Excitement bump. Has anyone seen any new info? ...Should we expect info first, or is it just going to pop up for sale on a webstore with no notice? Also, is www.bambalandstore.com/default.asp where it'll probably be? I've never bought a 3A product before.

Also, is www.bambalandstore.com/default.asp where it'll probably be? I've never bought a 3A product before. No additional info for now - it SHOULD be going up on the bambaland store sometime in Feb; at least, I hope it will. It had better. I've got a 3AA membership and nothing I really want to buy with it other than this. 15% off should make a nice dent in the price. There should be maybe a week or so's advance notice before it goes up for sale - once it goes up, it'll likely only be available for between 12 and 24 hours.

Oh! Most glorious news!
The price tag, I mean. Not the "waiting on Konami" part. Hopefully they won't want to wait to make it coincide with Metal Gear Solid Rising's release. Sucks that they won't give us an approximation of the date they would be aiming for if it was all up to them. Just the season would be better than nothing. I'm hoping for a late summer release. We've been waiting for a long time already, I only hope they won't push it back to 2013.

Sucks that they won't give us an approximation of the date they would be aiming for if it was all up to them. Tell me about it. Last year Wood was insistent that it would come out THAT year, and I even bought a 3AA membership in anticipation of both the discount and the 24 hour pre-order window guarantee to make sure there was no way I couldn't get it. Egg on MY face for that one.

Was very looking forward to it... but $490?! Man, that is a bit much for a 'toy'. Was hoping it would be around $350.

From ThreeA's newletter :
I knew that most items on Bambaland included free shipping, but when they announced that tentative $490 price tag approximation, I wondered if it would this time too. Well, today, it's official. $490 with free worldwide shipping. Hurray!
And such a gorgeous girl! Come to daddy, baby!

The...the colors? I feel like we're going full circle here. I do remember some faint markings on the original game model, but nothing this pronounced. Or this green. Or this weathered. Don't get me wrong, it all looks very nicely done, but it doesn't look like how I envision REX. If you'll all excuse me, I'm going to go sit in the corner with my conflicted feelings. *EDIT* I guess it's closer than I remembered...but it still seems a little off to me. (Image of REX as it appears in MGS4)

That's pretty much what Rex would have looked like in Metal Gear Solid 4 if it wasn't for the color filters in those scenes, but the camo patterns were more subtle, less contrasting in MGS1. And that's not just because of the low-res textures. But remember that this is ThreeA, who are not usually shy about pumping out repaint after repaint. So they may eventually make a version more in line with what you imagined. But would you take the risk of passing on that one? Personally, I'll jump on that one, because I love it as it is. Even if I would have preferred a different color scheme, I think that I would have ordered this one anyway and resell it if they release a repaint I like better. I probably wouldn't keep more than one off these, though. Not at the size. Gotta keep some space free for Ray... Ooooh yeah! Bring it on, ThreeA. Hey! Look at that. I found a use for "Greenscream" MP-3 Starscream : Ray chow. So now we got an official price tag and preorder date for Rex. I suppose we'll learn (approximately) when it will be shipping in that Rex-dedicated newsletter they mentioned today. It certainly won't be a matter of weeks, but it probably won't be a year from now either. I wonder of long we'll have for Metal Gear Ray to come along. The way I understood it, they were already working on it in parallel while they were developing Rex, so I guess (hope) it won't take as long as the latter. Once those two are out, are they going to stop there? Rex and Ray are my personal favourites (and pretty much everyone's), so it might just go downhill from there if they decide to milk the license further. But if they continue, what should be next? The Metal Gears from Metal Gear 1 and 2 aren't as classy as their Solid descendants, but it could be cool to see ThreeA's take on these. If they make them in scale with Rex and Ray, they would also be smaller, thus most likely more affordable. As for the rest... well... IMO, their designs aren't as nice. What's the name of that game again? Acid? How appropriate.

Less than 24 hours left until the pre-order headstart for the ThreeA Associates club members; two days for everyone else.
PS : Whoops... that will teach me not to check facts by myself before posting info.

Looking back at this picture, the camo pattern seemed considerably more subtle back then. "Back then" being just last month. I wonder if it was taken before or after the latest promo pics. I like the paintjob on the promo pics and I'd buy this version without any hesitation, but I think I prefer the softer, rusty look it has on this one. I don't think it's just a matter of lighting and focus. It does look different.

Ok, I suck at time zones. I saw a post on a message board and took it for granted, but that conversion was wrong. Rex is going on sale earlier than what I said a few posts earlier. As stated in the latest Newsletter from 3A, Rex is going live at Bambaland Store on March 2nd at 9:00AM HONG KONG TIME. That's March 1 at 8:00PM EASTERN TIME. That's an hour from now... D'OH! wwp.greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/asia/china/hong-kong/time-hong-kong/Brew some coffee and lube that F5 key. This is gonna be war, son.

Eh, it actually went very well... Smooth transaction all the way. I can finally breathe : Rex will be mine. So, who got one? PS : Now I feel like buying Metal Gear Solid HD Collection immediately and do a Metal Gear marathon.

DAAAAW! Lookitdecutekittyyyy!!! ;D Yep... by action figures standards, I guess this would certainly qualify as "big". Crossing my fingers for a price tag similar their WWR 12" line. As cool as that Rex looks, I don't know if I'd get myself to shell out over $300 for it. Hopefully, since this is a much bigger license, they're going to go for a larger production run and aim for more profits in the long run instead of jacking up the price on a limited run.

It pains me to say it after all these years of waiting, but I haven't ordered one. Between the cost (which seems like a completely fair price to me, but it's still more than I can handle now) and my iffiness on the colors, I just couldn't do it.
If the money fairy comes by and is all "Woo it's raining paychecks!" I'd buy one, but as it is I plan on moping for several months and hoping that a smaller one with different paint comes out before I die of old age.
Most likely outcome: I spend $5,000 on it on eBay in 2020 to fill the void in my heart carved out by not clicking that sweet, sweet "add to cart" button now.

You'll have one more opportunity, at the very least, as Sideshow has reserved a set number for sale as well. No idea when those will be made available (probably in 5-6 months when the toy is released) or what the price will be (probably the same $500ish price), but it's better than nothing.
