too...
