Great review optimusprimeSG. These are selling at very reasonable prices in Japan 2,1000 yen or so. From what I have heard, sales are very fast. What is the word in Singapore on sales of this?

Mandarake is buying them for around $295 and selling at $315 ish, so thats probably the floor for price. There is of course $20-30 give and take based on condition.

A chogokin probably has less metal than a frying pan, and frying pan prices seem pretty steady. So it could be the labor, i heard Mexico and China will have the same labor costs in a few years.
it does seem like MSRPs are rising but retailers like amazon jp are offering 20-35% discounts.

I am thinking of ordering 10 of these and selling them out of my car trunk outside Frank and Sons in LA. i might be able to price them slightly below retail each.

My robots are slowly rolling in and this was what I got for Friday. Overall a very good bird robot. As people mentioned there are some sharp parts and some of the transformation I am worried about hurting the toy. When transforming, I have to be careful not to put my hand on the robot head. The design and detail are above average. I dont like the smaller Tobikage figure as much. I dont like the proportions, especially around the waist area. Head looks too small. Shoulders look too big. This set has lots of fun extras parts. I paid about $140 for a used one. AmiAmi had these for around $70 at release time, so it looks like the toy doubled in value since its 2010 release.

- "Regarding Rocket Punch." That is actually a pretty cool name for a blog or screen name. Its sort of like "the Cider House Rules" for robot fans.

I was fortunate enough to see some of the Yamato movies and Galaxy Express 999, and a couple other classics in a theater. I can't explain what a difference watching these in a theater and on a tv is. Long shots of a starship bridge or ships passing in space have much more impact.
The second 999 movie had a 12 minute scene with two characters standing on top of a space train and a full screen of bodies floating in the background all over a 9 meter screen. It was mesmerizing in a dark theater, in the country that was probably the closest thing to a spaceship there is out there. I wish I could show it to you.
On the Japanese youtube comments for clips of these movies there are people talking about crying at the end. It was an age undreamed of and they can't get back there, and they know they can't.
50s-60s jazz, Motown, 70s rock and 70s country-these are sampled everywhere but none of them have returned to what they were.

Thank you for the info gold. I was looking around and didn't see anything about this on a few Japanese sights, so TFSource is right on top of things.

I was originally trying to gauge how the SOC market was doing so I could determine how fast I need to pick up older SOC releases (market is fast I can wait, market is slow I would buy at a faster rate). I remember Shogun Warriors and Godaikin became scarce fast. Luckily we have ebay now. But I am going to buy at a faster rate than I originally planned. (I wasn't trying to put down SOC, I love the SOC line, I just wish I had checked them out earlier).

wrcfan, do you think the package was opened by like Homeland Security or some drug agency thinking it was a way of shipping drugs? Like in those movies when they melt the dolls down for cocaine?

Seriously where is all this coming from???Total speculation.Bandai is still making SOCs so how is it over! Last time I checked dangard Ace is coming out.....LOL,you guys are funny. Just because the line slowed down doesnt mean its over.We just have lost patience and months seem like years.... so because an SOC isnt out every 4 mths, its over? It fits into the product life cycle diagram. If you put the SOC on this marketing framework, it looks like we are heading to withdrawal, unless there is innovation. encrypted-tbn0.gstatic.com/images?q=tbn:ANd9GcSlT_H9lN_OOb2Nf9Wn_iuNRmZDJAjeef1zhmWXoY-r03b5-5bDRw

SOCs are not in demand as much as they used to be in the past years, but the 1/6 scale figures and their accessories have undoubtedly made a huge come back. The Saber SOC also has lots of diecast, so Bandai was probably looking for more ways to combine the popularity of figures with whatever machinery they have for handling metal, instead of letting those machines go unused.

I had some questions on the number of SOC releases, especially the GX line. It looks like in 2012 there was one GX-61 Daiojah and the Grendizer and Spacers GX-04S rerelease? And then the DX Mazinger? In 2011 there were 2 GX-59 and 60 releases and a rerelease of GX-58 Andromeda.
Does it look like 2013 will only have 1 or 2 releases as well? It seems like releases are often at the end of the year.
I was also looking at page views for video reviews of the GX line. When Bandai was releasing 5 or so GX per year, page views of all the robot reviews were way up, for example God Mars has 136k views and King Joe has 233k views. On average the robots seemed much more popular. However, the newer robots: Daltanious 37k (Collection dx) 2011 God Sigma 19k (Collection dx) 2011 Daioja 34k reviews (Rocket Punch Army) 2012 Mazinger DX 9k views (Collection dx) 2013
Is this line going to be phased out in favor of SRC?
