3A stuff is very cool, but I am forcing myself not to start collecting them as I could see spending wayyy too much money on them.

Just make an exception for Rex Frankly, Rex will be a far cry from their usual toys anyway. All ABS (most 3A toys are PVC with ABS limbs), and done in a way that mirrors Yoji Shinkawa's art style (which should mean a more clean appearance vs. the holy-crap-how-long-has-that-been-outside-in-the-snow? rusty look).

If they only produced Rex ... and here's hoping a Ray as well... then I'll be happy that it even exists.

Ashley Wood/3A have been adamant that there will be an in-scale Ray to go with Rex.

If they only produced Rex ... and here's hoping a Ray as well... then I'll be happy that it even exists. An excerpt from the 3AVOX newsletter that explains these pictures : The wait is nearly over, soon we will be offering Metal Gear REX, from the epic game series METAL GEAR SOLID. It goes without saying we are very proud to work with Team Kojima and Konami to bring a large size REX toy to the world! Check out some photos of the prototype ( sans legs, due to a typhoon yesterday, a fully made up REX wasn't available for shots ), the full reveal is coming, with all the details! And don't forget , Metal Gear RAY is not far behind!

Now that is awesome... whether they'll be "new" or battle-damaged, the Rex vs Ray faceoff during MGS4 was one of my favourite video game scenes ever...

Repaints are pretty much a given with 3A. Though they might go with a more conservative approach with the Metal Gears, considering their high price point. (No price was announced, but everyone suppose this will be their most expensive release to date.)

Wait, what?! That thing is going to take up my entire side-table. Suddenly I'm a lot less excited... ~_~

Correction : that thing is going TO BE your side-table.
But seriously, with the success of their WWRp line, I wouldn't be surprised to see 3A releasing a smaller-scale Rex later. No way I'm passing on the big one, though. Unless they want a grand for it... then I'll have to seriously reconsider. I'm not expecting it to cost that much, but with all the hype it's getting, I'm getting nervous.

Huge size means huge price (and custom fee). A big piece like this, you can not pass on true value declaration and it's better to take insurance with shipping. This thing is really exciting me... but high price will probably make me pass on this... Wait and see (I first need a brand new computer).

"pre-orders tentatively scheduled in January" Aaaaaaaaah! We've been talking about this one for more than two years already and yet, it seems so soon. And we still don't know about much it's going to cost. Typical of 3A, but at least before we could make an estimation based on similar previous releases. But there's nothing like this Rex in their catalogue (or anywhere else, for that matter). Only two weeks left in January. Considering how fast pre-order dates for 3A figures are announced, opened and... gone... that's it, I'm camping in front of my PC.

I'm pretty sure I had read on the forums, either from Gimbat or Ash, that Rex POs are moved to February.
Ashley's quote on price is "More than $500, less than $1000".
